Solo RH Drive traveller to Europe

Solo traveller , first trip with tag , Fulli
Never had a problem getting out and paying manually previously but the tag is just so much easier
As someone said French barriers are on the slow side
Italian very quick . Spanish, yet to find a toll road

Not available for larger MH
You might be pushing it a bit with an Arapaho but your height is under 3m 😊
we have a Hymer B678DL at 7.5m towing a twin axle car trailer and only ever get charged class 2👍😊

How do you cope with paying tolls when sat at the other side
My husband has to get out as I’m disabled and can’t reach the ticket machine. Am going to look at the windscreen sticker thing.

If it is busy there I definitely feel a bit of pressure (partly because the rest of the time the toll roads are normally so relaxing to drive). Didn't get around to getting a tag (and have some doubt about corrct lanes). So I put the hazards on, in park, handbrake on then open the habitation door. That helps reach the lorry slot where my ticket always appears and saves using my driving slip ons outside. Then it's slam the door, back to the driving seat, belt on,hazards off. It does take a little time; I sometimes have staff coming towads me at a busy station.
I can see why someone put the ticket in the wrong slot, as the french ones use the same slot for both. A flashing led is usally your guide to the correct slot, so agreed don't rush and you'll be fine.
As for using non tolls the alternatives vary greatly by region - I like to mix and match.

I separate this as it is somewhat off topic. I think the hardest thing about solo van driving is pulling out of acute pull outs. On occasion I can see neither in the mirrors nor out of the rear side window (will depend on layout). Rare but it does happen (to me). My work around is to deliberately square off the turn so I get visibilty.

Great bit of observation
The other.thing to remember is most vans now have electric mirrors that can be adjusted to give better visibility and then returned for normal driving

A facility that many do not consider

I used an emovis tag for the first time this year. What a joy compared with reaching over to the passenger side and then being out of reach and then having to walk round, or being too high for the slot designed for cars but too low for slots designed for high lorries! I found myself looking forward to the next toll station just to experience passing the queues and driving through at 30kph. I'm over it now ;-)

I have just changed from Emovis to Tollbird, its cheaper and just the one transponder for France,Spain,Portugal,Italy and soon Croatia.

Sounds perfect you have answered my question Europe here we come didn’t want a barrier whacking me on the head
Don't forget the UK is still part of Europe. I know you mean the EU, which is a very different thing, one is a geografical designation and the other a political one.

I'm not being dismissive but I'm honestly surprised at the question. I've been motorhoming solo for around 30 years getting out to pay without any problem and never given it a thought. There's absolutely no need to hurry as the barrier won't come back down until you have cleared the kiosk.

However.......

If you have never done it before then you don't know we all have to learn somewhere
