Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

your bad lip and bad back I got no sypathy for but the tap I know your pain. If it’s the same as mine it’s a crap design where the little wire goes passed the plastic bit and down the back.
I dont have a bad lip or bad back lol

But the tap is a pain ....problem is the wire is too stiff and gets trapped by the tap turning. Doesn't take long to sort it which I've done now but doesn't last long before breaking again

Fortunately touch wood it's only been the kitchen tap so far which is easy to get at , the other two I've not had issues with

I've still got 9 cans from spain since September lol.

You can tell I dont drink much

I've 4 bottles of red wine and 2 bottles of vinto aswell ????
You can drop them off at mine on your way home Tam, we didn’t get away this year due to Mrs bigtree’s health hiccup.

I've already bought a fan heater on ebay ....but it's at mums.
Planned to use it when home

I just wish I had one with me just now save gas when on hookup
Does your heater not work on Lecky?
Mine does??

Tam,
There is an Aldi about 800 metres away from you...

Might they have a cheap electric fan heater?
Bear in mind it will have a continental plug!

Cheers Barry but For the few days I'll have electric I wouldn't buy another one when I've a new one at home ......I never normally have electric just down to charging problems etc at the minute.

But when home in a week or two I'll use one instead of the gas as I'll be hooked up to.mums hoose lol

But yeah I spotted the aldi earlier when out with dogs ....I'll be going there in morning for some shopping

Decided just to stay here again tonight while I can , I'll head back towards france tomorrow and stay somewhere near that vet I got jades rabies shot at. Then I can nip in there Monday morning and hopefully they can do worming. Then I'll see if I can get on the electric aire again at grenay for monday night and then up to cite europe for Tuesday night. Train 9.50 Wednesday morning.

I think the ford ka toad has been sold ....but he never got back to me anyway so I'd decided just to leave it till I was passing Newcastle and I'd have had a look.

The smart car ,from what I gather the lad selling it had only had it a few months he knows nothing about it and is practically useless at taking photos to show what if anything is left of the a frame fitments. And I'm not sure about that so probably leave that at the minute too.

Theres a toyota aygo ending tomorrow in peterhead scotland .....high miles for a small car though at 132000
I think it has 1k reserve on ebay as it's on gumtree for that......not sure about that either lol

Dont think I'd go down the trailer route ....but who knows

Hip feels better today thankfully so I must have just twisted it or something

I think I've secured a set of internal silver screen type blinds for cab off a facebook page I'm on which are just outside Brighton so can collect on route to lennys on wednesday

Not much else happening here

? Our car here is a 2002 1.2 Opel corsa 185000 thats kilometers and we are the third owner's, full service history and it has a cam chain. ?
Janie loved her Smart car new in 2009, I drove it once hated it, but driving can only be described as a high go cart ? and that takes your mind off a very hard ride, ? but quite roomy for a little car. ? Bob.

Internal screens would help with the cold but make a lot of condensation.
I thought they were good at stopping condensation?

I get a lot of condensation inside just now which is a pain

I thought the screens would help that ,I've never used them before

It's external screens you need to stop condensation but not ideal when wilding.

Aye that's why I thought the internal would be best for me

Someone offered me an external one on the same facebook group at £140

I always see lots of Van's using the internal ones so I assumed they did the same job ?

They will help a lot but you will still get some condensation but with external ones you get none at all. Easy to make your own internal ones.

External if possible. Massive difference, especially on a large windscreen.

Yeah I looked at buying the material to make them but £26 per metre

This guy near brighton has proper made ones to fit my van for £60 so figured that was best option

Tam,
I use external all the time including wilding.
Never ever a problem!
Great through Spain to keep the van cooler for the dogs, as well as keeping condensation at bay.
Just beat you to a almost brand new set bought from a lovely Funster 2 weeks ago ??

Aye most of the time I've not had a problem .....but theres been a few times when I've had to move due to idiots and I'm not sure I'd want to have to go out and remove screens etc.....

I missed a set the other day on ebay ...the woman accepted my offer of £120 and then suddenly the listing was marked as sold and never heard from her again so I think I got gazumped

How many times have you had to move quick, and it only takes a minute to get them off. Like every one has said external ones are great for no condensation. (y)

Yes I know ..only a few times

But I dont want to pay £300 for a new external one and the couple that have come up second hand I've missed

So I'll keep looking but the £60 internal ones will help just now

On a different note I have to say some of the threads I read on here and the attitudes of some folk really upset me

I cant actually believe at times what I'm reading.......I despair for humanity at times

How we ever got to this stage is scary stuff.

we all have views shaped by our life experiences , and how we were raised , and that also formulates how we
interpret others , it is disconcerting from both sides dealing with opposing views . that's where tolerance becomes important ! For who's to say which is right , if there even is a right, other than at a very basic level .

I totally agree. I have found this forum so useful for general ideas and specific information and have followed with real interest the reports on trips as well some of the more personal journeys and problems people post...... BUT i learned early on not to read any belly locker posts having initially straying in by mistake.

I'm now finding myself ignoring more people and threads. I was wondering if it was just me becoming less tolerant or if there has been a real change in the "tenor" of the forum?
