Rally St Georges Day Bash. Newark FULL CLOSED

Where did everybody go?

IMG_20220425_122648667.jpg

Thank you to the organisers and Marshall's.

Spent longer than expected at the antique fair and more cash than I hoped 😁

Thanks for all the comments, it was a great rally. So many people had a hand in the success. All those who helped with food, marshalling music and cleaning; we thank you. You were brilliant :clap2:

Special mention to Lee Fryer, he rarely gets a mention on the thank-you threads, but what a grafter. From parking people up on arrival day to getting stuck in with the cleaning at 6:30 this morning, thanks Lee, we all appreciate it (y)

The money raised at the bacon roll breakfast, along with some money handed to me directly, was rounded up to £250 and paid to the Registered charity Myaware a few moments ago. Thank you all I hope you enjoyed the breakfast.

A good rally and good to meet up with some of my old Funster friends, particularly Mike Makems. The 4 of us met in Morocco a few years ago and on a whim drove all the way down to Dakhla, what an adventure that was. It also gave me the opportunity to give the motorhome a thorough test out before we head off to Greece. Yesterday, I spent much of the day in the Aircraft Museum just down the road and had the great fortune to not only get inside the Avro Vulcan Bomber they have but my guide was the pilot who used to fly this baby. We had a great conversation talking about the Vulcan and what it was like back then. To my surprise, it looks like the inside is almost complete too.

Next week is the "Cold war call up" on saturday and Sunday. Most cockpits that are available will be open - we are running the F-4 Phantom cockpit parked outside a hangar with all the other nose sections.... Welcome to see any motorhome funsters if you live locally. I seem to be catering for the Phantom crowd as well.........

Big thanks to all involved, a great weekend with friendly people 👍

Back home now after a 12 night trip including the Chester rally. Thanks so much to all the organisers and helpers, including Lee Fryer ;).
Had a great time and can't wait for the next!
See some of you at Stratford next week.

Thanks Jim & Sian & everyone else who volunteered to make this a great rally, your hard work is really appreciated.

Thank you for a great weekend. Loved the live music, bacon and sausage butties, meeting new friends etc etc etc. Well organised as always. A great venue and fingers crossed for a repeat next year😁

Thanks to Jim, Sian, Katie and all the helpers for a brilliant weekend, nice sausage party etc well done, now safely ensconced in the pub at Woodhall Spa, lovely to see everybody(y)

We are just home. No issues except the proliferation of temporary traffic lights causing chaos.

Really enjoyed the weekend despite the awful room acoustics creating lots of challenges. All the musicians were great.

As said elsewhere, there were many people who just made things happen. There are always those overlooked, but Lee Fryer is one of the newer members of the marshalling team and should not be overlooked. Thanks for your understanding when one of the marshals spend all day Friday setting up a few bits of equipment, leaving Lee Fryer , toledo and Jim and Sian to take the weight of parking people up.

Let's do it again Jim.

Great weekend.. Thank you Jim

t was somewhat marred by some pathetic low life who stole Dillon's jar of treats..
We had them out to give Dillon and Scruffy ( Richard and Gays pup ) a couple of treats for various little things they did
Left the jar beside the step and some P O S nicked them
Who ever it was, if your that hard up I will send you a bag of doggy treats. no problem

On behalf the B-Bopalulas - thank you to everybody for the great reception. Hopefully we weren't TOO loud!
I thoroughly enjoyed saying hello to old friends I haven't see for far too long since selling the motorhome when Gwen could no longer drive long distances. She must be sadly missed because everybody I met asked after her! (not so interested in me, sniff).
In no particular order: Ambilkate Amanda, Bill and Kate, Jim & Sian, toledo Dave & Polly, SUGGY & Rosie (sorry Graeme if I didn't recognise your new racing snake figure at first), Jaws, Scotties Gay & Richard, PhilandMena (beard suits you mate), canopus Ken & Linda, Terry, beerdrinker1 Ken, martin1485 Martin & Shirley, @Evansabove Rodd & Leslie, dabhand Simon & Marg, tonka Steve & irene, cliffanger Cliff & Geraldine,
It was wonderful just to see so many familiar faces again and apologies if l have missed somebody.
Special thanks to @menaders Robin for his help getting the B-Bopalulas set up.

It’s unbelievable why someone would even think they have the right to remove anything from someone’s area. If they were left out overnight, could it have been the local wildlife, maybe a fox!!

Home now, van emptied and washing on.

What a weekend! We can only add to all the ‘thank you’s’ already given, to people without which no meet is possible, let alone a runaway success like this one was!

It was lovely to see makems Mike, and his band were brilliant.

Thoroughly enjoyed last night - meanders Robin, you can add another skill to your CV -herding cats! How you kept your cool, I shall never know!

I’ll just finish with a classic quote from Ambilkate Amanda. While we were dancing, she tore me off a strip when I was singing ‘Girls just wanna have fun’. ‘No it’s not Girls - it’s Funsters wanna have fun’ - says it all really.....

It was not over night !
We left them by the step about 11am, went to get them after our afternoon dog walk and they were gone
Round the side where we was parked the only footfall was Funsters.. To say we were both shocked and amazed it had happened is an understatement!

Just to add our thanks to Jim Sian Katie and all the Marshalls who work all weekend so we can enjoy ourselves it really is appreciated.
Also a big thank you to meanders and all the musicians who gave their time and lots of pleasure over the weekend.
I have to add thank you to eddievanbitz and Lyn who worked beside
Jim and Sian .
It's so nice to get back to normal.
Carol and Eddie.

Thanks Jim, Sian and all the helpers it was a fantastic meet and to return to Newark showground after the original 1st meet on Jim’s 50th birthday was lovely, sadly some those original Funsters are no longer with us but would like to bet they were watching and had a great time and we’re dancing to Hey hey baby up there.
Again many thanks to everyone for making it extra special after the long wait after covid and roll on the next one xx

It's all already been said, however, Rita and I would just like to add our thanks and gratitude to Jim & Sian for organising and setting up the whole event. Eat your heart out Warners. ;)
I hope that when the Showground management saw how clean and tidy we left the hall, that it will encourage them to welcome us back with pleasure. (y)

Looking forward to reading of next year's planned dates for the same. ;)

Thanks again all involved. (y)

Cheers,

Jock & Rita. :)

Just to echo everybody else’s previous comments, we had a cracking weekend. Thank you to everyone who worked their socks off for our benefit.
We were blessed with some reasonable weather and sitting outside supping and yawping was a very welcome return to near normality.

Once again thanks to everyone involved. BEEBOPALOOLA 👍

Back in bonny Scotland in the sun. It's all been said, but thankyou to all who played a part in such a brilliant weekend. Hopefully there will be many more.
