So, what is the etiquette when it comes to a generator?

Really getting through the grammar stuff today. Hilarious - keep it up :)
Agreed, this silly grammar stuff has really made me giggle!

Hairdryer 1kw, bean to cup coffee machine 1.4kw, two ebike batteries on charge along with various laptop and phones plus will you just pop this in the microwave for me?

can all be done in series but sometimes nice to do in parallel 😀
I can't do that in parallel in our house.

'I know a man with a wooden leg called Smith'
'Oh, really? What's the name of his other leg?'

Nowt like a bit of unintentional 'double entendre' to give us some merriment!

Kenneth Williams, boasting to Spike Milligan about his mother's new radiogram [does this date me?]:
KW: Lovely furniture, and it's got a 16 inch console, you know ...
SM: 16 inches should be enough to console anybody ...:ROFLMAO::eek:

Of course, I never understood the punchline, but people seemed to find it funny ... Just an innocent abroad, I am ;)

As motocrossers we are used to hearing gennies running all day and some of them are big buggers too. Fortunately motocross rules state off by midnight. I still don’t really understand why they use them tho. I guess some people watch tv at night and they do use them for running pressure washers at the end of the meeting to clean their bikes. We have never bothered. Don’t watch telly and clean the bikes at home.
At international motocross meetings it’s a different matter, massive gennies running enormous amplifiers to play terrible Dutch pop music ALL NIGHT. We put up with it and make do by drinking copious amounts of falling down water to compensate.
On a personal camping level, we rarely use hook up as the solar runs all that we need. We don’t watch tv and as for drying my hair....ponytail all the way. Aside from medical needs I think generators are a no no really.

So two hours mid day ruins your life? Before making judgement it may be saving theirs charging up a vital piece of medial equipment ask before condemning!
If someone needs a generator for a medical device perhhaps they should explain to the site warden so they they can be sited so as to cause the lest disturbance possible to others. I have very sympathy but if ever I were in that situation, God forbid, I might take a moment or realise it’s not all about me. And I might only ffp to a site with EHU as my friend used to when he had to have power for his device. He didn’t need a generator and he didn’t disturb anyone.

If somebody at our CL wanted to run a gennie, no problem as long as it is not disturbing anyone. Any disturbed party can always ask to borrow ours which is probably a lot louder.
With all the improved solar and battery technology the need for generators is disappearing.

it won't be long before it'll be replaced with a lithium power station. Brother in law has his beady eye on it after that. He's going to permanently fix it in his box trailer.
A power station generates electricity. All the so called lithium power stations I have seen do not (unless from a paltry little attached solar panel). All they do is store the electricity that is generated somewhere else like from solar panels, B2Bs or EHUs. OK for tenters for a night or two but not for motorhomes because they have their own batteries that do exactly the same. Much better to just get a decent LifePo battery or two.
