Rally RETROFESTIVAL NEWBURY AUGUST 2017

Agree that it was really good last year & understand that more planned for this year. RVOC & Fun have the best camping spot - much better than the general camping & cheaper too (y)

Don't you think those bloody great big American things spoilt our view somewhat?;)

Come on Phil you had one of the best pitches there were - just inside the camping area - if you had worn a patch over your left eye you would never have known there were any RV's there :whistle:

Where did you get the cactus and palm tree
They weren't ours - they belonged to our RVOC neighbours who formed part of the exhibition line at Retro (y) :D

Actually those are made from 4 inch sewer pipe and fittings and then strip coloured LED lights stuck on. The guy is called Adi and he is a real innovator

Some good news for Retro Show goers

As you will remember the air show last year appeared to be the wrong side of the Motorway. This actually was due to new strict rules bought in by the CAA on separation with the M4 and A34 directly due to the Air show crash in Shoreham the year before.

I am pleased to announce that while we cannot have much for that reason we will be having a fly past by a Spitfire

Newark will have a lot more !! See that thread

We went last year and thoroughly enjoyed it so booked early to camp again this year. I've only just become a member here and find this

Never mind, it's still worth the price.

Had a check & at the moment it's only possible to buy them at the Retrofestival shows but they are looking into providing a mail order option.

All being well I will be taking pre orders nearer the time so they can be collected on arrival at the show

time for a bump

Bump for those that have not seen it - its a well established show that improves every year with more and more going on. Club camping at special prices including access to the show make this a must if you are interested in these eras. Don't forget club camping is Thurs am to Monday am !!

Quick glimpse of the RVOC line up from last year on this Retrofestival video:

Having a look at the line up for the three stages & will post any available videos of the acts to try & tempt as many Funsters to come along as possible!

"The Swing Commanders are a vibrant Lancashire quintet whose mission is to promote sophisticated harmonies, hot solos and pretty dresses. They take the best mid twentieth century songs, from Glenn Miller to the singing cowboys of old, and give them a high energy makeover, with mid song instrument swapping and lots of humour. The band play theatres and festivals throughout Europe, and in 2015 headlined the Legends of Western Swing festival in Wichita Falls, Texas.
If you enjoy vintage style, lively music and good old fashioned entertainment, you’ll have a ball with The Swing Commanders!"

Hi Bill, I've just emailed you the completed form and sent payment.
We're looking forward to it again this year. Last year was great.
Many thanks for arranging again.
:)

Hi @Landy lover very interested in this, is there a link to book on and a list of attendees, with the follow on to Malvern looks really good. :)

It was great last year any idea what the latest arrival time is on the Friday as I still work:( if we turn up late couls we stop in the car park or general camping near the gate and move to the rally area next morning?

Sure @Landy lover will advise on this when he has a chance.
Expect that there will be quite a few coming in after leaving work so may be useful for others to know too :)

Depends on what time you arrive one way or another we will sort you out.

Another couple of acts on Friday:
"Based in Bristol and Manchester, UK The Downtown Daddyo’s perform songs from the 1950’s from memorable artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Ray Charles, Carl Perkins, Johnny Preston, Bobby Darin, Johnny Ray and Louis Prima to name a few. With a wealth of knowledge on rock’n’roll music the band endeavour to play their songs with the intention of making you either tap your feet or get up on the dance floor and jive the night away whilst enjoying the music of a much appreciated and well followed era. ‘The Downtown Daddyo’s’ have already received much acclaim from rock’n’roll clubs, weekend festivals, and allday events where they have played and have had superb reviews in the rock’n’roll music press with comments of ……’What a brilliant night, the band are a breath of fresh air on the circuit’, ‘Loved all the material you played, and the vocal harmonies were excellent. Can’t wait to see you guys again, the dance floor was heaving, and I can’t remember when I danced so much’. ‘What a fantastic night of rock’n’roll music!’ This band is truly one of the top bands on the circuit, real Rock’n’Roll as it should be!"

These are on our wishlist to see (y)
"Rockin’ the Joint are a 3 piece rock and roll band formed in 2001. Since bursting on the scene they have remained one of the busiest bands on the circuit, supplying rock and roll, jive, swing and rockabilly to fill the dance floor all over the country. The band features the renowned lead vocals and guitar of Mike Robbins, originator of the group, alongside the skilful musicianship of Oli Lee on Slap Bass and vocals, and drums by lifelong pro Alan Eden".
