We stopped at the Aire below, it’s basically just a large car park with black waste. However it’s only 5 minutes walk from a couple of restaurants and cafes plus a lovely lakeside beach, I think it was around October when we stopped and all was open but not sure about February.
When you go makes such a difference. We are on a pleasant aire near the Loire at the moment but the village is shut. It may begin to re emerge in the spring.
We HAD to stop once on an Autoroute aire (pre motorhome) we were moved by the Gendarmes as it was ""TOOO Dangerouse"" and we were corralled under the lighted area near the shop along with 6 others and the Police patrol came round hourly
Apparently there were gangs of thieves targeting the Aires and robbing people when they were asleep
We now use a late train stop at the Auchan at Boulogne then drive next morning ending up between Le Man and Bordeaux using Search for Sites for a top and the French APP for fuel called Essence (loads on English phone as Petrol) give prices and works into Spain too
