Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

Hab battery doesn't seem to be charging. I had problems with the batteries a while back but they've been good till now. Anything more than one interior light on and the 'low bat' light is flashing.

I need services tomorrow so I am tempted to nip up the road to try get on the campsite for a night to get plugged in and have a look at the batteries.

This will also allow me to get the laptop powered up to watch the Aberdeen game
Are you awake and in van? I'm walking that way with dogs I'll pop past say hello

Morning tam , I thought I read you had changed the batteries when you bought Toby & then again on the way down to the Chanel

Am I getting old & confused lol ?
If so maybe was the alternator was playing up

Could be worse could be here in today’s weather trying to fix it
Your confusing both threads I've changed leisure batteries on both vans but my ebl is t charging these while driving for some reason

Tam

Have you checked the earth strap to the body is tight and connections clean, because even if the altternator is providing charge to the battery, without the return negative circuit being complete there will be no current flowing.

Good luck.

Geoff

I've just this minute settled down at the site. Emptied my grey, filled my fresh, poured all my poo down the drain now I've took readings of both batteries, plugged in and ill check readings again later.

I'll be cycling back down to the beach later today and tomorrow some time so let me know what time the dogs are taking you for a walk and I'll adjust accordingly.

You want me to ask in reception if they know of any repair places or you happy with the guy you've found?

I wondered how I couldn't find you I've been walking round this carpark trying to spot your van

You're from Aberdeen what on earth are you doing on a campsite

I'll probably have a cycle along to benalmadina with dogs in trailer after lunch

I haven't but to be honest it's really hard to see anything under there or under bonnet.

I've only a bottle back with me and not wanting to risk lying under van with it.

I'm here till Monday anyway and I'll try this auto spark. If he's closed till Wednesday then I guess there's worse places I could be.

I was beside the 2 brit vans with Western themed signage. You might of noticed a puddle of my grey left over out my over flow.

I've found through Google an auto electrical guy about 4 miles away which has great reviews on Google regarding work and price etc , unfortunately closed till Monday so I'll drive round to him Monday morning and see.
Hopefully he speaks a little English and maybe not need a complete alternator.
Probably be closed until Wednesday, big holiday weekend, Fathers Day Tuesday everthing will be closed.

Wondering if it's been on it's way out and maybe that's why it's not been charging my leisures.
You just need a relay switched via ignition energising a feed direct from alt to leisures

Yeah that's a possibility I'll try phoning Monday morning.

If it's Wednesday it's fine I can cope with that.

I might have to find water before then but still got 3/4 tank so should be ok.

I plan to do some sunbathing so can shower on beach :)

Just been for a cycle along to belamadena and I have to say pedestrians are a feckn nightmare.
They should be taught how to walk and have to pass a test before let lose on the pavements and the bloody cycle paths.

They wander about not a care in the world all over the cycle paths , they can't even walk in a straight line.
I've about worn out my bell and no bugger pay a any attention to them anyway ...

6 people in a group they think it's fine to all walk along in a line taking up a 5 metre wide walkway so folk walking towards them have to stand to one side so they can pass.

It's ridiculous ....

...I used to be empathetic to this, until I went out walking with someone who was partially deaf... she simply doesn't hear certain frequencies...
But that'll be the minority, so I shall agree overall with your sentiments :p.

Yep the odd one I can understand but folk just don't pay attention.

It's not even like I'm going fast I'm just pottering along but it's annoying having to completely stop then start again
Especially with trailer

Few pics of busy benalmadena...

This guy didn't want me to take a photo apparently lol

Felt like telling him I wasn't that impressed he's only built the thing once I saw it last year exactly the same.

Those guys expect a tip if you are taking a photo of their 'work'. Same with the guy who had done the rock balancing, he had a little display where you took your last photo from I think.

At least they aren't as bad as the beggars who simply come up to you when you are eating somewhere and expect a few euros.

I think our strap is from the engine block to a cross-member at the front of the engine, but not sure.

I have, and will continue to, reply on this problem on your 'Garage in Andalucia' threadd

Looks like another beautiful day snow here in crook of devon hope you manage to fix Toby .Enjoying all your nice pics :)
Yeah it's a lovely 25° here I have to say I'm not missing the snow.

I'll get it fixed one way or other I'd just rather it was the cheaper way than a huge bill lol.

Joy of motorhomes we are always fixing something on the damm things.
But it doesn't hurt as much when you're using it all the time.

It's just annoying when it's things I can't access or fix myself .

Aye the lycra brigade are equally as annoying.

It's just people really

Other people are bloody annoying. .....when I'm king I'm going to ban them

Not wanting to jump on the defence of All pedestrians.
But!!
There so few cyclists using the pavement that it’s very easy for a pedestrians to take full ownership.
First rule of driving
Give way to pedestrians :p

Get a squeezy hooter in one of the chinese shops............& don't stop:)
Or I have one similar to this you could have borrowed.

:LOL::LOL:

It's a cycle path with a bike painted on it every 10 yards and big signs saying cycle path. Right next to it is a 5 metre wide pavement and the nuggets still can't stay off the cycle lane.

And when folk stop to the shoes or take pics etc you'd think common sense would say stand in to the side not stop right in the middle of the path ...but nah let's stop where it's the least convenient.

I blame British health and safety ...they've wrapped folk in cotton wool so long they haven't a clue how to self preserve .

Whether I am cycling or walking on a legal path for either, when a group approach me line-abreast taking up the whole path I keep going until I stop right in front of them so they are forced to go around - I think that is politer than running into them, which is what my primaeval instinct would do.

Equally if cyclists take up the pavement I am walking on, I stop, lean my shoulder in for the contact. I was stationary on a footpath.

I find the French rarely move over to give you space whether you are walking or riding.
My big hate when on my bike are the ‘rats on a rope’. Usually on a long wind out lead with the dog one side of the track and the owner on the other.

I fully sympathise with you Tam.

Richard.

Aye as a dog owner I get annoyed at them too. Mine are beside me and I walk to one side of pavement. If there's a small wall jade tends to walk along that

If they are not cyclists they don't realise,,its easy to forget when you are walking on a shared track. I cycle and still forget.Mind you usually cycling speed is restricted to 10 kph so its easy to avoid cyclists,,BUSBY,,:D:D

Even better when they walk their dogs round shows on long leads....
