Tam n pups winter trip 2022

When we were at one of the tiny villages a French 4x4 camper arrived along the track. Mohamed went to have a chat to them, French is his third language, to see how they'd found their way there.

There was inerest from the locals in seeing visitors, but no hassle.

You might have problems on the pavements at times .

I think I've seen 1 wheelchair here
He would have fun in Marrakesh they have pavements but kerbs are often over foot high, no disable ramps.
Like most third world countries no provision at all made for the disabled.

I live in a Cornish village, they don’t have pavements here either…😆😎

Yeah the kerbs have been very high everywhere, pavements generally not good condition unless a tourist town. But some places better than others

Having a lazy day today , done a bit laundry. Bought a big fish to cook for tea , you can have a fire on this campsite so will cook it on that.

I have a pet tortoise 🐢 😍😍

My daughter has a pet tortoise a friend found it in their garden they couldn't track down the owner so my daughter took it on had it for 5 or 10 years.

When I was a little boy in the 50's I had a pet tortoise, grandad drilled a hole the shell and tied a length of string to it with stake so it couldn't wander too far.

I've just received a telegram from a certain Mr T. Ortoise in Morocco, he says he's just got himself a big Scottish minder ... although he's only going by the accent as he hasn't seen up his kilt yet so he could be a 'mock turtle'!!! !

Looks like our Wilf, had him 16 years until some Scrote stole him when we had the builders in. You might laugh but he was a right character the lads loved him. Many years ago.

Just saw a baby goat being born on the beach ...mum gave it a few licks, woman herder walked over lifted it my the scruff tucked it under her arm and walked off lol ..

Nice big fish for tea ,...150dh but its a cracker , I was going to cook it outside but already had the French space invaders next door complaining earlier so fir a peaceful life its in the oven with some lemon and Pepper.

Jackie's here too so I'm making her dinner . She nearly puked when I was gutting it lol . I thought women were OK with food preparation lol

Lovely beach pics Tam
They are quite curious creatures...so cute

If you can get strawberries they were always a big treat for our tortoise, if not then thin slices of apple - I reckon you'll have more luck with that than tomatoes.

I wouldn't know where to start with that fish! I'd happily gut one just no idea how :(

Enjoying your pics and reading about your travels Tam Northernraider particularly as we had an “interesting “ experience in Morocco years ago…..The short version….:
It was in 1981,which you won’t remember ;) :ROFLMAO: and we went to Morroco for our honeymoon…….well, some of it was good, apart from: We went to Agadir, which at that time was a rubbish hole, with an airport that had a poor safety record, but we survived the flying part unscathed. I have vivid memories of seeing meat hanging in a butchers absolutely covered in flies. We both had a severe dose of the squirts for several days ( not romantic!). I nearly drowned in the hotel pool. The constant bartering was boring after the first 20 attempts at being conned by the locals. Apart from seeing goats climb trees, and the snake charmer in Marrakesh it was a disaster! Dogs everywhere (no change there then). Even the flight home to Gatwick was a near death experience and the duchess ended up spending a night in Crawley hospital.
Would I go there again…no,never. I’m sure it’s very different now and it was certainly “an experience”.
Agree with your judgement that there are the good uns and the bad uns and it’s difficult sometimes to tell the difference, which is sad be because it means the safest thing is to assume the worst .
Have a great time and keep on posting those great pics!

You just reminded me, after coming home from Marrakech I spent two weeks between bed and bathroom with semonella.

Well that was cracking

As for gutting a fish , its fairly simple ...look under the fish you'll see a small hole near the tail .. its arse

Stick a sharp knife in there till you feel the tip touch the spine , then slice it straight up the belly to the fins. Spread it open , best done in a bucket or basin of water and scoop everything out of inside till your finger is running up and down the spine ... once nice and cleaned out , stick some lemon, butter salt and pepper inside and a little olive oil. Place on tinfoil oiled , then loosely wrap and stick it in the oven , I did it at 200 for 60 minutes .

It was cooked perfectly and fell of the skin and bone .

That was a big fish if it took an hour to cook. Although I find van ovens are really slow to cook!

Well it was probably ready long before that but prefer to make sure.

I've a domestic cooker in my van though it's not a caravan model

I got myself a food thermometer a few years ago with a chart to show what temp stuff should be cooked correctly at and I find I don't over cook things anymore as I used to be like you "making sure" food was safe to eat (y)your fish looked lovely by the way 😋
