Solo RH Drive traveller to Europe

Even using a toll tag means sometimes having to almost touch the barrier to open it - sometimes it lifts as you enter....:unsure:

So you have the time to do this then ??
You take it! If they are not happy , they will honk and give you names... may be... and what? I am too small most of the time to reach the machine, and as of course I try to have the window as near as possible, I can't even open my door! Well guess what? I have to go back or try to get out on the other side of my car (LHD!)
You're not obliged to have a pass, just do as you feel the best for you, and do not worry for the others, believe me!

Used our Bip and Go tag for the first time in Aug/Sept this year. Should have bought one years ago. Worked every time and I even got brave enough to go through the 30km gate:cool: Can't recommend them enough.

Mr Gina M seems to think we would have a problem getting one as the van is four and half ton and 3 metres high:unsure:

Emovis don’t ask for any dimensions as the tag is not specific to one vehicle and the tolls measure height only 😊

Ask him how 44 ton and 4m high get one. Mr Gina may need a woman to explain it  ::bigsmile:

From the tip and go site FAQ

"I drive a vehicle that is heavier than 3.5 metric tons and/or taller than 3m. Can I use Bip&Go electronic toll payment? Bip&Go only offers electronic toll payment badges for light vehicles. For lorries, buses and category 3 or 4 campervans, you will need an electronic toll payment badge for heavy vehicles".

We have a fulli tag and it's brilliant we used to have all sorts of problems when we needed to use tolls, Swmbo arms to short, dropped card, rejected card etc now we sail through and if there's a 30 lane we don't even have stop at the barrier.

I reckon I could get out the hab door, walk round to the machine and back again quicker than my passenger could fumble around with it all.
yeah and give the nice people waiting behind you a cheery wave ;) "V"

Telepass the barriers up before you get to it apart from France 🇫🇷 :giggle:

Going though tolls in this is worse than any motorhome  but I managed south of France to Calais in one day. I lost count of the ins and outs required but I do remember it costing £150 or more!!!

Some people find any excuse to put up a piccy of their toys

TBH I didn’t see anything wrong with Spriddler post. I too have never had a problem getting out and walking around. Even with a passenger by the time I have avoided clouting the mirror on anything I am too far from the machine for the passenger to be able reach the machine.
Guess next time we are in Europe we will try a toll tag.

The slowest way to do tolls is as a group of bikers……that really does wind up following motorists when we have all fiddled with gloves, tickets and money.😁
If you try you can get 3 bikes abreast that saves time (and money ) Just saying HaHa

That's odd as I'm pretty sure the last time (shortly before pre-Covid lockdowns) that I was riding on an autoroute there was no charge at the péage for motorbikes............
or I must be thinking of somewhere else since you live there and would know.

Get a Ulys tag. Sticks to the windscreen. No standing charges if it is not being used.

As far as I know the free lanes on peages are few and far between. One bridge coming out of Le Havre and maybe one other has a motorcycle lane for free. Otherwise it’s pay.

When the MotoGP race is in France then the peage is free for motorbikes that weekend.

Interesting,

I use my Ulys tag on a motorbike, a car and a Class A and it always bills me correctly. (Automatically measured at the toll gate)

Comparing this with the Bip&Go option it seems that this one proves per day used, at 90 cents a day. Bip&Go charges per month used, at a rate of up to 2.50 per country per month.

Which one is better then presumably depends on one’s own usage patterns.

A there other advantages/disadvantages to the one over the other?

…charges per day used that should have said…
