Just a tad..
Knock at the Motorhome door an hour or so back, police (Guarda Civil) and site personnel asking us to pack everything and be ready to move if needed, either overnight or tomorrow.

The volume of rain expected is high here in the next 24-36 hours and I would imagine that they want to be extra safe (based on Valencia) and have everyone ready if they do want to move us…

Mrs Carpmart has a taxi booked for 08.30 tomorrow as she’s off back to the UK for two weeks… (alright for some!)

So we wait… or should that be, I wait! 🤣

Stay safe everyone!

Area Malaga Beach! It’s east of Malaga, nearer to Rincón than Malaga!

N332 Facebook group reporting it’s now a red alert in Malaga area… 😱

I’m just east of Huelva after driving down from Lisbon, should have stayed in Portugal maybe!?

We only left Portugal two days ago as the wife has a flight in the morning… in hindsight I should have swapped the flight to Faro…

🤞 it’s over caution in forecast and the weather due is a tad less extreme. My hope is the authorities are (rightly) applying a post Valencia level of caution to this kind of weather event! I hope that’s the case….

Take care all of you out there. If you know the area reasonably well you will know there is some good higher ground along after La Cala. Riviera del Sol. Calle Acario. At the top of there there are lot of places where you could hole up. Normally the patrols would move you on, but I cannot see anyone objecting under these circumstances.
FYI they are moving everyone off the ferria at La Cala. The Aldi just across the way is good and high. There is also a good road immediately behind that.
Stay safe.

The police have a plan and a car park they will evacuate us to if they feel the need…

TBH I’m a mile away from being several hundred feet higher than I am right now, so I’m ready with my own plan too! 👍🏻

Stay safe, hopefully Valencia has just made them ultra cautious

TBH, I think I might move there now & have a good night's sleep

I think also after Valencia they will be much sooner to evacuate people. I do however have a smidge of sympathy for the authorities evidently they evacuated a couple of years ago and the floods never happened they got a lot of stick for being too cautious. This time around it probably made them delay. People want a 100% accurate prediction it's still not possible.

Knowing the area where you are - just east along from the cement works, in the flood plain against the Rio Totalan, I'd be moving to higher ground now too. It may come to nothing, but I wouldn't sleep tonight otherwise anyway.

BTW - Once it's cleared through and you're safe, there are some fantastic fish restaurants nearby on the sea front headed west towards Málaga. 👍

Stay safe.

I think I'd agree head for the hills!

OK, I see where you are here.
If it was me, I'd move.

You are on the alluvial fan of the river.
It will be a raging torrent by 6-8am tomorrow.

One large tree or a couple of cars blocking that bridge upstream of you could put the entire parking area under a meter of fast flowing water in under 5 mins.

The Carrefour carpark would be my first point of refuge.

That’s exactly the car park I am heading to if necessary… 👍🏻

We have hopefully got a taxi picking up my wife to get her to Malaga airport in the morning. Our granddaughter is having an operation tomorrow, so the wife is going home to look after her for a couple of weeks.

Just spoke to the staff and they had a call from the Gurda Civil 10 mins ago. The rain is due from 08.00 now…

Everyone is taking it very seriously. All schools are closed. All mobiles have received the red alert warning (scared the crap out of me!), being right next to the Rio Totalan the police are in regular contact with the staff who are all staying onsite tonight and if things develop up river they will get us all out quickly and have an evacuation point they will escort us all too.

They are all saying this is precautionary… look at the stick the authorities got in Valencia, so I think they are over compensating…

Good luck...
...but remember what might usually be a few minutes drive normally, could get gridlocked very quickly.
I remember the Valencia video... from empty street, to gridlock in a dry street, to cars piled up due flood water in 40 or so minutes.

They may be over compensating, but better safe than sorry.
You would not believe the speed water can come up, we saw this on the Rhein a few years ago.

One minute we were having a glass of wine outside the van at 6pm in the evening (no rain).
We were told to move NOW!

Luckily we can pack down in a smooth operation, so awning in, chairs in the back and ready to roll inside 5 mins.
And we went to the car park of the local pub.

10 mins later our campsite was under a meter of water.

I think all the motorhomes got away as did many of the caravans, as they dragged all the easy ones out of the way

But quite a few caravans were wrecked as the owners were not in, and they simply did not have enough vehicles to tow, nor the time to remove awnings and deal with wheel clamps.

Seeing where you are ,me I would have already precautionary moved to higher ground ,as has already been said one jam up and water will find its own way of screwing up ones day
