Slightly concerned - We are on evacuation notice in Malaga!

All quiet on the Western front…. Well so far at least! 🤞

Just after 06.00 here in Malaga and not one drop of rain… it’s got that feeling of rain, but nothing yet!

BTW, I appreciate all the support 🫶, the sanguine advice about moving which, in normal circumstances, I would have followed, but the key thing is getting Rene away this morning, the taxi turning up and transiting safely to the airport and the flight arriving and taking off, the granddaughters operation going well and Rene home to provide the ‘Nanny love’! 🤞

This is me red circle to the left of pic… this is the usual dried up huge river, right of picture… I’m guessing it can flow millions of gallons an hour, so it is probably safe; BUT!!! 🤷‍♂️

I think I would feel safer moving away from that area pronto👍

They may be over compensating, but better safe than sorry.
You would not believe the speed water can come up, we saw this on the Rhein a few years ago.

One minute we were having a glass of wine outside the van at 6pm in the evening (no rain).
We were told to move NOW!

Luckily we can pack down in a smooth operation, so awning in, chairs in the back and ready to roll inside 5 mins.
And we went to the car park of the local pub.

10 mins later our campsite was under a meter of water.

I think all the motorhomes got away as did many of the caravans, as they dragged all the easy ones out of the way

But quite a few caravans were wrecked as the owners were not in, and they simply did not have enough vehicles to tow, nor the time to remove awnings and deal with wheel clamps.

We've seen water do exactly the same. 10 minutes and 1 metre. We (and the other four families) lost our caravan (it's a long time ago) but got the camper off just in time. That was on a CL behind a pub at Torver crossroads. We spent a week in there afterwards.

An orderly relocation beats a mass stampede of panic stricken idiots....
Of course Valencia has caused the need to be very cautious, but 2024 has been an exceptional year for DANA phenomenons...
Over the past 10 days we have looked carefully where we park overnight, looking at watercourses, Ramblas and suchlike..

Yes, probably...but the 'BUT' is a load of debris getting dragged down and becoming stuck under that bridge...and within seconds there's a huge backup of water. If everyone waits 'to see' before moving to somewhere safer....the ensuing chaos could mean few people manage to get anywhere.

TBH I’m a mile away from being several hundred feet higher than I am right now, so I’m ready with my own plan too! 👍🏻
From where you posted you are I'd be off from there. Just because it isn't raining where you are doesn't mean a deluge from up in the mountains isn't going to suddenly appear. Having been caught up here at home before & seeing the 100m x 8m high rambla in to town running at full bore ,albeit safely dispensed with & diverted down all the smaller ramblas & acequias , it is a frightening timewhen you realise that what was a dry wide river bed has become a raging flood & it isn't even raining where you are . Stay safe & After the missus gets away safely I'd be sloping off somewhere higher for a while.

Back in the day, I was building a new bridge in a wadi in Fujirah UAE, the old one had been washed away years before. Heard the rumbles inland and a darkening sky so decided to stop work and move the compressors etc out of the wadii, we had to leave a RB22 Pile Driver in situ. After the deluge hit the site we found the 'RB' a km downstream, never misjudge the power of nature.

have a look at malaga tomorrow eve, high rains, lightening too

Knock at the Motorhome door an hour or so back, police (Guarda Civil) and site personnel asking us to pack everything and be ready to move if needed, either overnight or tomorrow.

The volume of rain expected is high here in the next 24-36 hours and I would imagine that they want to be extra safe (based on Valencia) and have everyone ready if they do want to move us…

Mrs Carpmart has a taxi booked for 08.30 tomorrow as she’s off back to the UK for two weeks… (alright for some!)

So we wait… or should that be, I wait! 🤣

Stay safe everyone!
We are just up the coast from you in Cabopino had some rain here from about 10 this morning but stopped now. Skies are dark but hopefully will clear soon. That alarm frightened the Hell out off us too 😂 hopefully like everyone says it just them been over cautious!! Belt down the hatches for 24 hours or so 🍷🍻 stay safe everyone

Our friends are at El Hornillo and this has literally started in last 15 mis. Windy but dry ....now this.

We used to live just a few miles away from where you are now and have seen the way those dry river beds go crazy when the rains hit.
The amount of rubbish and bits of trees that come down those river beds is quite scary at times.
If I was where you are I would be moving to higher ground immediately.
The rain has already started as one of our friends has just been in touch, she thinks it will get a lot heavier as the day goes on.

Oh thats not good new, where will you go to ? head inland ? upland ?

I was listening to the Radio driving from Javea to Benidorm last night

Some American was supposed to be in the studio for an interview. But he was stopped from driving from Valencia to Javea and had to be on air via telephone.
