Tam n pups winter trip 2022

If it waz going to be a problem.. then surely it would have happened on the way home after buying it.
Then down to Uncle Lenny…
drive on….
Aye , but it's that niggling doubt lol.

Have to say I've only ever had one belt snap on me and that was an old Renault scenic in 2004 .

Since then the only issue I've had is with the hymer when I had the timing belt changed and the idiots never changed the fan belt and it snapped taking out the new timing belt , the pulley a tensioner and a bracket with it costing me more than the original belt change.

I had the belts changed on the Euromobil last year before I went away and they overtightened the aircon belt which buggered up the aircon compressor in Ireland which I had to remove.

And the one I had changed on the last iveco they never replaced a coolant hose properly which caused me to need the aa out in folkestone when it lost all the water .

So with my experience of garages it's sometimes better to keep the buggers away from my vans as they cause me more problems.

Not worth the risk , timing belts are more time then mileage related and if the last one was in 2017 then it’s now overdue, you could use any garage which comes highly recommended on your way down to the ferry maybe ?
Don't have time on route . I'm leaving here 15th and ferry is morning of the 17th .

I'd rather get it done before I leave or somewhere later .

I’d certainly recommend getting it done Tam but straight away rather than when on your journey, that way if owt happens you can get it sorted before you set off

good luck 👍
The problem is I'm struggling to get anywhere to do it before I leave , and from past experience it's caused me more probs than its avoided

A few little jobs today. Got some of the bike rack painted and assembled , fitted the camera . And then removed the bathroom window and applied opaque film to it so now I can pee without having to close the blind and put the light on 😁

Obviously I've the cables to tidy for the camera and I've more of the rack to refitted aswell as some extra reverse lights

Does anyone know how to remove those lines from the camera?

It was a twin camera system and I'm sure they aren't required for 2 bloody cameras

I’ve got a different style, but it is permanently powered when driving so I can see behind. The lines are only triggered when reverse is selected as there is a connection wire going to the reverse lights. I guess if you disconnect that wire you won’t see the lines.

I had my belt changed at 5 years Tam and the Motorhome hadn’t even done 20,000.
I wouldn’t like to to risk it. As Clint said, do you feel lucky?

Bike rack looks good but you need to move your number plate so plod don’t pull you over and tell you. 👍
Not finished yet. There's a board to go on it yet with number plate.

Yeah this is on permanent too. I haven't connected the wire to reverse lights .

I'm wondering if it's on av2 instead of av1 .

I'll try changing the connections tomorrow see if that does anything.

It's a 2 camera system but I've only installed one camera for now , so maybe 1 has lines and the other doesn't.

Here..

Here..

Hmm but doesn't help.

Mine isn't a waeco it's just a cheap ebay camera.

On mine the lines are on both av’s

At the minute I'm just leaving things as they are. It's due for renewal next April and I'll change address then.

Wouldn't be here anyway regardless of what address Is on it as I'd be in Europe over winter. Everything online these days too.

Can't change it before I go as sister hasn't moved yet and no idea when that's happening.

So technically probably not the right way to do it but it's complicated and options are limited.
Just don't want you to risk actually being uninsured (well not comprehensive as third party would still be valid) so if you needed to make a claim you could be told to go forth and multiply.

Can't u toggle the lines on or off in the settings 🤔
Not sure , I've not played about with it yet . I'll investigate more tomorrow, I've also emailed the ebay seller to ask them as I bought it because it said no lines. The lines are seriously annoying

FWIW, Tam. I got my cam belt changed at Inchmichael Garage on the way from Perth to Dundee. It's probably not ideal for you as it's in the middle of nowhere. There are close to Perthshire Caravans so do quite a lot of motorhome service stuff, I believe.

If I'm abroad at the time of any incident it wouldn't matter anyway. Once my sister has moved in I might phone them then and explain the situation. At the minute until this house is sold and completed which will likely not be till Christmas everything is still correct. Can't change license or passport etc just now as I wouldn't get them back in time and they'd be sent to sisters new address which she doesn't live at yet.

Can't see any other way of doing it.

Aye the problem is getting it there and me back at the minute . Just too much going on over the next 2 weeks .

Normally there are a positive and negative wire for the supply and a 3rd wire that turns the lines off/on which you connect to pos or neg depends on the camera.
If you don't have the 3rd wire you are stuck with them.

As for the cambelt, engines are so expensive these days is it worth the risk.

Mine had a 3rd wire but it says to connect that to reverse light switch.

Which I haven't done as not using it as reverse camera. If I'd fitted the 2 camera's as I first planned I'd have connected that too .

So I'm not sure if maybe the av1 and av2 are different. Maybe one has the lines and the other doesn't. I'll try switching the video cables tomorrow and try both camera's just to see.

Changed address on my License and V5’s on Sunday night last week.
New license and both V5’s arrived in the post Tuesday morning!
All done online so don’t try and do it by post though.

Yep but if I changed it now to my sisters current address it would be defunct in a couple of months when she moves to her new address. I can't send them to her new address yet as people still live there.

I've thought of all options and can't do anything till she's moved . By which time I will be in Europe.

If I encountered any parking or speeding fines ( unlikely ) in Europe I wouldn't be paying them anyway 🤣🤣🤣🤣

And no urgent reason otherwise for anyone to send me mail.

No need to change it yet as you still own your Mum's house along with your siblings, so you are still a legitimate resident.

Again, whilst you still have your Mum's house there's nothing to worry about.

It's only when the house sale is completed (or whatever it's called in Scotland! :giggle: ) when you will not have a UK abode to your name, thus no legal residence for insurance purposes, that you will need to deal with it as at that point you will have invalidated your insurance. If you can therefore change it to your sister's once she's moved in, even before the house sells, then you can forget about it as you'll be sorted.

Aye mu insurance isn't a problem . I can change that over the phone and they'll email me updated documents.

But my licence and passport etc I would need to send off to have the address changed. Can't do anything with them till I'm back.
