Tam and Toby ~~ Hunting Zorba .....Take two.

Never see any 'locals' in your photos. Are there any anywhere?
There were lots about at Agios nikolaos ...i was chatting to a few at the bar in town and at the beach where i was parked.
Last place i was at the ampitheatre was quite remote so only a couple of women gathering acorns and rabbit food ...and of course the shepherd who passed twice a day.
This spot is remote too so no locals about at the minute

They are around here and there but with the weather being crap the last 2 or 3 days and with covid restrictions theres not many.

But the Mani is a bit like the far north of scotland or the dales in Yorkshire ....very remote

A few more pics from a walk this morning the Frenchies made a sharp getaway this morning ....and after our walk we moved on too as very windy here and parked on a slope.....

Its completely abandoned apart from the coffee shop which is the first building on the right hand side ...the rest are gutted most have collapsed ceilings

Drove down past many morr abandoned villages and then hiked out to the lighthouse which is the most Southernly point of pellopenese ....gates of hades you can see crete from here in the distance to the south east

Really really windy ....im uploading the pics from the lighthouse because weirdly theres internet signal here but not at the van ....its beautiful here but barren and wild

Tam

I doubt that you are seeing Crete from there in that visibility as it is almost 60 miles. It is much more likely to be Kithira.(I have sailed into there).

From the pics it does look wild so the wild man of Fife must be feeling at home, although that looks wilder than Fife and more like Orkney or Shetland.

If not before, the weather should improve when you get past C. Malea and up the E. coast past Monevasia towards towards Nafplio, because you will be in the shadow of the mountains and even more so when you get into the Saronic Gulf. From Monevasia you will be on my old stomping ground till you get up to Corinth, so I may be able to give you some pointers.

Tam do what did and shave the beard 🧔 off and leave a well groomed Tash ( start a new trendy tash Scottish) I heard the ladies love a well groomed tash. So much they insist on showing their own well groomed tashhhy. 😷👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Tam do no such thing! A well groomed beard is a handsome thing as long as it's not being used to hide receding or double chins!
My mother told me never to trust a man with a moustache and like your Mum, she was right about most things.
Having tried both, I infinitely prefer a bearded man to one with a moustache, may e it's a case of all or nothing 😃

Blimey ! That sea and weather looks more like the Atlantic and the west coast of Eire than the Ionian and Greece !
You can see why a lot of the villages and houses are abandoned ....you neee to be hardy i think to live out here. Any locals i have seen here have the classic weatherbeaten aged look about them.
Stunning scenery though.
