Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

Take her out, G does that when she’s bored.
Mind you if G feels carpet under her paws & a large space she goes loopy too only she’s a lot faster than Jade!

"Oh do take some notice of me and come and play Dad" :D:D

Asking for walkies I think :). She's lovely.
This I should point out was after our walk in the park where she had been chasing the ball with her collie friend holly for half an hour lol

Ten minutes after that video this was her

[Corrected to 'Queen's - some respect for your and our Sovereign, please]

It does extend to some British [correction English], outposts such as S. Poland. I used to be complimented on my Cabin Addresses (Except by the Aberdeen-London passengers)

Would you like to hear one?.....

........" This is your Captain speaking...."

Oh maybe not then.

Tam maybe Mum would like some more apple crumble.

Hope her hospital food isn’t like what @Anthea M had in hospital, if so she needs you to take treats in for her.

Nae mair apples on the tree and she ate a bit but wasn't that keen ....she's not enjoying much at the minute we have been taking in allsorts from homemade meals to soup to takeaways etc but she's just generally off food which is a nightmare.
Drinks are another challenge as she doesn't like just water and it's often warm ...But we've been through nearly every type and flavour of juice there is and she tries a glass and then that's it she don't like it after that

She's certainly keeping us all on our toes

Try pineapple juice & tonic water - it sometimes cuts through that odd taste you get with medication. Although if your sisters a nurse you’ve probably already tried it!

Aye we've tried everything...nothing lasts more than a glass then she won't drink anymore

Well not much happening on the motorhome front , still tinkering away with bits here and there while I wait on dvla sorting my tax out and then maybe I'll get a weekend away to enjoy the van.

I applied for a couple of jobs with the local asda as a delivery driver and warehouse worker ....waiting to see how that goes.

Mum's still up and down , she seems really tired every evening:( yesterday she got so confused and when they brought her dinner ( fish and potato wedges ) at 5pm she gkt all upset because she thought the nurses were playing a trick on her as she was convinced it was morning time and wanted her breakfast
Ended up with tea and toast.
Then when I arrived at 6pm she was asking me what I was doing up at that time and why I wasn't working :(

I hope it was just a one of spell of confusion

My sister is determined she's taking mum out of the hospital in two weeks time after her antibiotics are supposed to stop , she wants to hire a hospital style bed and get mum home....she has had countless arguments with the staff because she doesn't feel the level of care mum's getting is good enough.
In some ways I agree especially with the canula episodes which still aren't resolved
Mums covered in bruises and often she's buzzed for a nurse to help her to.toilet and had to wait nearly an hour etc.

I'm kind of worried about that ...I'm not sure what's for the best.

Trying to kind of just go with the flow and see how things work out.

Wish your mum well Tam, bloody horrible time for all involved especially your mum. Sister seems to be pretty switched on though. Hope everything works out ok. Best wishes.

If your sister can get her home and she’s not on iv antibiotics then it’s probably the best thing. The confusion can be with dehydration if she’s not drinking. If your sister can be with her all day she can get her drinking & moving - that’s the most important thing. Wish you well.

That's the thing with my sisters work she can't possibly do that and with mum's mobility how it is I can't see how it's possible.
My sister of course will be thinking because I'm here in mum's house that I'll be able to do this ..But that won't work either. While I'm here I need to do some kind of work at the minute my outgoings are very little and I've been managing fine on the money I've got from selling off lots of stuff I no longer need so I've not been using my savings etc.
But if I'm home for a few months I do need to earn and mum's in no fit state just now to look after herself.

Yes ,I'd second that.
Could you see about some pop in help from the council or something like that while you are working ?

Hi Tam
Gus suggested asking the Council for help. Your sister will probably know about your options but I suggest you start thinking about this immediately. Having been through the process with both my mother and my wife’s, I know how long it can take.
There will be a liaison in the hospital.
I don’t know if the NHS operates differently in Scotland but, if the conditions are met, your mother might be entitled to weekly Attendance Allowance (around £90) and one of you could be entitled to Carer’s Allowance (around £30).
We found the DWP staff very helpful if a little “the computer says.....”.
I know you hope to work in the near future but I temporarily left my job to care for Hilary’s mum, and I was glad I did. You will not get pop in care that matches your mum’s needs or wishes. Over 4 months I started as a taxi service come helper but this quickly changed to a much more serious role. I hope you do not have to go there, at least for some time.
Your mum may need help getting to the toilet, getting dressed, having a bath or shower, making meals, taking medication, etc.. and she will want company as she will be anxious and worried 24/7.
We still had a nurse popping in twice a week but s/he could never guarantee when as they have many demands on their time.

If she needs support at home, for the medium to long term, it maybe worth considering a personal budget provided by the local council. My Mum has a set amount per month to buy her own care. I manage the staff, and payroll, which I can do from abroad, on the internet. Mum has a regular team of carers who know her well, and who treat her like an adult, despite her health issues. We can choose how to use the budget to suit her needs. If you want any further details pm me. She has MS and memory and confusion issues, and cannot manage her own team, but we do it on her behalf. It beats having lots of carers giving her 15 minutes if she is lucky.

Lots on the tv with respect of the NHS being under staffed, I've had no first hand knowledge untill today.
A neighbour who lives on her own asked my wife if she would pick her up from hospital at 2pm after being discharged followings a operation,
She arrived there at 1.45 just had a phone call from her at 4pm she is still there......wait for it, they are waiting for a porter to wheel our neighbour to the car 2 hours and she's still there, my wife offered to wheel her to the car but apparently the ward does not have the correct chair the porter brings it.

Ps. The neighbour is 80 and has cancer, and has difficulty walking more than 20 yds

Update. My wife has gone to reception to ask for a chair, they had none but she found one on her way back to the ward, got the ok from reception to use it 10 minutes later neighbour is in the car and she's leave the hospital 3 hours after arriving and still no porter to be seen.

Tam, best wishes to your mum. I also wonder if she is dehydrated? Could you not take a flask of tea or coffee in for her when you visit?

Good luck with the job applications.
