Robbed !!!!!

We never carry anything apart from about twenty euros in cash and that's in my pocket with my hand, no phone ,camera or jewelry, nothing to pinch.

Sorry to hear
about this, it must be most upsetting. I shall tell swmbo as she always keeps her bag there too, or worse hanging on the door lock button.
Handbags are a target, I doubt a thief would make off with my trousers without me noticing.

This is a common distraction. If anyone comes up to you at a service station with a map. Lock the doors and do not open windows. give them a gormless look that says you don't understand. Start your van and go.

These theives are skilled contortionists. TO reach in and down in seconds through an A class window take some doing as most are shoulder height anyway
I thought that until I just tried it on my A Class surprising how easy it was and I'm not tall.

Hi Everybody,

Just thought we would let you all know we have been Robbed today and feel like complete idiots!!! We left Nerja this morning to drive to Camping Villasol in Benidorm for a few days . The weather was beautiful and the drive through Almeria was lovely . We stopped to get Petrol near Marazzon at service area 553 on the E15 autovia Mediterraneao at Totana . I was still writing the fuel details in our log , when a car pulled in very quickly in front of our vehicle and the driver and his lady passenger who appeared very upset and in a panic came to my window, passenger side I was still in my seat, and they started asking which way to Cartagena and saying “Sat Nav” Sat Nav” he had a large sized very screwed up map of Spain in his hands I opened my sliding window a little and he pushed further back whilst pushing the map into the cab towards me . I then pushed map out again and they jumped in the car and drove off at speed. I didn’t even realise he had taken my handbag !!! It contained the usual things ladies carry, lipsticks , mask, tissues, Pills , eyedrops and my lovely purse. It contained my bank card , 2 credit cards and €45 euros, All cancelled . I had my handbag in exactly the place most women keep their handbag at their feet !! My husband was out of his seat putting the kettle on and the habitation door was locked , We weren’t in any danger but it was very upsetting.
Watch out for these bandits and don’t get caught
So very sorry this happened to you. Hope you are feeling a little bit better now. Thank you for sharing your story, I will no longer be keeping my bag at my feet when we travel.

How did they do it, were they Spanish or British, the usual stuff....bottom line is... Don't carry your handbag on you lap, dashboard or by your feet, we know you do it, and so do those Scumbags...🥴👍🇪🇦

We had our Motorhome broken into near Almera in march, went for a walk and came back to a smashed window and a completely ran sacked interior, stolen computers/ cameras and headsets, reported to the police who said they normally get two or three a week in that area,
we cut short our holiday short by two months because the wife was so upset, still waiting on a replacement window, likely to be another 8 weeks,

I’m so sorry to hear this happened to you too ! I understand how your wife feels . I looked up from my Writing my Journal to all this shouting and really thought they needed help! We can’t help being the way we are but the experience will make sure it never happens again . Hope you both feel better soon x

Sorry did this happen while you where still on the petrol station forecourt?
We had driven off the forecourt and parked to have a cuppa and a sandwich . They must have been watching us as I hadn’t even got out of my seat. It was over in seconds and they raced away. I didn’t even realise at first my bag had gone it was all quite shocking !!!!!

Exactly like us only we managed to get away from them but very easy to be caught out

Sorry to hear you have been robbed. My ex-wife had my camera stolen in Barcelona.. She was sitting on a park bench after following the Picasso Museum trail and despite there being two of them and the camera on the bench between them, a thief managed to sneak up and take it. The bench was about 10 feet from the nearest cover behind it! The were chatting and it was gone. It was recovered as the police were raiding a block of flats nearby and the threw all the stolen bags from the balconies. Sadly hitting the ground damaged it beyond repair. The police said the flats were full of drug addicts who stole stuff to feed their habits.

I really feel for the scumbag that tries that on us. He would rapidly withdraw his arm less some flesh. I always warn people not to touch the van or try and pets the dogs. One of them is a psychopath and will shred an intruder, but is the most loving dog to the family and invited guests

Some years back had the same routine by some jokers in a French reg Renault on the N332 just south of Santa Pola. I'd stopped to take a photo of the Torre del Tamarit one Sunday morning when they tried it on. Told OH to stay in the car, lock doors while I grabbed their map from them and spread it on their bonnet to show the direction to Torrevieja. Realising they'd been sussed, they jumped back in the car and headed towards Alicante! with much wheel spinning.

Hiya have just arrived back today from quesada i was telling daughter (who lives there) your experience , she says they pray on "nice" new tourists , as you get more experienced you are wise to their tricks, and you tell them to "do one"
Also she warned of the "huggers"(two women) who prey on unsuspecting gents and pinch there walletts etc
Hope you are feeling better

exactly the same "hugger" technique used in the UK too. There has been a spate of street robberies around Bournemouth/Christchurch/Poole with Eastern European women targeting men a stealing expensive watches and wallets

A favourite in Madrid. Had to fight off three gypsy women trying to sell me a flower whilst trying to pickpocket me. Luckily I got away and a police guard from an embassy chased them off.... Only a few 100 yards from the Prado too. :(

Sorry to hear you've been targeted! As far as man bags or handbags are concerned, I highly recommend checking out a brand called "Pacsafe". I have a bag and I can't even get into it sometimes and the strap is cut proof too so no scumbag is going to try and cut it off you either.

A Spanish couple with a kid tried the old distraction routine on us in Benidorm a couple of years ago in a supermarket, but they f₩¥$&ed off a bit lively and I'm hoping it's cause he clocked my bag and thought it's a non starter.

I feel so sorry for you and anyone else who has been turned over in any way.

While travelling the same route (E15) last week we had the Englishman who “ had been robbed” and “ could we fill his water bottle “. We did that for him then he started on the “you couldn’t lend me €50 could you? Give me your address and I’ll return it when I get home”.

We informed him that we had come in on Brittany Ferries, not landed from planet Zog. He grinned and said “fair enough” before walking away.

Unfortunately thieves and scam artists thrive around motorway type services.

Sorry to hear about your experience GiGi .”

Our dog was secured in his carriage fastened to my bike. Along comes a woman who makes a fuss of him and then starts trying to undue the clips securing him, told her several time until I eventually had to chase her away.

Where was that, UK or abroad?

Did she think that she could run away faster carrying a dog than you could cycle after her? Must have been a bit short in the brainbox.
