hi all
Looking for a convenient place to stay for a night in Bath wild or site thats easy walk to city center
any recommendations?

Not just over 3.5tons, our swift bolero was caught by the LEZ . Cost me £160 as The warning signs are so small we did not know there was an LEZ. The first we knew was a bill for £ 220 for failing to pay. Penalty for not paying on the day only halved to £60 if you pay within 7 days and forfiet your rights to contest the charge. An utter rip off!

Its all well and good trying to improve the air but how does the leg impact on businesses? People aren't going to go into these zones for fear of hefty charges.
I would shop elsewhere rather than risk a fine

I guess the primary responsibility of the councils, who impose these LEZ's, is to the children of the residents of these towns and cities. Air pollution is a real problem and old/large Diesel engines are a significant part of the problem.

Despite the LEZ, last weekend Bath city centre was full of stationery traffic so there's still a way still to go. The answer lies in park and ride schemes, e-bikes, pedal bikes, electric short range vehicles

How do people that live in bath and own a mh go on, do they get charged every time they drive of their drive?

Bath Marina (again). It’s the location, perfect for Bath. Pubs within walking distance from site that serve great food. Good facilities. Great site. Get what you pay for and Bath is expensive so really need to compare cost with that of Hotels which are through the roof.

For a pukka site Penn Hill is your best bet if you can get in. Its actually just across the road from the Marina site!
Near to both you can get a bus into town at the Newbridge park and ride - you pay for your ticket on the bus so you needn’t park your MH, just walk to the bus stop.
Also you can walk into town either along the main road or the river towpath.
If you take the main road about half way along you can get into Victoria park and from there you can walk all the way in through the park.
Quite a nice pub called the Boatman on the river right next to the park and ride too!

I think residents of ULEZ zones get a time-limited discount to allow them to replace their non-compliant vehicle....but eventually if they choose not to, they have to pay.

I agree with all of the above except for the "great site" comment.
In reality it is an expensive, badly maintained site with old and sometimes dirty facilities.
(We have stayed there 4 times as our son lives in Bath)
But the location (and Bath) is great.

Was there this weekend to watch the rugby .... stayed at Bath Marina 👍 Its not cheap (c. £30 a night including 16 A electricity) but the park and ride into Bath is literally over the road, and the Boathouse pub is ok and very close by so its worth it. Toilets and showers aren't the greatest but I tend to use the van.
Is there an emission zone in Bath.? if so, is the park&Ride outside it.? (Roger. Hubby).

If you stay in Bradford on Avon you can cycle all the way to Bath on the canal cycle path.

Yes there is - but all the sites mentioned in this thread are outside it and, as long as you take care with the route in and out, you can avoid the zone 👍

We live nearby. As said, the Marina site is the only option if you want to see the city. If you are over 3500kg’s you must avoid the LEZ as its £100 per day!!

Avoiding the LEZ is easy as long as you come into Bath from the west side. i.e. from Bristol direction.
I drove through Bath in August having just been to the Bristol balloon fiesta. I didn't know about the CAZ & honestly did not see any signs as we were concentrating more making sure we did not drive in the bus lanes. It was the A36 which I had driven along many times in the past. In September we went up to Nantwich followed by Stratford on Avon. We got home about 6th October & found a penalty notice for £129 for driving in the CAZ. £120 fine plus £9 per day charge. The £120 would be halved if paid within 14 days of notice which was 22nd September. When I investigated I didn't have a choice so begrudgingly paid the £69 & put it down to experience. Bristol is going to have one in November... So beware!!

We live 6 miles out and have to pay every time the Motorhome needs an MOT. The garage is in the CAZ, even though it’s also on a recognised HGV route!

I think it’s all about the money - otherwise it would be similar to the Critair scheme in France - on high pollution days, certain vehicles are not allowed in - for me that’s true regard for air quality.

I agree its very easy not to see the - very small - LEZ signs. Also, cars are not currently being charged, so the main traffic flow is into the zone, rather than seeing cars ahead diverting off to avoid it. Only vans and hgv’s Currently pay the fixed daily rate.
Locals can apply for an exemption for motorhomes under 3500kgs, which then classifies them as a car. (Non commercial).

We lived in Bath for over 20 years, until the end of 2021, and now live in Bristol. Although far from a major reason to move, the LEZ was a factor in the mix. Luckily we were just outside the zone but had to divert to Bristol or 20 miles south if we wanted to get on the M4 east. Not sure how that helps the environment....?🤔

Problem is, there are only two ways of changing peoples behaviour. Explain the problem and solution and hope that persuades people to change what they do, or the authorities step in and gradually raise the price of the cause of the problem.
The price-hike approach almost always works ...eventually. Electric cars, working from home, cycling, insulating houses, solar panels etc are suddenly all the rage because the price of fuel/energy has gone up. It might not be perceived as fair, but it works...

We are over 3.5 tonnes - 2022 Euro 6 - and according to government website there is no charge for us in any of the UK LEZ/CAZ zones.

Been all over carpark with a fine tooth comb and no signs saying no overnight stops and no gates on carpark
Maybe they've changed the signage since this on google maps street view?

Perhaps ‘Euro 6’ is the solution then?
