Run to the sun….

I’ve been watching this ringed dove eating the big ants.. but it’s not, it’s pecking at them to make them drop the breadcrumbs their carrying and eat that…. A mugging if ever I saw one…😎

Yes I’m bored sitting in this hot sun…☀️

Good news & bad
Good news is sun's out in Donegal and just a stiff breeze
Bad news is my conservatory is totally wrecked bits strewn over acres of ground
But the other good news is big Rab my builder is going out tomorrow to sort it all 🙂

I don't mind haggling for souvenirs , jelsbas, sandals all that jazz but I ain't haggling over fruit and veg lol.

The other bit that annoys me is the short changing.

I bought a something the other day . 20dh he said I handed him 50 and got 20 change lol

Not gonna get upset over 10dh but It happens a fair bit and it's just annoying.

The amount of veg I bought in the marjane for a fiver was unreal ....so personally if the price is gonna be inflated buying local I'll buy from the supermarket instead.
Somewhere back in this thread I mentioned the Canary Island saying 'never trust a moro', sorry to have to repeat it, but it's true.

Always mate 😁
Has your Carrefour delivery arrived yet ? 🚚

Yes… thanks to the @The Boofles… they tried to under charge me by just giving me the wine receipt so I had to shell out again an hour later for the food, told them to keep the change for going…😆😂👍🏼😉

Left them to it but suppose we’ll have a good chinwag tomorrow…🍻😎

Could it be that the Moroccans we encounter in Morocco, that have their hierarchical networks intact have different values to the chancers that have broken into a foreign country, found themselves in a desperate situation and sacrificed their values out of neccesity? Btw I'm not defending the invaders

In the 1970s in August in Almeria, where the Moorish fairground was under way there was a phrase sometimes overheard if your hearing was good - Es Moresco, es malo .....

That would be a whole new topic, another thread. You probably have no idea what 46,900 ilegal immigrants (2024) to an archipelago of 2.2 million people means.

All I can repeat is that we have seen little evidence of theft or violence in Morocco itself. We are on our 6th trip, each one has been about 2 months and covered quite a lot of the country.

We're the same Jon 6th trip to Morocco for winter 3 months at a time and have only ever encountered warm, friendly & welcoming people who just want to live their lives, never witnessed any thefts or violence, in fact many instances of the complete opposite, but that's probably for another thread too, maybe other people may have had different experiences but for us it's a great place to escape the Irish winters every year 🙂

The question I have is, if Morocco is 'safe' from thefts etc why the need for guardian parking?

There is no actual 'need' for guardian parking 1000s come here every year and wild camp their whole time here, the guardian is just someone who gets you parked up in an orderly type fashion and offers you things like do you need anything? Sim cards, foods etc obviously at a very small cost of around £1.00 to £2.00 but they always go home around 10.00pm or so, there's no one actually 'guards' your van so to speak overnight or anything the locals that park their cars etc all pay the 'guardian' too but it's just a word to describe a car park attendant really
Edit: the guardian word is probably created by the French and looking at the french/English dictionary it can mean.... keeper, guardian, custodian, caretaker, warden, watchman so it's more than likely a French term adopted over here
And they're definitely much nicer than some of the UKs campsite wardens I've encountered! 🤣

Cloudy, cold and windy so far this morning but - ever the optimists, we’re the only ones on the site with our awning still out 🤣
