Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

Ha ha one was in her 50's. I think it may have been mum and daughter
I feel slightly insulted reading that?

If Lenny can't sort your Ebl issue I've recently had fantastic service from A and N Caravan services in North Wales. Sent the Ebl off after exchanging a couple of emails, it arrived with him on the Thursday & it was back with me on the Monday, fixed price.
Very impressed. Or you can drop it off by prior arrangement.

Hope you get sorted & back on track with everything ?

Thanks Geoff yes any advice is always welcome as I'm first to admit electrics just confuse me .....thanks really has to go to Lenny HB for his patience at times when trying to assist me , that's why I intend to visit him on route home so he can hopefully look at my system and advise the next steps , I'm quite happy to invest the money in fixing my ebl or panel etc and if need be fitting an alternative charging method and solar charger etc ....I'm prepared to be doing that I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing and not changing parts that dont need changing etc

At the minute I'm just totally confused by the whole thing ...as currently my panel says batteries are dead ...its showing 3% now
With engine running it shows +3.5 amps
And they sit around 13.4v with engine running

Engines been off about an hour now and they read 12.7 both on panel and with a meter direct at the battery
The problem is as soon as I run the heater that 12.7 will drop drastically to 12.2 or 3 and then down to 12v within 30 minutes or so and as soon as it hits 12v the panel switches off all power ?

And that cuts of everything including the fridge .....luckily as I've wired heater direct to battery it doesn't switch of the water heater so that's one bonus as I dont need frozen pipes etc.

Running the engine seems to do very little other than raise the voltage from 12v to 13.4 which let's me use power etc but probably not good longterm

These batteries were fitted new on December the 4th last year and have 3 or 4 years warranty apparently....but I still dont know if they are right or not ?

Toby is a good van. ..he just needs a little help
If it's easy to get at take a look at the battery terminals. Check they're clean and not loose. Do the same with any big fuses near to the battery.

Yes I think I saw their website on Google
That's my plan once lenny has had a look , if ebl and/or control panel knackered then I'll pop in to one of these places and see if they can do an exchange unit there and then.

A successful spot of hunting in the citroen garage has secured a couple of 50 amp maxi fuses for both the engine battery and habitation batteries as for some reason my van has 100amp ones fitted.

Dont know if it will make any difference to anything but these are the correct fuses so I'm told so I will change them tomorrow in the daylight , and I will also check all the connections at my leisure batteries etc..

I've changed my crossing to the 27th instead of the 28th also. I'll stay here till saturday then head back to the free aire near lens in France and stay saturday to Monday, use the same vet I got jades rabies shot at for worming then head up towards calais via dunkirk for a night and train wednesday morning.

This Belgian guy next door lives in his van fulltime also, 3.5 years now ...he just goes around all the free and low cost Aires.....he says hes been here since sunday and hrs staying till this sunday ...so I was lucky that dutch van left today .

See Tam, not everything is against you ?. You been lucky to get that parking spot, You've got ehu, so hopefully will be warm, you 've found someone who speaks English that you can have a yarn with.
There is no telling what will happen in the next couple of days, so what good can worrying do? it doesn't alter the future- it just makes you grumpy, depressed and miserable and leads to you overlooking the oh so many good things that happen to you each and every day.
Every time a worrying thought enters your head acknowledge it but say I can't alter that right now so I'm going to appreciate the good things I have and can do right now. :D

Thanks but I'm not looking for a trailer.

I've got the chance of one for £300 but not decided yet.

I think I'd prefer an a frame as ive no intention to take it to europe and storing it would be an issue

Well I changed both the fuses this morning on toby , the habitation batteries had a 100amp one there and the engine battery had an 80 amp there.

I've now put 50amp on each which I'm assured is the correct ones

No idea if it will make any difference to any of the issues but they are changed at least.

Batteries are fully charged now so that's good , checked all connections everything is clean , tight and secure

Nice and cosy last night although I wish I had fan heater as my heating is gas only ?

Nice long shower though and a shave and beard trim

In other news I've hurt my hip ? no idea how but really sore I can hardly lift my leg

Dont know how I've done it

Nice and sunny today and 10° so I've a few skylights and windows open to let a bit air circulate

Belgian guy next door came and asked if I was leaving as his friend wants to come park here lol

I said no not today ? cheeky bugger

No harm in asking Tam.
Glad you are now warm and spruced up, it's sheeting down here,it has been all night and a lot of yesterday. Ho hum .
Hope your hip feels better soon, might just be a sign of old age catching up with you ?

Tam, don’t suppose you filled your van with Belgian beer to save paying the Krankie tax ? ;)
I've still got 9 cans from spain since September lol.

I'm hoping it isn't old age as that will only get worse...I'm hoping I've somehow twisted it unknowingly and it will stop aching soon lol

Not horrified ....I just prefer younger partners

Less cantankerous and less likely to vote tory ?????

I was looking at these earlier thinking one would be handy for my van but then I realised that I only have 1 mains socket at floor level and it faces the windscreen, behind the passenger seat:wasntme: might be handy for you though, it's quite small & compact & I'm sure it'd be possible to get it cheaper than the garden centre price!

My bloody tap solenoid wire has broke again too .....3rd time this year

So I gotta go fiddle with that now

your bad lip and bad back I got no sypathy for but the tap I know your pain. If it’s the same as mine it’s a crap design where the little wire goes passed the plastic bit and down the back.
