Summer in Spain (again)

I've not had chance to get on here so far today 😥😥🤣🤣.

We left home at around 9 a.m. after finishing the van loading, cleaning the fridge and freezer, and washing the apartment floors. I know they'll need doing again when we get back in three or four months time, but I couldn't have Salva, our keyholder, sticking to the floors as he did his checks 😂.

We decided to stop in Alhama for me to shop in our Aldi there, because I know the layout. It gave Martin chance to have another go at our left side indicator that, intermittently, fails (and the brake light). It's all down to a bad earth.

We stopped to get some gas at our nearest Repsol station. No problem.

We then headed to Molina de Segura to fill up with cheap diesel. A moments hesitation on the motorway, and we sailed past our exit. So we continued around on the motorway to the place I'd already found with the cheapest fuel (and LPG as it turned out).

It's right off junction 126.

We then continued to drive on the new motorway past Yecla.

Not very busy!

Ayora, as we passed.

And our shady spot.

And view to the castle.

We've been here before so we don't need to explore. We just want a quiet night before we continue north.

My bit....quiet night, some rain, we remained the only van on this official Camperstop, traffic light just the odd vehicle passing just now...
Nice to be in cooler conditions without the threatening Sahara Dust clouds causing problems.
Deciding where and how far today's travel takes us....need to put ourselves in a good location without challenging weather to get the bikes used...🤔🇪🇦👍

So, I've got my chance to post.

We had a damp night, but it didn't stop us sleeping well.

We had a lovely drive towards, and slightly beyond, Teruel, even though the first part took us past the eyesore that is the nuclear power station near Cofrentes.

I'd found a new motorhome area at the Laguna del Cañizar. There's not much here, motorhome wise, just a huge gravel parking area and a part built service point. It's still under development, we think.

We had a stroll to the lagunas.

Maybe another evening stroll will be on the cards.

The weather was damp on our drive, but now it's sunny, even though that's against the advice of the government meteo website 😀

I'm sitting here typing, and listening to at least one Golden Oriole calling. We're hoping it stays quiet for tonight.

What a shame for views, but I suppose it gives work to the locals?

Then, getting away from there we passed through lots of vineyards.

And then, the nice road through the rocky terrain to Teruel, and beyond. My photos aren't sharing twixt my phone and tablet, so there's now a gap.

The next ones are from our parking at the Laguna parking.

It's here, 🥳 our departure day, going on our Holls,🥳on a Monday? Isn't Monday Washing day? Didn't everyone go on their fortnight away on a Saturday ? We've lost two days already...never mind...we can tag a couple of days on at the end...or even a week or two....
Not driving too far today a couple of hundred KMs to break me in, and to reduce the constant questioning."Are we there yet" 😀
Hooray, off we go!

Sitting in the van in freezing cold Lewis, hoping to be warmed by some sunny photos!

Did you pack enough teabags

We sure did thanks....it's not over hot here either, but we haven't got a heat seeking itinerary, we get enough of that back home...
Must be nice to be in Lewis now, and being cold keeps the wee beasties away....I imagine...

That's true, if they do defrost then they get blown away by the gale force 10

We were heading for Olite, but got sidetracked by the sign to Arguedas, just after we bought fuel ...

The cheapest yet. Will we regret it? Doubt it with our old van's diesel engine.

We've been here before, maybe in 2017, or maybe not. Anyway, we didn't get chance to ride in the Bardenas Reales then, so tomorrow, first thing, that's our plan.

We'll be out later to take photos of the caves.

I've just hunted all through the innards of my Galaxy tab, looking for my approval copy of "Go West" by Andy Mckettrick.

Anyone heading for the real north coast of Spain, could find this of good use.

No Judith Van still waiting repairs while they think of more excuses if they cannot fix by 28th RAC should repatriate it to UK

Oh Les, I can't believe you've been so long waiting for your motorhome to be repaired.

It does seem that repatriation is going to be, eventually, the best option for you.

We gripe about a broken tap, or a inefficiently working solar panel, or similar. It's nothing compared to your breakdown, and subsequent long wait for repair.

Our few days, in various places in the past, pale into insignificance.

I'll keep fingers crossed 🤞🤞 and good luck 🍀🍀 for a better outcome for you 💕

Our ride today was very nice, and easy, but it wasn't exactly what we'd imagined. We thought "more Badlands" but it wasn't. We've done Badlands before so we were happy with something slightly different.

First, we climbed up a narrow, surfaced road, to a roundabout and a bigger road. Carparks off to the right were full of coaches, with more arriving. Spanish kids, we think, arriving for a lesson on nature or archaeology.

Anyway, we continued and rode up to another Ermita. The difference with buildings here are that they're built with small bricks, not stone.

The ride from there took us through a bit of Badlands area but then we rode through fields of gold (lots of corn, ready for cutting).

We then turned a corner and arrived at a reservoir. Full of water ...

We've now driven 20km or so north of Pamplona, with a quick Aldi shop on route.

We're at a "parking" area near a tiny village, somewhere to the right of the road to Irun.

Photos of that ... later ...

We're parked (not camped) in the parking area of the tiny, pristine village, of Lantz. We've had a stroll around. There's not much happening at the moment, but apparently something will happen on/from June 15th. We'll not be here then ...

Today we've watched a Short Toed Eagle that seemed to fly over to watch us? Lots of Griffon Vultures, and here, directly from the motorhome, some Red Kites.

A good birding day and a lovely place to spend the night.

Just watched the UK ITV news where they have been reports of horrendous flooding in Murcia today. I thought perhaps you have not heard.
Thanks for update...we did catch it on local news whilst we are up here in the North...Murcia region needed a steady spell of rain... certainly not as it has been delivered just now.

Yes a friend has just alerted me to the past few days of heavy rain in Murcia do I’ve had a look online. Too busy with domestic chores 😜. Pretty bad flooding in the north but yesterday Cartagena area, including Mazarron got 31L/ hour whilst Murcia had 60L on Tuesday I think. Looks like that thunder & rain you had on Monday further north was the start of it. Awful for those affected but we’ve seen it a lot in recent years where we lived. Keep safe, we enjoyed Pamplona area 😊
