Hi all its going to be our first trip to Spain in April and we were planning to use the Long Road South route. We have now realised our 2009 Broadway is too old for a crit aire sticker and so we are going to have avoid the ulez zones eg. Rouen, Bordeax etc, man plans, God laughs!!! I guess that we are not going to be the only ones in this pickle and wondered if any of you old hands suggestions for alternative routes.

Thanks for that Lesw,
I have tried many times, on the French site, I must be missing something,it repeatedly states that a certificate is not available for this (1985), age of vehicle.
I would love to see your crit air certificate for a 1986 vehicle.
So would I !!!!! Are you sure you were on the right site??

There's not much to see on the certificate, just my (personalized) reg. no. and the category '3'.. I didn't do anything special, just applied the normal way, as I did with our moho..

It must have been a scam!!!

I have asked before but got no answers, but does anyone know how a local authority announces when, and for what Crit Aire categories, the zone restrictions come into force?

Are there roadside signs, is there a website or what?

Frankie, I am posting my own post in the hope that you can answer my question, please.

I should add a bit more info which may explain..

My car is a kit, built by me in 1998 (see avatar), but using the parts from a 1986 Ford Sierra, so the car is 'registered' as a 38 year old car with a number plate beginning with 'C' the same as the donor car (since changed).

It is MOTed as a 1986 car, but perhaps the French went by the year of 'first registered in 1998'.

So let's see it then- it might help someone who cannot get a certificate!!!

I believe the French office has gone by 'first registered' and not when it was built (as Ford Sierra), which seems odd, Imagine buying a car fifty years ago and getting it registered today, in the UK it would still be a fifty year old car, not a modern one.

Right , I don't go out a lot as I live on the stadium. So I don't really know .
Your satnav is supposed to say it or as I have seen when planning a trip "Plans et Itinéraires Viamichelin" says it when you plan a trip
I just found this:
Click on "Accéder à L'outil de recherche"
Let me know if it's good. I go to bed... Got a serious health problem, been to SOS médecins this afternoon. So sorry if I disconnect. I need rest.

I decided to try and cover my options and have applied for the certificate. I've had acknowledgement of the application so we'll see what happens. I've looked at the Green Routes map and other bits and apart from Rouen and Bordeaux, it's still as clear as mud to me ( my age!) Thank you to everyone, it makes me feel a bit better to find I'm not the only one who is confused😄.

If you gave them your email address, they should email you in a couple of days with a receipt that acts as a temporary permit. Our actual certificate arrived in the post about 10 days from application.

Update on our application. We've got a 3 sticker, thought we would be a 5 or not eligible. I feel this is good news but I'm not at all sure why! 🤣😂
