Rally Swaffham Shindig (formally the Thetford Bash )

or as @Langtoftlad said I'd put them on the less desirable pitches.
That isn't actually what I was suggesting  .
Much more selfish ... I was curious if the marshalls started pitching from the furthest point from the club and worked in, or from the club house fanning out?
Given the comments about arriving 'early', and being a first time shindigger, I wondered if there was any benefit being one of the first to arrive?

There isn't really a bad spot to be honest, the marshalls filled around the outside of the lower pitch first then the centre. Last time we only used one pitch but there is two to use so think they might be a few on the top pitch this time as more attendees but both the same distance to the clubhouse, elsan and water.

Plan. Plan? No-one ever said we had to have a plan! More a case of where we can plank the next van.
Plank - what the pitching is going to be multi storey this year?

There looks to be several places dotted around The forest, looking on Google Earth. I'm coming up from St Neots CCC and as a member of National Trust looking at either Wicken Fen or the Wimpole Estate so I can walk my dog Muffie
Wimpole is a lovely estate to walk round.

One letter typo, makes all the difference.

I actually typed it with an o but autocorrect changed it while I had my back turned. :crying:

. Great idea until you have more vans in the sign in area than parked  it also depending on individual plans work ,distance travelled, road traffic and weather conditions I followed the instructions last year on time of arrival and the site was nearly full as many had turned up early always feel for the marshalls they do work hard

At present I don't know what day I'm heading east let alone eta.

I used s4s lSt year and found a lovely stop just past the original Thetford location in the forest with a cafe lake and free parking

I never specify a turn up time at Quakers (and I have seen it when marshalling at Malvern) , whatever time of day you say, there will inevitably be a queue and there is no space for that in the single track lane. Turn up when you like, gets everyone nicely spaced out.

Never been a problem for us we say from 6am 🤣🤣 Don’t try it 🤬

Just spoken to Eric at the rugby club
He is laying some real ale ( ( Woodmans Wherry ? or similar )
Bar will be open thursday evening, Friday and Saturday evening... But Sunday MAY be a problem due to lack of bar staff, so we might just have to supply our own .. The club house will still be open no matter what :-)

Hi John,
It is with great sadness that I have had to let my head rule my heart and pull out of this rally as I was hospitalised towards the end of the Norden Farm Meet.
I was so looking forward to Swaffam but as they say 💩 happens. Silver lining… my goal is to be strong enough for Bridlington in 2 weeks😀 and look forward to seeing some of you there.
Please donate my fees, (including fish and chips and roast dinner if not already paid for) to the Air Ambulance Charity.

Can someone point me to the post with the list of attendees please?
List of attendees is not made public due to some folk not wanting it known they will not be at home... sorry

That’s interesting…. I’ve not had that mentioned to us for the 3f’s but it does beg the question that maybe the rally section should only be viewed by members only? Seeings as only paid up members can attend them…

I do like to see an attendance list (y)
Nice to see who are attending and stock the drinks cabinet to suit...

When people are using "handles" you would really need to know someone well to use the list and be up to no good.
Who is this Jaws bloke anyway ? where does he live? when will he be out ??:rofl:

Good idea Lisa
I'll be doing a straw poll when we do ours.

We had to tighten up our financials for rallies following some scrote abstracting our details onto a cheque (x2) and making off with nearly £2000 of the Bank's money.
