I'm a newbie
I've been writing here about my saga with Marquis. I bought a new motorhome from them on 14th August, paid in full the following week with the promise I could collect it three days later which they then cancelled - and I'm still waiting.

Every week they come up with they come up with a slightly different excuse and I've had enough. I am now getting a refund and hope never to deal with Marquis again.

I would seriously suggest that you don't go anywhere near them and to advise everyone else to do the same. They are utterly useless.

After this debacle I for one will not be going anywhere near Marquis when I buy my next MH.

I hope you get sorted soon and find the van of your dreams and can get on the road and enjoy it, please don't let this put you off.
Funnily enough we were going to head into Tewkesbury C&MC and walk across the Marquis on our way back up from Cornwall / Devon to have a look see but now heading to a CL in Cheshire instead!

They chased me for a while trying to sell me a Mobilvetta Technoline but I found out it is just a Kea in Britain, the salesman eventually admitted this and I told him I was no longer interested. They have also messed my mate about over him trading in against a van that they said they had in stock but didn’t. Waste of space comes to mind.

May I recommend you add a 'review' here
And see if Jim can replace the present 3 out of 5 stars with a one star award.

After reading you long ongoing issues, really we should all ensure we do our best to get the current management changed or the company closed down.
Other than lying, over and over again, they may be guilty of fraud or theft.

I can only presume they will be going bust in the near future and are obviously currently having major cash flow problems.

Ensure on Monday you walk out of there with either money proven to be in the bank, or you simply take your motorhome away on a flatbed lorry.
Ensure you are geared up to deal with either eventuality and have the flatbed lorry driver number in your phone.

It may have been said before, but have a chat with Nick Whale near Evesham, he has a cracking reputation as a dealer and deals in Auto-Sleepers.

hope the funds clear back into your account very soon…

Nick Whale also demanded money upfront when I bought from them. Three days before, if I recall.

Here's a link to my TrustPilot review. I kept it brief and summarised the situation to make it more likely that people would read it.

Just signed into Trust Pilot so that I can click on the useful box of your review. If lots and lots of Funsters click the useful box Marquis might realise that appalling customer service and lies have consequences for their already bad reputation.

Marquis stipulate that they need the money to be cleared three days before collection. That sounded pretty standard at the time but given that they then backed out, it's not something I will be fooled by again in the future.
BS, bank transfers are instant and at the most may take two hours. Under the faster payment system banks now use a transfer can not be recalled.
They say they will do that but I need to give certain forms of ID, so I'm going over first thing Monday morning to get that sorted.
More BS all they have to do is refund it back to the account it was paid from I would have demanded it was paid back while you were on the phone.

In my experience Trust Pilot is heavily closed down and moderated. Don't be surprised if your review is removed at the request of the trader.

In essence, it is funded by the businesses that subscribe to its services.

I don't give much credence to the reviews on there.

Lots of news articles about it. Wikipedia also gives quite a decent summary of the various criticisms of the website and it's shortcomings.

Well, OK, but there are already multiple one star reviews for Marquis going back a long time so maybe it will stay there with them.

It’s still annoying that you cannot give no stars on reviews!!

Best one is Checkatrade, twice I tried giving bad reviews for firms that never turned up for work agreed to only to be told you cannot leave a review unless they did work for you!!

I still fear the worst and you’ll be standing around on Monday, take a picnic and a flask of coffee… I personally wouldn’t move out of their office until it’s in the bank…

Good luck I hope it works out…

When you’ve got the money back come on here and tell us what you’d like and we as a collective will sort you out a motorhome…🙂

SIX weeks!!!?

God, I wish our wait was only six weeks.

Ordered ours at the 2018 NEC in October (had to be built to order, as it was the exact spec that we wanted and no one else did anything even similar)
Received in September 2019.
The dealer lent us one of their hire motorhomes gratis for our long-booked 3 week trip to Italy.

6 weeks is virtually next day delivery.

This is a very different matter, we all have to wait for new orders made to our specification. The OP has been waiting 6+ weeks since paying in full for an existing vehicle that was supposedly ready for handover a few days later.

Checkatrade is not to be trusted, when I was working our firm was on there, after a cockup lead to a bad review we were asked to flood the site with good reviews, so we asked every customer to complete a review, it was rare to get a bad review as we did try hard and the bad review was due to a mistake and fully deserved. Within 2 weeks the bad review was on page 3 and hard to find. We eventually cancelled Checkatrade as the site owners started advertising there own services on our pages.

Who on earth would deal with this Marquis bunch after reading this saga. That’s 65000 customers up the Swanee.
Funster power !

Probably no one here but we are a very small percentage of their customers , caravans as well remember .

The way the OP is being messed around AGAIN for his refund makes me suspicious.

Does Marquis need to keep the money in its bank account until 30 September for some reason relating to end-of-month or end-of-quarter accounting purposes?

Or are they delaying putting the cancelled Order through their books for a similar reason? Does this involve sales targets and manufacturer's quotas under a distribution contract?

I am cynical about the real motive behind this refund delay and its timing.

We rejected our first van through marquis, and in fairness it was the salesman who advised us to reject it.
If the process is still the same the branch will not refund it, it will be passed back to head office so it will take a couple of days, ours came through OK after 2 or 3 days.

Money transfers are pretty much instantaneous.
We transferred money to our German dealer for our last van and it went through straight away.
There are no excuses and they are just stringing you along.

I really can’t understand why anyone would deal with Marquis, their reputation is awful and that goes with the manufacturers too.

I'm not sure precisely but I remember Timberland (another 1* company!) asked me for final payment upfront. I think it was the morning of collection or maybe the day before. They said it was so they could get it registered to me. Ironic that they also cocked that up and it took another 4 weeks to appear on the DVLA. I drove it around blissfully unaware.

On Monday, Arrive as they open.

Find a comfortable place in reception, bring a thick book and settle in for the day.
Bring lunch and snacks and a flask of tea.
(As well as the documentation)

Give them a deadline of say 15h00 for the flatbed to arrive unless they can get the money to you earlier.

You do not leave until either the money has cleared into your bank (which if they do it at 15.30 will not be until Tuesday, so guess where you are spending the night!)

In order to keep yourself occupied, ensure you talk to every single prospective customer that enters the premises and tell them how bad the company is.
Unfortunately on a Monday, it's not going to be many.

Bad news travels fast. Years to build a good reputation, weeks to lose it.
