Sliding doors on PVC's

We give ours a good old slam early evening and then use the passenger door to exit and enter. Can’t stand noisy neighbours with slamming doors, yapping dogs and even noisier kids. Bah humbug.
Happy Christmas one and all.

I must admit we had to put up with my dad for years with his old VW camper slamming his door, our daughter has a VW camper and we are on our second PVC and love them, ;) but it doesn't stop people parking next to us.
We have tried loud music, getting the dog to bark, ;)having a spanish van I suppose the next thing might be loads of kids toys outside and a screeming kids CD.
Only Joking.:gum: Bob.

My Webasto Night Heater shifts em and if that doesn't work i still have the sliding door as back up..BUSBY:xrofl::xrofl:

I hope all of you thinking about fitting soft close kits will have an alarm fitted that beeps 3 or more times everytime you arm and disarm the alarm.

I'm going to wire my opening system via an air horn :xgrin:

Just reading this thread and it brought back last Friday evening in Baltic Wharf, Bristol. Small van next to us from about 8pm on the two front doors would slam then the sliding door would go, 10 seconds later this was reversed. That went on every couple of minutes until 10.30pm virtually non stop. It went past the annoying stage but we ended up just lying in bed laughing about it wondering who was chasing who around

We parked up at Firemore Bay about as far from anywhere as is possible, no one else about. At 10pm a van pulled up beside us, the sliding door went at least 10 times before they eventually got the door to shut properly, then it all started again at about 6am.

We find our door slams directly proportional to the proximity of yapping/barking dogs :xgrin:. Otherwise we try to keep the slamming minimal.

The majority of PVC side door ‘slamming’ is down to the dash light saying ‘door open’ and then the inability to lock doors from inside.
A lot of the time the doors are shut but the little switch on the rear pillar is at fault - generally just a little dirty.
Lost count of times I’ve gone over and given someone’s little switch a quick spray of GT85 and flicked the switch a few times.
“Now give it the last slam of the evening” usually get the thumbs up from the occupants and the karma is resumed.
:xlaugh:
Worth a try.

I'll have to look for that switch. In the daylight.

Please provide a photo when you find it to help all of us with PVCs (and our neighbours)!

Righty - just braved the Wild West Wales Wind and rain and got a shot of what I meant by the switch on side ‘swoosh bang’ door.
Clean all 4 contacts and the switch in the centre and lubricate/clean whilst pushing switch in and out. Also check/clean opposing contacts on rear of door.

Hope it helps.

Looks like anyone thinking of buying into caravaning or a Motorhome in order to enjoy some peace and quiet is doomed to disappointment these days. Judging by the comments in this thread it seems like the gentle joy of caravaning has been taken over by assholes with no manners, consideration or respect, but a sad delight in being noisy.

To be honest I'm quite put off of getting another Motorhome by this thread:xsad:

Happy Christmas, 'tis the season of goodwill :xsmile:

Curious about this inside handle - anyone got a pic of one?

I'm aware of the sliding door noise, especially as I take the dog out late at night - so would love to be able to minimise it if possible.

But at the end of the day, it's just what one has to tolerate in a shared space be it noisy;
PVC doors
Folk loudly socialising
Yappy dogs
Screaming Kids
Inconsiderate campers leaving at the crack of dawn

:D2

And dawn is well fed up she says....

........and that's just the good part of motorhoming these days Steve.:xgrin:

Nicky and I have only been doing the sport for 27-months and in all honesty we've only had a couple of small issues involving inconsiderate people.

I would keep with it and enjoy yourself.

All the best,

Andrew

We have another adria pvc van right next to us......and many other pvc's very close
Therefore as we have no fireworks....i vote for a sliding door slam off style display......
Enjoy all...:xrofl:

We'd win hands down for the number of times its opened and closed as we are having to let our elderly dog out a lot for wees both during the day and night ... better than the alternative though as trying to wash and then dry out the dog bed, cushions and anything else she decides to 'Christen' is a nightmare!
