Tam & co the great winter escape

Typically theres a nice scooter rack in Nottingham. But id use twice as much in fuel going to collect it as hes asking for it.
Could someone collect it for you and hold it until you get near? Or Shipley can collect for way less then it would cost you ?

You can get a quote from ParcelMonkey. I've used them previously; their prices are very good.

Tam, as someone else has mentioned, Shiply is well worth a go - it's a way of getting quotes from transport companies to move bulky items, totally different to the overnight parcel websites.

I've used it quite a few times with no problems - I've just moved a very heavy gearbox from North Yorkshire down to Shropshire, £85, I'd spend way more than that in fuel going and getting it. Previous one was 4 car alloys with tyres from Northumberland, £50. Works well providing you're not in a hurry - they consolidate loads together so it can take 10 days or so, just depends what the courier has on. No need to pack items like you do for parcel couriers.

The gearbox people I used specialise in moving vehicle parts - they'd move the scooter rack no problem. They move a lot of body panels. They were very good, kept in contact and the gearbox arrived well protected.

I've just had to pay 175€ +iva = 35€= 210€ to get my new gearbox from Cannes to here1274km :cry::cry:Then the same to return the old one.:crying::crying:
I used Shiply to get a Car Trailer to Malaga at a cost of £180.00 a bargain l thought, they towed it so not a lot of cost to them other than getting caught at the Tolls.
Didn't cost them even that as they probably loaded it front to back & 2m in height.

Is the take away delivery still a busy business tam or are people cutting back..?
Only done 2 nights so far but both were reasonably busy.

The delivery charges have went up to cover the extra costs in fuel so i don't have to do as many to make the same money.

But i start back again tonight

Except your paying more for fuel ?
Or does it cover fuel increase and some extra ?
Do you have to handle cash payments or does customer pay direct or online.

It works out i make the same doing 4 deliveries as i used to do with 5.
Obviously the fuel is dearer but its working out ok at the minute

Quote from comedian Omid Djalili:-

Why does everybody keep complaining about this government? They’re doing brilliantly. For example my car used to only hold £65 of petrol, now it holds £90 worth. That’s way more than a couple of years ago when Jeremy Corbyn was Prime Minister.

Down on power today 😱 we've had 3 or 4 days of dull and cloudy with showers. Not much sun so my banks are down to this

Im obviously getting some power in as my daily useage is around 50ah from the left bank and 10-15ah from the right.
On a clear sunny day thats normally replaced but only getting maybe a third to half that back at the minute.
Have switched the inverter and fridge off for the day to see how much i harvest with nothing running.

Wow Tam, lord help the rest of us if you are down on power with that set up.
Its mostly the inverter and fridge running 24/7 that does it. But when travelling it shouldn't be an issue as i also have the b2b

Yeah mines are clean as weve had rain . But no sunshine yesterday or today .
I had rain in the highlands day before yesterday Tam but noticed my panels are ready for a clean. It was a full day of rain as well so thought they would be cleaner.
