Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

That's where I adopted jade from and I'm getting Milo from. So many dogs looking for loving homes and they make excellent travel companions, you can even blame them for taking wrong turnings etc , jade hangs her head in shame when I curse at Elizabeth ( the satnav)
They are also great hot water bottles , excercise enthusiasts and Hoover's
Elizabeth? I have many names for mine, all double-barrelled, and the first part of each is unprintable :D2.

Yeah pretty sure if you're a first time offender they just 'fine' you the actual crossing cost. I came back to a letter from them a year or so ago and that's what they said.

I am sure they did this with first-time offenders after the new system was intoduced, but I think it may have had a limited duration written in, but not sure.

Good to hear Mum's putting weight on (y)(y)(y).
As for your heating , you're from the East coast of Scotland , you shouldn't need heating until it's at least 5 degrees below freezing:D:D.
Have another great trip.
John
You're joking - in my experience the Scots are in full Winter dress by the end of August. Or at least those in the Glasgow and Borders areas are.:D

Ring again hopefully you will get someone more helpfull.
I think you've been unlucky to get an unhelpful call handler Tam. Perhaps call again? I can't imagine I'd have been able to pay over the phone if it wasn't an option open to everyone.

I did ask her if there was another number to phone and she said no one would let me pay it today , she said to wait till letter arrived and appeal it so maybe I have to do that.

As already suggested open an account on line (if you can) stick a tenner on it, you may be able to blag it.
I don't think that would work as it's still more than 24 hours after and I think if anything it would just make me look guilty or something.

I'll try and phone again once the letter has arrived. My sister will check for mail this week etc.

So this is where I am tonight, I managed to fill up with water at a wee aire just before I stopped for lunch so all is good.

Not entirely sure about this parking spot ....there's a couple of other vans here but they are of the homebuilt converted luton / horsebox variety lol.

I'm near the football stadium and discovered when walking jade there's a match on tonight , the French certainly take security serious these days police everywhere and they are using mirrors under cars etc.

There's also a shanty type town over the road with loads of self build shelters that whole families are living in .....It looks like a Benidorm campsite :p

But the carpark itself is quiet and I can't be assed moving lol so I'm hoping it stays quiet.

Alarm will be set anyway :p

You are doing wonderful with your co ordinate posts Tam. Keep it up (y)

Was snowing here this morning but thawing now.

Did the same re Dartford crossing had to wait for the letter arriving then for a limited time could just pay for crossing as was first time. If you wait till you return the fine will have been activated

What with the football match and the shanty town it doesn't sound like the ideal parking spot. Take care Tam, have a peaceful night.

I'm heading in to Andorra tomorrow so might see some snow there , not sure I want to see it right enough but I want to visit Andorra.
Really need to do some shopping tomorrow though before I leave France.

Yeah I've asked my sister to check for mail for me and then I'll phone them again as a few people have said they've done that.
Will see what happens.

I'm far enough from the stadium for it to be just a low murmer from them.

It isn't one of my best spots but Toulouse is massive and I had enough of a headache getting in here so can't be bothered driving to find another spot.
There's a few vans here and I have my alarm etc so I think it will be fine. I don't plan to leave the van. We've been our walk so in for the night now.

I think the give away was the “this spot is known by the local travelers” :D

Yeah online it says they send a fine out to registered address.

I obviously haven't received that and I genuinely forgot about it which I would think happens a lot to folk not familiar with it.

I've sent an email enquiry online stating I forgot to pay it and I'm now in France can I pay it now.

I'll wait for a reply.....but I certainly won't be just paying them the £70 fine it states online.

That's outrageous, no crime has been committed and its a genuine mistake.

Will see what comes back
One reason I set up an account and registered vehicle with a card. It auto takes it off the card each time I travel though tunnel.

Aye but they don't mean travellers like we get, it's the homebuilt vans full of young guys I think as there's 4 or 5 of them here today.

Still quiet though ...I've been in a lot of noisier places

Interesting

French football fans sound exactly like British football fans

I forgot to do the toll for the new Runcorn crossing a while ago - it has to be done by midnight, I remembered at 9am the next morning, phoned the call centre only to be greeted by your stereotypical soulless bored-as-hell call centre drone, "You can't pay now, you should have paid by midnight, you'll have to wait for the penalty letter".

To make it worse I'd been across twice in the day, in the car - so it was 2 x £40 penalties plus the original toll fee, and they wouldn't budge. Same operating company as the Dartford Crossing I believe, although the policies may be different as they are serving different authorities.

Still, some would say that £80 to get out of Runcorn very quickly is still a bargain.....

Not too sure that youre not parked in @yodeli s back garden ? Toulouse next to the stadium and the travellers park there. If you can see a house knock on the door. Rumour has it she makes a great stew.
