Lol it was called a tongue in cheek bit of fun my post. You are a cynical lot.
I did not want to hijack Tam's thread onto financial matters.
I am a lawyer and ex Compliance Officer in Financial Services, so any suggestion that my advice could be other than ethical is a bit off the mark.
I am pleased to help people make the best of their cash within the tax-free boundaries that the UK government have set.
My post was to help somebody who might or might not be aware of putting their own-controlled cash into a tax-free ISA. There is a dead-line in about 48 hours.
Have any of the posters quoted above got any objection to that approach?
Will all of those quoted please reply.

Go fill your boots then.Man i am so conflicted today.
Who's bright idea was it to look at motorhomes. Maybe the covid surge has stopped , or cost of living has had an affect but there seems to be a few nice vans out there just now at the 20 -25 k range i was looking for last year when i wanted to change the hymer.
I’ve not seen many Tam that aren’t overpriced even panel vans to convert yourself seem to still be expensiveMan i am so conflicted today.

Ive got a few on my eBay watchlist at present, a frankia , 4 hobby's and a chausson. All between 22k and 25kI’ve not seen many Tam that aren’t overpriced even panel vans to convert yourself seem to still be expensive
Simple life = Happy Life, l think you are on the right track, not to mention your earning power when you are not building your Van.Hence the conflict because nothing was out there last year i liked which is why i decided i was going to build my own. Now part of me is thinking what an easy life i had with just the motorhome and a car to use for work.
It is , there were several reasons for building my own , durability , only having what i need in it rather than extra beds etc , weight carrying,. Wood burner , etc etc .I thought part of the problem was durability as well, we all know most motorhomes are a little flimsey for full time use ?
I think your Vario is a great project, but can understand if it's feeling a little daunting having just a shell siting there waiting to have piles of cash poured in.
You can do it. You’ve done a lot of the hardest stuff already. As you say, once you are back on it you will get it done. And if you decide to move abroad I’m sure you would sell the vario if necessary no problem once it’s done. And I’m sure you could get help if necessary on some bits.It is , there were several reasons for building my own , durability , only having what i need in it rather than extra beds etc , weight carrying,. I think once I'm back working on it ill feel better , i think just now its a bit daunting how much work still to do and not sure of my capabilities , its ok having ideas but im no joiner , plumber or electrician so i guess im worried about whether i can actually do what id like to do . And also thinking about should i decide to buy a small plot abroad later whether i could register the vario in another country .
Theres pros and cons to everything i guess. And im the worst for making a decision and sticking with it.
Lenny's in line for the electricsAnd I’m sure you could get help if necessary on some bits
That’s why he has left the country today.
Aye ive done a lot to it that i wasn't sure i could do this time last year. And the finished image i have in my head is a beautiful van with a lot of unique ideas you don't get with a factory van.You can do it. You’ve done a lot of the hardest stuff already. Again its something that may or may not ever happen. But im keeping my options open.I think the small plot abroad is a good idea but from watching one or two YouTube ers do it, finding the right plot isn't easy.
How straight forward it would be to register your Vario there I've no idea but I'm sure others will be able to advise
Yeah i mean I've done a lot of diy over the years on my houses and previous campers etc so im not a complete novice. Doing it outside with no garage etc though may throw up problemsso far you have been concentrating on the metal work which is what you know about and are comfortable with, when i built my sprinter the first thing i did was to install the tanks and the wiring and insulation and i was as you a bit concerned about the woodwork it but i learnt to use a router and bought a cheap table saw and was happy with the results
Im hoping to get back on it next week as i need to get the paintwork on the panels i fitted sorted again before they rust anymore. And get the welding on the rear end sorted. Ill just keep an eye on what comes up while i go .I'd say get stuck into the Vario, then at some point decide if your doing it for yourself and keeping, or flipping it for a tidy profit and buying a coachbuilt.
The spec and finish on the Vario can be adjusted accordingly.
Theres a hobby 600 and a very nice hobby 700. The 700 is a tag again but interior is beautiful. My friend has that model Frankia. Lovely van, downsides for me are no fixed bed, although the drop down is low.
And no garage.
Lots of outside storage, but you need to bend or kneel to get at it.
I like the Hobby. If its the 600 private sale. I have always liked the looks of the Hobby.
Attach your Vario to the back, and you would fit right in with the Romany travellers. They favour Hobbys.
Good luck whatever you decide. I think you will feel better, once you get stuck in again.

Yeah i was looking for a hobby 600 when i bought the hymer. Always loved the look of them . The one on eBay just now is very clean looking but he's not budging on price and i wouldn't give the 26k hes asking for it.I had a hobby 600 great van. Apart from the rust on the cab arches. The galvanised part was perfect. Nice low profile.![]()
I paid £11k for it sold a year/half later for £16.5kYeah i was looking for a hobby 600 when i bought the hymer. Always loved the look of them . The one on eBay just now is very clean looking but he's not budging on price and i wouldn't give the 26k hes asking for it.
