Ridge Monkey, what do you cook in yours?

We have cooked all sorts in ours and I have warmed up part baked bread on the outside plates whilst cooking something inside it. Handy gadget to have.

I have both TF & Ridgemonkey - the TF is too big for one... Much prefer the RM, seems to cook better & more evenly...
Bizarrely the genuine Ridgemonkey doesn’t appear to have ridges
The ridges are on the outside !

Bought a genuine Ridge Monkey XL Christmas, flipping small for an XL.
Does the standard one come with a magnifying glass?

Expensive for a couple of small frying pans but does work well as it seems to spread the heat evenly.
Only used it 3 or 4 times and one of the buttons that operates the spring on the handle has fallen off.

So question is what are the cheaper copies like as I'm wondering to either get a replacement or get a refund and buy a cheaper one.
I got one recently too. Was surprised at the size also. Cooked some bacon in it yesterday and had to use both sides for the 2 of us but it does fit nicely on the awkward corner burner with all 3 hobs being used.

Ours is made by TF Gear. Was about £11 on amazon. Bought it 9 months ago and it's had a lot of use at home. The non-stick is still perfect, no problems with the pan at all ??

Carp Pro Camping Sandwich Toaster... Amazon product ASIN B07H9D6T2P
We have had one for few years, used most days to cook something, still as good as new. Eggs, omelettes, sausages, fish cakes/fingers and very nice toasted sarnies.

Blimey how much do you eat?
I managed bacon, mushrooms & tomatoes in one side for both of us used the other side for eggs.

3 bits of bacon each for a sourdough sarnie!

made a great stir fry with salmon second time I used mine think it is the xl ( plain pan one side and separated the other) was yummy did the fish in a couple of the separated bits and the stirfry in the largest.

So is this the new must have item in the van to replace all the other junk i have
bill

At the risk of being ridiculed what is the diffidence between a ridge monkey and a frying pan with a lid or a George formby toaster?

This is what happens when you try and fry an egg in a TF Gear ridge monkey ?

Oh dear! I have never had that problem. Is it brand new? Maybe needs 'seasoning' with oil?
No it's about 10 months old, fine for bacon, but the spatula won't go under the egg because of the ridges. That was Ann's egg anyway, she still ate it ?

Having read about RM on this forum a couple of weeks ago, the wife ordered one from Amazon duly arrived next day. makes the best omelette ever. We haven't used it for anything else just yet but that will change soon.

nothing at the moment or for next 12 weeks it's in the van in storage oops

We're lucky, our's (is that a real word) sits on the drive, this time last year we were enjoying the lovely weather down in Spain (Miami Platja Costa Daurada). Looks like we now have plenty of time to do those little jobs we've been putting off. and looking forward to the time we can get out in it.

Quite impressed with ours but see any difference making an omelette in it to a normal frying pan.

Mine came out lovely and fluffy using the RM, opposed to flat using a frying pan. However, I'm no Jamie Oliver, omelettes are about the limit of my culinary skills, I'm ashamed to say. .

I was given a Ridge Monkey XL for Xmas and only used it a couple of times for toasted sandwiches. When I came to pack it away the other day one of the handles refused to detach when pressing the button. It was too late to return to Amazon and didn’t have proof of purchase so I emailed Ridge Monkey directly. They said smash the handle off,it should crack apart and break off,and they would send replacement handles in the post. Waiting for the delivery by DPD now.

One of the buttons broke on mine after about 3 or 4 uses not got around to contacting them yet.

One of th little black buttons came off ours the first time it was washed. I found it in the washing up bowl. The bottom has a short threaded section that screws into the sprung loaded piece that sits inside the handle spout. We just need to be mindful of this in future. Design fault..
