Tam & co the great winter escape

My new boy Guapo, until recently an abandoned stray has chewed up and destroyed one or two relatively expensive items in the house. I have told him off and pointed out that he is a "bad dog* but I have remembered that both him and his name are precious. He looks at me sorrowfully with his big green eyes, (I have never known a dog with green eyes before) and my heart melts.
Let's be having a photo of him then!

Hi Minxy, I don't feel I should hi-jack Tam's thread even more -so will endeavour to put a piccy in the "pets" thread, I think I've seen here somewhere.
Wouldn’t it be a good idea to have a Daily Dog Thread as they appear to make such a contribution to our daily lives?

Saw this and immediately thought of Tam

Its a little cold and windy tonight but the next 3 or 4 days is forecast to be nice ....im now in messini ....stayed here twice last year but im a little farther along the beach this time. Marsha and dave have rejoined us now and we have a little spot to ourselves looking over to the mountains on the mani ....fair bit of snow on them that wasn't there this time last year. ....after i arrived about another 8 vans have turned up so theres now about 15 on this stretch of beach. Last time i was here there was only 2 others . ....had my washing out in the breeze for a bit and ive put up my Christmas decorations 😁

Not a great internet signal right now so having probs uploading pics ill try again later

What's your thoughts on the iveco now you have spent a significant bit of time in it?

Crap layout , a bit underpowered but otherwise its not bad .

A few changes here and there and a bit of a tidy and it will make someone a good van.

But its not a patch on the vario

I know but I couldn’t resist it 😃

keep the sunny photos coming , it was -3 here last night
Overnight isn't much better here this year but not quite as bad

In my coach business days, I had a slightly older Iveco mini-bus. This had a diesel feed pump (not injector pump) near the top of the engine and I vaguely remember we had underpower problems and this was caused by either a worn cam or rod operating said diesel feed pump?
If it gets worse, might be worth checking? Take care and keep photos coming. :envy:

I think its just a heavy van for a 2.3 engine ....cruises fine on the flat but hills its a bit sluggish ...up and down box like a winda cleaner on a ladder 😁

Ours is Iveco March 2005 first generation 3.0 litre, 4.9 tonne, it goes uphill like a racing car.
Never imagined you could have so much power at hand in a Motorhome. No fancy electronics, no cat, no dpf,

Fingers crossed had it nearly 4 years and it’s not put a foot wrong apart from a new starter motor.

Yeah i think the 2.8 version of these would be better.i found the 2.8 in the hymer to be more than capable. Onna straight hill this isnt too bad although you still have to drop down to 4th ...but on the windy hills you struggle to get out of 2nd 3rd

Not sure what year yours is Tam, the Iveco 3 litre first came out in 2004, to replace the 2.8, it is chain driven as opposed to the belt of the 2.8.
The 2.8 was 145bhp in Iveco form and the 3 litre 166bhp, the same 2.8 engine was used by Fiat but the Fiat one had both 128bhp and 145bhp.
I know, I’m a saddo😄

This one is only a 2.3 litre. Not sure of the horsepower

Tam, a few days ago you ran out of data and you were using Jackie's until she ran out but you are still posing photos full size.
Why don't you reduce them if you take them down to 1280x960 or 1024x768, they will look the same once uploaded & will upload in a fraction of the time and use a tenth of the data.

How would one go about that?

I use the "Photo & Picture Resizer" app, you can do batch resizing it takes seconds. A lot of images I upload are taken on a camera I transfer them to my phone or tablet then resize them before uploading.
e.g. A 3.5mb file taken to 1280x960 comes down to 405k & at 1024x768 only 278k.
