Soooo ... Galicia it is again 👍😊

Would have been best avoided....it wasn't fun...however today's clifftop bike ride was....

And photos from aforementioned ride.

For us, it's been a perfect day. 22/23° sunny, with a light breeze. We rode a route that I could do (although I DID walk down (and up) a few loose, stony tracks). Just being careful, of course 😊. It's a long distance coastal walking route

The scenery became more and more beautiful, until we looked upon the Aluminium Works of San Cibrao. Their sea defences were interesting to see, and Martin was fascinated, and saddened, by the number of fish the gulls were feasting on near the fish farms.

We are, illegally 🤔🙄🤣 spending a second night here and, reluctantly moving on tomorrow.

Yesterday we stayed at a mixed parking area with a chiringuito just below. Being Sunday it was so busy, so we ate our own food. We had a misty start to the day. It was/is still a local fiesta and the fishing boat flotilla set off at 10.00 am to the sound of their hooters and sirens. We went to the top of the nearest hill, with its ruined lookout and warning fire pit.

After lunch we braved the beach with our chairs and brolly. Our brolly was the only one to take off alone, so after a quick swim for Martin, and a paddle for me, we left. Not bad 2.40 until 3.32 a record for us 😂.

We had a mediocre sunset and a bit of a disturbed night from the fiesta music some few km away.

We failed to stock up on supplies this morning because all the shops in the one town we drove through on our 13km drive were closed due to the fiesta. We're OK for food but now down to the last can of San Miguel.

We are, though, parked on a free serviced parking area behind a restaurant. So we'll not go thirsty.

We had an easy graded ride today. Not much different to the other rides we've done, but again with lovely coastal scenery.

The beach here, about 2 minutes walk, is as nice as the last few beaches we've parked near.

Between Foz and Ferrol.

There's a boardwalk to the beach 👍 but then a lot of sand 😂

I'd reserved two places to do the Fuciño do Porco route.

Walking from here to the Porco route we missed the checking in point in the carpark. I hope we don't get a snotty "no show" message later 🤣🤣We walked out on the walk/drive in, and were dismayed by how many people were trying to park to avoid a €2 fee (for the beach parking that they thought was the walk parking. A sign was displayed, but it was in Spanish 🤔🙄🤭🤣. We could understand it 🤣). The walk and parking is free, but motorhomes not allowed due to the newly gravelled track through the forest to it being narrow.

Anyway. We had a nice walk. A bit (a lot) up at the beginning but worth doing to make a decent walk. The actual Porco bit (one way) is just over a km and there were many young kids puffing and collapsing on the seats at the end 🤔. I dread to think what they were like after the return.

The last bit of our walk was the same as the first bit, back to our beach and calling in at the cross overlooking our beach, from where we could look down to the surfing school having a first? lesson.

On our route back we passed some very swish new houses being build in the hillside. I was more interested in this one. I'd love to know its history, especially having its own coat of arms.

I couldn't get this part in the first shot.

We left this morning in dire need of purchasing supplies. I managed to get most of our much needed. Milk, bread and beers were high on the list.

We then drove to a place we love because of its spectacular views. No official spot, but no forbidden signs also. We're near a chiringuito. We've had a stroll, and bought some cooked mussels from the locals, which we teamed with a barra and a bottle of chilled white wine.

Later this evening Martin is going to head down the zigzag path to the beach to try fishing and I'm going to see if I can find any sea glass.

A lovely spot.

Yesterday we moved to the village of Cariño. It has a municipal camperstop with facilities.

The weather here is suiting us. We've left 30 to 45+ degrees of heat for something more suited to liveable temperatures. But ... the next few days are unsettled.

We had a short walk yesterday. Our way back through a hamlet, we were accosted by an old (well older than us) lady in one of the houses who invited in for lunch. We only just understood her Galego, so we thanked her but said no thanks. She had a lot of cats in her garden ...

A quiet night was enjoyed.

Today ... we're staying put in our parking for another night. After ....

.... we rode up to a high point and we were in thick fog and strong winds. We donned our fluorescent jackets to ride back down on the roads. Our spot in the hills will have to wait for us. Martin had planned a route via a particular app, but it didn't show the climb, the stony ground, the water washed gullies and then, when it levelled out, the gorse and brambles. We pushed for 1.1 km (yes I'm including the .1 cos it was awful) but we survived. The rest of the ride was very nice, discounting the conditions. The lighthouse was the aim, in a roundabout way.

We got back safely, that's all that matters.

Our intended parking was in the clouds. Maybe not now, but we've eaten and partaken of a glass or two.

So. We'll drive over tomorrow and, maybe stay, or maybe drop down the other side to find a laundry 🤣. One of us didn't bring enough "ropa interior" 🤔🤫

What a nice, but different in many ways, day we've had. We were still at Cariño.

We started with a stroll along the "prom" where, in the distance we could see people congregating. It was a bike/hike in support of cancer. We stayed to watch the start. Again a bit of Celtic influence with the pipes and drum. The weather was ... dull.

We then drove, up and over, through thick fog where we rode yesterday and out through it. We arrived at our favourite wild parking in this area. We parked up and I managed to stay on my feet long enough to take some photos down to the village of Santo André de Teixido (not suitable for motorhomes, we cycled there two years ago and even that was dangerous)! The van was being buffeted so, reluctantly, we drove down to our present spot at Cedeira. A lovely, more touristy spot than other places we've visited lately and in full sun! And it's a Spanish Sunday 💕💕

Two years ago, after chatting, on a ride, to a mountain biking doctor from Cartagena who has a family house here 😂 we'd parked up and went to do our laundry.

Surprise, surprise, we did the laundry again. Dumped it in a machine and went for a beer and tapas. Very civilised, and the walk there and back was very nice as well. Martin carried the washing. I have bad wrist don't'cha know 🤣🤣🤣

Our overnight parking may get a 👎cos many reviewers don't like the noise from the cobbled road. We're still giving it a go and will report back.

I'm going out again later with my camera whilst Martin watches a certain Ladies football match 🤔😀. Good luck to them, even though I'm not interested in the game.

Hope you have better luck with that launderette than we did - despite the drier being set on warm, a few things got shrunk and ruined! :(

Our stuff came out of the drier OK, but the washing machine half ate one of Martin's, very old to be honest, tops.

We emptied a 14 kilo machine to use it. We took out two full buckets of items. They took some pulling to get them out as well!!! No way would they have been washed. No room for any water.

Our small load was lost in the bottom of the machine 🤣🤣 but our van smells wonderful atm.

Stunning. Thank you for the great photographs and detail of your adventures.

Right, our last problem being sorted (aircon re-gassing) tomorrow we hope, and then we will be, ahem, "right behind you"
Leaving Cuesta Blanca on Wednesday with a big 600km day on Thursday to get us near the coast.
We will bump into you unless you stop posting on here !! If you see a Hymer with 2 whippets and and a little Heinz it'll be us.

It would be mich simpler to meet up closer to home. BUT, we'll look out for you up here as well.

Safe travels.

Last night wasn't as noisy (for us) as expected. The road was cobbled away from the parking, and many reviewers on P4N couldn't cope with the noise of vehicles driving along it. We were willing to give it a go and it was OK.

Before sleeping though, we walked through the working port and climbed up to the (closed) Castle. There was a nice archaeological site to look at though.

This morning we left the coast and we are now at a newly opened parking area at a small nondescript village San Saduriño, just off the main road into Ferrol. The parking is in a grassy/mint field (smells lovely) and the newly constructed service point is double barrelled 🤣.

Unfortunately one of the plastic drain covers has already been broken!

There's a nice river stroll nearby, through an arboretum with wooden figures and a lovely kids play area. There is also a nice restaurant which does a pretty good MDD. We visited the Church before we had lunch.

We had a lovely ride today. Only one photo because it wasn't a photogenic area, just lovely tracks in rolling, green farmland, with hay bales and the scent of silage all around.

Oh I did take another photo locally growing Kiwi's 😊.

We're now back at the coast for a sea breeze. A big parking area overlooking the beach at Naron, which is almost entirely taken over by campervans and motorhomes, most of the people here are surfers. It appears to be acceptable to park here, the Police Local and Guardia Civil have both done an afternoon drive past and didn't even say anything to people "camping". The views from here are lovely. And there are even people in the water! It's the furthest parking from the beach so car drivers want to be closer. I assume that's why this place is acceptable to park motorhomes.

We're parked between two camper vans! A Dutch surfer on one side and a young German couple, with whom Martin has already spoken football 😂 on the other side.

There are many different nationalities here, but we haven't yet noticed any Brits.

You seem to be heading west, I'm not sure how far you are planning to go but this is an area we've visited a few times and love.

Our most adventurous journey was probably to the Cimiterio Los Ingleses. There is a small parking area which you should be able to squeeze on.

Looking forward to reading more. :)

Lovely photos, thank you. it's easily the prettiest part of Spain, you do have to "manage" the weather, but soooo worth it.

Yes, the weather is a problem. We could be having some cloud/rain again in the next few days around here.

We could drive south for an hour and be back in 35° temperatures.

We don't have a plan, except just trying to keep to temperatures of low to mid 20's. We don't mind cloud except that gives us a problem charging the bike batteries.
