Hi
We are booked on the early ferry 13th Feb
I have seen posts somewhere about staying in the ferry queue overnight ready to board

Is this a thing still
Cheers

We use the Newhaven to dieppe ferry as it’s so easy. We find parking up at the terminal has to much noise for us, so we tend to park up at the far end of the promenade in Seaford which is only 10 mins along the road.

That’s interesting.

Being right in front of the gate, mid-April on a Saturday evening we didn’t hear a sound 🤷‍♂️

We live down the road in Lewes so never had to stop overnight and tend to get the earlier ferry. However, we are planning to cross over in May and take the 5’ish ferry and then stay in the Dieppe Aire before travelling on the next day, never done that though.
We did that once, went straight to the Aires by the cliff, there was a place which I assume has just been vacated by a ferry traveller. Spent a quiet night there, and the next day happened to be a market day, so spent a morning in what turned out to be a great market, which provided us with breakfast and lunch, with the afternoon on the road. A great start to a holiday!

I always stay at the Beachy Head pub, about 20 minutes from Newhaven, huge carpark - big enough to turn our motorhome and car trailer, happy enough for motorhomes to overnight for free if using the pub and open field walks for the dogs before driving to the ferry.

I would move up to the ferry entrance from the car park as soon as the gates close for the previous ferry ensuring first on and therefore first off.
That’s in correct.you are then directed to a lane number line and as a rule it’s last on 1st off . As 1st on go on upper deck and cannot get off until lower deck is cleared
Motor home go on last so 1st off

We always use this route and we have always stayed the night before at the Newhaven end, parking adjacent to the port entrance. I have just booked our next return trip, immediatly after taking our reg no and email address and everything was sorted out the booking clerk then advised me that we could park up at either terminal as soon as the ferry previous to the one booked has departed, I think she advised me of this because we are on the first ferry both ways. Oh, I see alasdairandannie beat me to it!

On the 11am crossing Monday 20th. I'm planning on getting parked in the queue on Sunday night. A leisurely potter down from Nth Manchester on the Sunday, no rush, all day to get there. Then one of the aire's in Dieppe on Monday night.

Isn’t sitting in the queues at the port watching the loading part of the fun wondering at the logic. There just doesn’t seem to be any at all. Obviously there must be of course. Perhaps it’s because we’re a PVC but sometimes we’re with the big vans, sometimes the smaller motorhomes and PVCs but sometimes we just get loaded with cars.
