Another local band coming to the River Festival is the Simon Kemp Rhythm and Blues Orchestra:

"The Simon Kemp Rhythm and Blues Orchestra is an eighteen piece band playing the best in soul, blues and big fat grooves. With a five piece rhythm section, loads of horns, four backing singers and guest vocalists, expect to sing, dance and get soaked in the good vibes this band puts out.

AND Simon will be running our first Festival Choir on the acoustic stage before the band’s set! So if you fancy getting up and having your moment on the Bandstand with the SKR&BO go along to the rehearsal!"

We had a lovely meal at Lambs Restaurant last year & their Tripdadvisor reviews are still mostly excellent & they have Food Hygiene top rating score of 5 so we have messaged then to see if a group meal might be possible to squeeze into the Rally weekend - their set menu is good value for that area at £15 for two courses or £19 for three (y)

The River Festival 2018 brochure should be available online from 12th June - will be handy to help plan the weekend & make a note of the things we don't want to miss :)

If you've never tried a rally before then you will be assured of a warm welcome :hi: but no pressure to join in. We have a good mix of Fun & RVOC (sister club https://www.rvoc.co.uk/forum/find-new/5612782/posts ) members at this one (y)

Although we have run many meets before - this year Stratford & Lymington are the first Fun & RVOC rallies that we are responsible for so on checking the Rally Marshal's Handbook we do need all those attending to be aware of The Countryside Code & The Seashore Code

Yes we do know Stratford isn't near the sea so it is just to adhere to the requirements that we are pointing this out!
 
All those attending these rallies should also be aware of The Code For Caravans (includes motorhomes :)) - please see page 2 of the attached PDF which is the only version I could find online:

As posted on other rallies, we have presently a problem that after several occasions of been towed - our towing eye will not attach to our frame and we can not be towed under any circumstances for a while (getting Rapido to order a new one and cutting off the old one is proving difficult as a starter!)

What is the ground like at this rally please as really want to attend but can’t risk getting stuck

Hi - sure others will be able to advise on the Racecourse ground conditions much better than us as have only stayed there once in dry weather so it was fine. There are no hardstanding areas anywhere in the rally field so can't offer you that option & we do have to drive across some grass as we will be in the middle of the race track.
Keeping our fingers crossed for sunshine!

Thank you - wouldn’t be bothered if our old van - it just seemed to go anywhere with no problems but the Rapido just seems to sink(n)
