hi all
Where's the nicest place you've toured in your mh, have you been nicely surprised by anything unexpected?

Just come back from two weeks in the Netherlands, beautiful place, lovely people and the roads made ours look a third world country.
Fully agree. The Netherlands is so often overlooked. We used to drive through without ever being there until I hurt my back pulling the caravan out and got off the ferry at Rotterdam. Couldn't drive far so stopped three weeks at Gouda, realised what a beautiful country it is. Been back loads of times.

Shetland and been the most northerly people in the UK at sunset on the longest day, only company were the puffins that were literally 6 foot away from us.
And if you don't want to go that far come to the North East and walk among the puffins on the Farne Islands.

Have to agree with mikebeaches for Austria, (Carinthia) inland Provence and the Ardennes being a pleasant surprise, I would also add the upper Ardeche away from the touristy areas, but just dont want to discount the rest of France (with the exception of Paris)

So many places, nearly all of them special in one way or another. Really love Morocco in our winter, Tend to be drawn towards Northern Spain and SW France in the summer but I'm surprised Sardinia hasnt been mentioned, wonderful scenery a few sostas in nice places, decent weather and wonderful Italian Friendliness.

Sadly I also find UK unattractive for Mh although it is slowly improving.

A few of our short breaks have been a bit lacklustre but all our longer expeditions have delivered delight for a variety of reasons. Brittany, Black Forest, Cairngorms, Suffolk, Annecy. I just look for pleasant and interesting places.

I’m glad you said Suffolk. It’s where we live and certainly a great place to visit especially our town Bury St Edmunds which has a great aire right in the middle. Ram meadow car park, basic but you can overnight for a few quid..Coastal is very quaint as well.

New Zealand for 35 days in a hired motorhome.
The best time ever.
We really liked NZ, scenery and motorhoming was fab but their Motorhomes were horrible. If it wasnt so far would seriously think about taking ours over for a temporary import.

We hired a 7.8m burstner and it was so nice we nearly bought a burstner in the uk.

We are heading back to Provence at end of May/June but would also like to cross the Rhone into Ardeche as we have only transitted it before.

We can do our own research but could you please point is to a few towns around which we should look.

TIA

It was the cycling and swimming but take a look at the aires at Le Cheylard, Lamastre, St Agreve (higher than Snowden) Les Ollieres Beauchastel and Privas but look at the cycling routes around there and it becomes far more interesting than the towns.

Further south on that side of the Rhone, anywhere along the Ceze above la roque is far better than the Ardeche which could be rammed. (in our view) but NB Chusclan aire if you have transport. Another nearby of high quality is at Uzes. Wine is better at Uzes (lovely town) than Chusclan and further cycling to Pont du Gard including a route across the Pont.

was Motorhome
UK would be a great country to tour if it was Motorhome friendly but it's so anti Motorhomes it's not worth the bother

How true. We have just arrived at free parking 1 1/2 miles from the centre of Florence having fettled with all services for free at a nice clean area at a motorway services and refilled with gas at 71 cents/litre. Granted we did pay 8 euros to use the autostrada for 60 miles of relaxing driving on smooth uncrowded roads.

I can understand that for some people motorhoming in UK is good for them, but it’s not what I call motorhoming.
