Lots of poo

Isn't it amazing how much light daylight gives you....
Even changing my old 400x400 white for a 500x500 smoked rooflight doubled the light!

Finished off the skylight frames. Her handy work not mine ??‍♀️

Then glued them onto the roof, and fixed using a few brackets. Celotex then went around it ?

Then fitted the skylight... Cool stuff maaaan.

MANGOFORTH - keep this up, it's just what we need in these challenging times.

I'm not being sarcastic, I think what you are doing is really great and it's an antidote to the doom and gloom being espoused by the media.

Can't wait to see the finished product, only wish I had 10% of your skills.

Mate I've never done anything like this before. Never used a jigsaw, skillsaw or tablesaw in my life. Just having a go ?. If I can do it, I'm sure anyone can. Just be brave and buy tools ?

Picked up this cool job making wine rack thingys. They will be mounted in a kitchen in and around shelving units. The idea is for them to go rusty because that's the look ?‍♂️

From this.....

To make them go rusty quicker. Knock the mill scale off and sprinkle with vinegar :p Seriously, it is a thing now

Yeah man. Keep having to make things for people who like rusty things....

It is the in thing apparently.

Made these huge vegetable planters out of steel the other week... They are keen for the rust to set in.... Weird

All down to Anthony Gormley n the big steel angel maybe.

Rat look took off in the states with rat rods. The industrial look combined with rat look seems to be the in thing these days rather than clean stainless steel that was the previous popular look I think?

Weathering steel (AKA sacrificial steel) has been used for structural bridge deck construction for quite a few decades. The rust layer forms a pre-determined poultice thickness (based on laboratory testing for a 120 year design life) which protects the underlying structural steelwork.

Mainly used in situations where maintenance of the steel structure is difficult, such as river crossings, highway overbridges, off-shore structures etc.

One of my skylights has a fan....
Theres some small cables with spade connectors on, need to run some cable behind the ply to power it....

Will this be suitable? <Broken link removed>

All other cable will be retrofit in visable conduit. Just this one I need to have hidden.

P. S. In getting a load of bits delivered so no human contact involved.

Will be fine if it is only a short run 2 - 4m but if a long run use a heavier cable to reduce volt drop.

I don't get it either.

Horrible monstrosity, it's all gone rusty.

Using steel that is meant to go rusty does two main things: the rust itself actually protects the steel (if its the proper stuff that's been used in the first place) and also there's no maintenance such as painting that needs doing. Also depending on it's use sometimes it can actually look quite good once the rust sets in ... a bit like verdigris on copper, brass etc.

Mango, I am running all 12v through 1.5mm artic yellow, might be overkill but at least i wont worry about voltage drop or cable shielding degrading

Can someone help me name this!!

Need a shower drain plug thingy.

Obviously I'm not searching for the right thing. Can't find anything!!

Something that goes straight down... Because I went gun ho on drilling a hole.
The shower tray hole is 50mm....

Thanks

Judging by the number of funsters who like to drink wine maybe a cork could be donated? :giggle:

Google 50mm shower waste

not sure about the going straight down bit though - most have a trap with a horizontal off take
