Run to the sun….

It’s started, left it charging for a few minutes and then tam tapping the starter motor while I turned it over and it when first time… I’m planning on parking up and taking it off and service it if not I’ll have to buy another but it’s less then a year old..🤔

I think Garry is really reading 1.3amps, well thats how I saw it, bless him.;)(y):giggle:
Gotta forgive the odd miss when he is under so much stress & pressure down there with a non starter, in the sun, eating out, the whole world to discover.

If it is 1.3 amps its working OK.

Sound like it could be the starter motor rather than the battery.

In you photo what looks like the fuse to the B2B, the exposed parts of the crimps aren't insulated, I would do something about that. Also it's been fitted incorrectly in series with another fuse.

Looks like he was a Frenchie going by his number plate.
Maybe his wife said....listen you...you had Foie Gras, followed by snails, frog legs in garlic last night, so if you need to go now, don't do it in here!
Seriously....No excuse though, as she could have gone for walk, bloody disgusting in fact, hope he washed his hands.:sick:He didnt even have a spade to bury it!

Also the wire just sitting on the retainer for the battery is a risk of rubbing thru the insulation.

When I got back to garry his battery was reading 12.59v which was fine , turn ignition on it dropped to 11.8v but that was it powering the diesel pump and various other electric stuff switched on . Just a click when ignition turned which to me is starter problem not battery , connected my van to it , 13.8v at his battery and still a click. Give starter a few smacks while garry turned key and it started no probs .. I noticed when I was at his place that his van sounded lazy when starting. Assumed it was just as it wasn't used much.

I think either the throw out on the starter is dry or the connections at solenoid aren't the best. He's off on a hunt to find a second hand starter now.

A poor earth is worth considering. It will comprise the system.

If you still have the jump leads. Attach one end of a cable to battery neg, and the other to a lump of metal on engine block. Try the cheap things first.

Went to 4 scrapie’s around figueres and nothing.
Then went to a fiat professional and they said €1008.47…. After I literally got back off the floor he gave me the place where fiat get them, Olympic 2, looked like a big motorfactors total €320 but I’ll get €121 back on exchange. It’s a Lucas one…. So are they saying that fiat fit Lucas starter motors and charge over a grand for them…??

It’ll come in tomorrow so I’ll have to head back there in the morning and pick it up go somewhere to change it then take the old one back for the exchange, I’m parked up at a carpark just on the outskirts of figueres for the night and hope I get it going in the morning…🤔

Bought some pretty good jump leads anyway for £33 as I didn’t have any…

It’s been starting ok when it’s warmed up, it’s when it’s cold that’s the problem.

Just a thought but
I was dismissed lol.

I offered to assist

You must have whispered it…😆

It’s only a 15 minute job for one, it’ll take me 20mins as it’ll be done properly…😂🤣

I still can’t get over the fact that fiat want to charge over a grand for a starter motor, supply only…” professional “ robbers, the next time I have to go to fiat I’ll take in masks and tell them to put it on before giving me a price… 🤑🥸

Started this morning…😰

Off to collect new starter..
That's why a second hand one would have been good as its likely there's very little wrong with the current one.

But he couldn't get one at those scrapyard yesterday.

Me being a thrifty tight arse would have likely waited till I was a bit further south and tried another couple of breakers yards as sods law says it would probably start every time between here and there.

But there's also the comfort ( hopefully) of fitting a new one and forgetting about it.

Either way hopefully it sorts it out 👍
