Thanks to all who advised Newhaven ferry

I've used that crossing probably at least twice a year for the past 20 years and never seen a dog carried or on a lead on deck.

Edit - Out of interest and as it would suit me I've just spoken with DFDS who said that foot passengers' dogs must go in the ship's kennels and you must book by phone to check if a kennel is available.
I have just written to DFDS asking if they would consider a trial dog lounge similar to that on the P&O ferry. I will keep you posted.
Edit: no not a “trials dog” lounge but a trial of a dog lounge 🤪

Excellent price, already booked, but taken aback by being charged £18 each way for Fido. Seemed harsh, given that he stays in the van anyway?

Looking at the P and O dog lounge they quote £27.
Do you know if they is in lieu of the normal pet charge or is it additional, The website is not clear on this.

I’m sorry, I don’t know. I guess you could put through a trial booking, someone on here has used it, I will go and look.

It was Aly1 , thread here

We are hopefully going this way instead of Dover. Are you allowed to overnight near the harbour as we will be travelling down the day before catching the ferry.
You can overnight in the actual port car park, we always do on the night before the day crossing and after our return crossing in late evening quiet enough overnight 😴

There are two 20% disounts available.
1) If you are staying longer than 10 days
2) If you are a wrinkly (over 60)
They are both only available if you book by phone.
Sometimes, not every time ( depends on who answers the phone) you get both!
I have had the 40% discount sevetal times. Result!

My mistake 20% off the already 20% discounted price = a total of 36% off not 40% as previous post!

What do you need to qualify? Just a badge or be in receipt of disability payments?
According to their website.............

Implies just the blue badge?

Thank you.
I don't know what 'card' a disabled person holds so why not call them on the number in my post?
You can press a button to select their 'English' language service if that's what you need.
