Summer in Spain (again)

The motor didnt arrive 😡. Maybe today 🤞🤞🤞

Martin's fitting a solar controller on a friends motorhome at 7.30 a.m. today. Need to do it early to beat the heat. I'm riding at 9.30 with Kay and Lynda. It'll be nice to have company.

Everything is almost ready to go, just have to do a bit of washing and cleaning beforehand. Just the bloomin' motor holding us back.

Solar controller fitted in record time. I went for a "different" ride. Part time mtb riders, part time roadies, we rode to a cafe and back 🙄. I didn't mind too much because I wanted to catch up with Lynda.

The motor still hasn't arrived, but the driver has spoken to Martin and he's definitely coming .... sometime. At least we know it'll be here this week 🤔 so, it looks like we'll be on our travels on Monday 🤞and I can write about more interesting things.

So, all going to our plan, we'll be on the road to somewhere on Monday.

I've committed to cat feeding until after the last feed on Sunday evening, so I'll honour that. Where we go on Monday is now down to the weather gods. I have lots of saved places, and things to do, but they may have to wait for another time if its too hot to stop.

I'm sooooo excited 🤣🤣

As Judith has said...Shimano eBike motor is now back where it belongs....now I need to re-assemble the bike, give it a test ride, then if all goes well, advise the nice lady neighbour that she has her bike....and I will have an increase in my current account...
Most MH tasks are finished...I've put fork mounts in the garage, which as simple as it looked, has been a pain...this should enable me to load and unload the 2 eMTBs we will travel with this year...
New bathroom tap fitted, New Portable solar panel, prepared. Broken window stay, replaced. Even managed to get a reasonable windbreak for our cadac...which has always been problematic using with even the slightest breeze... I'm sure other jobs will appear as our planned departure gets nearer..

We’re going to try & see if Sharon can get into the van soon & if so we hope to get away locally soon too. Can’t wait, wish we were over there too. Have a good safe trip 😊

Thank you.

I hope you can get away soon yourselves 🤞🍀

We've had our final Murcian ride before we leave for the summer. It was only a short ride, and in the Badlands area we've ridden in a few times recently. This time though, we took the out and back to the Mirador viewpoint and then we rode a long track through another bit of the Badlands.

It's been warm and still is, even though its now clouded over.

We're definitely planning our getaway on Monday.

The Badlands and embalse from the Mirador.

And across the other side of the canal road.

Then we took a short detour to look at a place that's now on P4N.

Motorhome parking area, Campo Toni, open in the autumn, winter, spring.

Better fill up with water before you go as that reservoir looks like it’s not going to last the summer…😟🤔
Might be better to fill at our first nights stopover....not all of Spain has had a lack of rainfall...although here in Murcia we certainly have had
With average daily temperatures of about 30°c and no sign of any significant change, it could prove to be a difficult summer.

We are now on our way back to Spain and for tonight's stop it is currently 24C at 23.30.
So quite warm in the Lot dept.
Last night in the Correze and a lovely cool 14C.
Woke up to 🌧️ this morning which was a novelty but only for an hour then back to the ☀️.
Enjoy your summer break
We won't be too long behind you.

We had two half hearted rain bouts in the night. About a dozen drops each time. Not enough to do any good to the land, but enough to bring down some of the dust onto our freshly washed bikes. Poor Martin, he spent ages yesterday cleaning them. No rain was forecast, so they weren't covered.

It's going to be around 35° again today, so outdoor work has to be done early.

My blue bike now has its motor refitted and it's working. The chain ring and chain and pedals will be fitted today and then Martin can try it out. If all's OK it's going into our friends' apartment and they'll be informed.

So, the weather forecasts around Spain will be the deciding factor of which direction we set off on Monday.

Galicia Cantabria Asturias Cool 👍
Will be up that way late July into August, like most years..

I've been a very neighbourly and considerate Motorhomer...today..
"I've changed my SOG filter" the one taken out was ready for a change, having been in for about 8 years...🤭

Phew 🥴..this preparation stuff for a 3 or 4 month tour can be somewhat challenging...however, we are nearly there...even cleaned the Hymer this morning at the local CarWash...it has side gantries to give access to the top...and my word, the roof needed a clean...we park near Jacaranda trees....they produce so much gunge, my solar was black.... couldn't imagine my harvest would be off the scale with this much crap on it ..
Also been to the 2€ public bascula...(Weighbridge) and weighed in at a fighting weight if 3280kg...a top up of fuel, LPG and two lightweight occupants should put us around 3500kg....we don't carry vast amounts of water, our first overnight stop has a service point....so tomorrow we depart our apartment and head off... exactly where....not sure...first overnight...Jalance in the Region de Valencia..but cooler there with a chance of rain...
Hope to return to Murcia in late September or early October...
Please keep reading jumartoo summer tour thread....I have a feeling it could be good...🇪🇦😀

I must admit here, Martin has worked his socks off (well if he'd been wearing any) to get our van ready for a three month, or so, trip away.

In between he did the solar stuff for our friends Kay and David, and got my old blue bike back suitable for the friends and neighbours to buy. I think he'll really welcome a trip away.

He's already said we're heading up the Ayora valley and onto Teruel. I've found some nice places to stay, with good rides to do, and the weather forecast, so far, for us, is better than most.

We looking at heading, roughly, in the direction of Pamplona. That's our plan, anyway.

I had a dream (nay a nightmare) in the early hours of this morning. I'd only gone away on our trip and we'd forgotten to take the motorhome (just had a bike and a tent), but worse, I'd forgotten my camera, tablet, Garmin and all chargers and cables. I don't know where Martin was at the time of my dream. He, strangely, didn't feature.

I had a battery depleted phone, but no way to charge it, and I was trying to go down an up escalator with my bike.

Luckily I woke before I got too stressed 🤣🤣🤣

It's crazy where dreams take your mind.

Very weird. 🤔🤣 got to love a good dream/nightmare, it makes you realise you are alive and kicking. I get them now and again.

Travelled past Teruel on the A23 many times but never stopped there until a return journey in March. A nice place and cheap fuel, always a bonus!
Enjoy the trip, give me some more ideas please.

It's here, 🥳 our departure day, going on our Holls,🥳on a Monday? Isn't Monday Washing day? Didn't everyone go on their fortnight away on a Saturday ? We've lost two days already...never mind...we can tag a couple of days on at the end...or even a week or two....
Not driving too far today a couple of hundred KMs to break me in, and to reduce the constant questioning."Are we there yet" 😀
