Spring Gothic meet

We were going to get a taxi but somone talked us into walking back i think a short cut was mentioned :Rofl1: was a good do though Gray.

SNAP, Mitch!!! Dingray talked me into it and I must have driven him mad with 'are we there yet' 'are we nearly there' are we there yet .. ad infinitum ..... and they mustn'e have corners in Scotland as he kept saying next corner, ....... ONE HOUR LATER and a complete uphill walk in my biker boots we arrived .......:Eek!: He was really kind though and looked after me and my little dog. Thanks Ray .... :thumb: Joy

Is it fancy dress as before, Cheyne?

Sorry to be a pain, but if I have to pay for mum to go in respite for a week, I will probably after travelling so far like to stay a couple of nights over somewhere near there.

I noticed on travelling over the moors quite a few little pull in places .... wide open spaces on top of the world ..... is it safe to stay in these out of the way places please? Has anyone else done it? (On their own).

Hi Joy

You might be better in Pickering somewhere. The car park on the moors your are probaby thinking of is above the Hole of Horcum, not far from the Saltersgate Inn (now boarded up) and the early warning station at Fylingdales. Used to be know as the Golf Balls

.

Not sure what it's like of an evening for a lady on her own. Possibly there may be other vans from the troupe thinking along the same lines. It is a longish layby.

Well folks, we had such a brilliant time at the November Gothic meet that Weekenders organised, that some wanted to go back again.
So we have arranged with Whitby School to use their school yard, all hard standing and also we have the use of their dining room for the duration of the weekend.
There is the usual water supply and dump facilities but no ehu.
Gennies can be used with the usual consideration for your neighbours.
Was thinking, saturday for lunch a Jacobs Table type affair and then get ready for Whitby for the evening.

Your marshals for this weekend will be myself and lalllymc

The cost is £7 per unit per night.
Post code for the school is: YO21 3EG.

Limited to 30 units..

Look forward to seeing you there.

West Cliff Primary School,
not Whitby School, since there is more than one school in Whitby:Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:

:thumb:Canopus, thank you for that fantastic link of photos. I hope Ken and Steph see it when they log on. Looks like their kind of walk. Many thanks. Joy

Hi Joy

Im sure Ken & Steph will know about the Hole of Horcum as they live not that far from there, as the crow flies.

.

Just north/west over the moors towards Roseberry Topping is where they reside.

Enjoy

Lynd & Ken

Hi Joy you can find loads of places to wild camp without problem-At the top of blue bank prob where you mention you can turn off to the right (leaving Whitby)towards Grosmont and Gothland both have suitable WC spots about half mile off the main rd after you turn off

Hi there, yes we know the Hole of Horcum intimately. We stayed at a CL there at the end of Feb with Alan and Lynda (Laneside) and we did the walks in the area.
I did not do a blog on that trip as we often had no t'internet.
We stayed at CL's at Whitby, Hole of Horcum and Kirk Ireton.
We taught Alan and Lynda what proper fish n chips tasted like also crab sarnies. :thumb:

Here are a couple of piccies for you.

You been winning the lottttttry or summat?
New van, busy & not available in April, are you going on a cruise

Or is the thought of Jess nicking Tillly's tennis balls?

Maybe it was that bloody long walk (scenic route) back to Broadings that's put you off Martin:Rofl1:

The April venue (school) is not too far from the whale jaw bones.

Well whatever you're doing instead enjoy!!:thumb:

Hello Cheyne,

Much as we like Whitby we've realised that new van means a need to buy new bits so we need to go to Peterborough Show, which clashes with the Goth Meet. Could you remove us from the list please.
