Sprinter Build. Very Nice Spec.

Was just an easier way to do it when there are 12 lines going around the outside. The laser is on a tripod, so once set, the level line doesn't move.

I could have measured from the floor, but having the laser made it really easy to get each panel spot on before fixing (y)

Yeah, until someone says "I want circles"
i was more thinking the laser gives you level but the van isnt ?

I see what you mean.

I measured from the floor initially to get marks on the corners of the van. Then, with the laser on a tripod in the van, once set to those marks, it moves with the van. It's like a line drawn on the wall that transfers to the panel in front (y)

but the levels tripod is on the van floor so will be level to that wont it? so no problem

i dont think thats correct the laser will define level but the van will not be .it doesnt level to where its standing

i understand now your locking the laser to give a straight line not letting it self level

so the laser levels itself no matter what the surface? sort of "floating" brill (y)

I'll admit this wasn't easy:

The fridge freezer is a Cookology UCFF87 and it uses around 460w per 24 hours = around 35Ah + the inverter overhead = around 38Ah.

So about 1.6Ah per hour, which is good compared to a lot of 12v compressor fridges (y)

jesus, my 3 way on inverter averages about 6-7ah ( i think) per hour over a 24 hour period, (average on and off)

thanks

The chair this time. There will be a table.

This attaches to a pull out unit behind the chair:

It's scribed to follow the van wall:

It has a ton of storage:

And fits, thankfully :giggle:

Kitchen is getting there now.

To give me an idea what the customer wanted, he built a mock shelf unit in the existing van. He wanted something like this:

with the mirror higher up and maybe a cupboard behind it.

This is what I came up with:

I've backlit the mirror, plus under lights of course. Still needs a bit of work, but customer likes it which is all that matters (y)

I kind of forgot to update this thread with a few things going on in my personal life. I figured I should show the finished van, so here it is.

From the outside it looks fairly normal, apart from the extended roof rack that we built.

It's so big as it houses 900w of solar and a roof deck. All flush mounted. But it's the interior that matters.
Firstly a proper bathroom with instant hot water (125l fresh tank) and a toilet that's covered so the shower doesn't soak it:

The entrance:

The walkway is angled and that's a bin on the back of the chair, with a tray above to chuck pocket stuff.

Everything in this van is bespoke. The tops are made from imported Poplar planks, the doors and walls are made from Poplar lightweight plywood, routered to look like T&G.

But you have to think of the poor people walking past. They don't want to stare at a load of crap in a boot, do they?

Anyway, that's the Sprinter. It has more tech than any van I've ever seen and it's a lovely space to be in. It's been a privilege to build for a fulltimer. It's a true home.

The lighting is amazing and can simulate daylight (SAD rated), it has 460Ah of LiFePO4 and the charging to back it up (off grid at least 10 months of the year, despite running 19 populated 240v sockets - so far the battery has been at 100% by 9am). The drawers all lock automatically when the vehicle is started (electromagnets), the insulation kept up with the 40 degree days we've had, loads that I've forgotten to mention.

All that really matters is the customer says it's better than they ever imagined and it brings them joy. Job done.

I'm well into the next build at this moment, which I'll start a thread on soon.

I know nothing about building an interior but wow what fantastic work, and full of admiration for your skill and attention to detail. If I ever win the lottery I know where to come to get my dream Motorhome built.
