Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

Looks like a nice bit of tucker. The fish looks like whitebait.
Have a good trip today.

Yeah dave and marsha said that too
I have to confess I'd never had whitebait either . But it was very nice I have to say ....a few bones but I just ate them too ha ha.

Some lovely pics :) what camera did you use to take them?
I only use my phone which is a Samsung galaxy s7 ...its often pure luck but it does take good pics which I leave unedited for a true likeness.

I have to say I do love a sunset though and I hope to see many many more

So I left dave and marsha at cullera this morning and drove a little inland to "simat de la valldigna" to a little official aire so I could empty and refill etc. It's right among the orange groves and seems a nice little town ...i haven't been out to explore yet just parked up and got settled.
Nice spot at the foot of the mountains and an old monestary near by which is worth a visit I've been told.

Here's the location for those interested.

Just checked on Google maps where you are. Not far from Benidorm , now your language difficulties will get worse, they all speak English with loads of different accents:D. If anyone says " Hola , ee ba gum tha's a reet good van , why aye, neebor " , make your excuses and get to:D.
Keep enjoying.
John, or Juan:)

Well that was a lovely meal ....couldnt understand a word of the menu and as we had already hit the vino we just laughed through most of it.
We picked some special menu thing thinking you selected one starter one main etc
Only to discover they actually gave you all 3 starters , which consisted of a mediteranian salad , some cheese thing with ham and the really small white fish done in batter.
Main course of chicken and rabbit paella.
And a massive chocolate cheese cake
2 bottles of wine , coffee and a large shot of something alcoholic ...all for €20 a head

Can't complain and I'm stuffed now lol

It's been a great day .....im moving on tomorrow to an aire in the mountains then in to xativa for a day or two.

So time to say goodbye to dave and marsha but might bump in to them somewhere else as they are also here for a year in Spain and Portugal.

Knackered now lol

Thanks for all the well wishes folks xx

Missed photos of the first 2 starters but this was the fish thing , the main and desert

Freezer works really well....but it hasn't got to really high temperatures yet so I'm hoping it stays working ha ha

The gin I have to say must be an acquired taste which I haven't yet aquired .....and boy can that finnish man ( paully) talk I've only just escaped.
Incidentally he says he was once a millionaire and he sailed round the world for 2 years ...he owned a big construction company but lost it all .....he now tours Europe in a 12 year old liaka he bought new

He's 73 and driven in 28 countries ....hes very interesting I have to say .....quite a character

I haven't had gin for a long time , but could never drink it with tonic , too bitter for me. If you're drinking it with tonic try it with another mixer , maybe ginger ale/beer and a wee bit of lime cordial . Nice with the cloudy lemonade that a lot of supermarkets sell. Think it goes with most mixers , and experimenting with a couple of dozen might make for a good night :D.
From your posts you sound a lot happier ,hope that is the case:).
Speak soon

Hmm I may stock up on a few mixers just incase I meet more people who insist I drink their gin ....dont think I'll be buying a bottle quite yet though as im not sure I liked it

I'm also adverse to hangovers...so red wine and beer is enough for me

I still can't believe you get 12 cans here for €3 that's absurd

But I'm really enjoying meeting people from different countries ....i still can't find very many friendly French which is sad as I do try
But Germans Spanish and from other nationalities I've met a few very friendly folk

And of course English.....but you find them everywhere:p

Have you tried speaking French to them (the frogs)? If you just say bonjour monsieur/Madame, or ca va? it may help defrost them.
(with apologies if you are already a fluent French speaker!!!)

I admit that because I'm in Spain I don't I usually say hola lol and see if they respond and in what language ......if theu seem interested in any form of discussion then even if we can't speak each other's language I've still managed to communicate.....done this with a few Dutch a German and a Lithuanian till now .....but sadly I've not met anyone French who has made any effort :(
And I really do hate saying that because I hate stereotypes but bern the German and Dave and marsha all said they have encountered the same thing

I'm not sure why that is

That’s the best thing about gin , Tam , you don’t get a hangover with it.
Well that and it’s more slimming than beer, lager and wine !
Loving the thread and the pics. Keep em coming.

Hmmm I've been told in the past by a few people about different drinks you don't get hangovers with .....usually the next day while I'm sick as a dog I think why oh why did I listen to them lol

It’s all about the congeners. The clearer the alcohol the less congeners the darker the more. It’s those that cause hangovers.
So gin and vodka (y)
Red wine and Jack Daniels (n)
Google it , I think it’s right.

Hmmmm not convinced I've had blinders on white wine and cider

Had a little cycle around the town and went to see the monastery...free entry and quite interesting....its set among the orange groves and quite picturesque....its still mid renovation so a mix of partially restored and a ruin but we'll worth a dander round. There's a few other things to see in the town , there's a natural spring with a pond and giant fish , an old mosque which has been turned in to a small chapel, and quite a few wee cafes and restaurants....
