Restrictions that result in lack of facilities for motorhomes

So if your not a member your stuffed! Just highlights the need for aires even more.
This is just the Club sites; I imagine the CLs and CSs will make their own minds up!

Irrespective of the number of Aires vs CL/Cs's I don't think we should be comparing them because they are so different.
CL/CS's are largely farmer's fields and were developed for caravans. Caravans are easier to level, don't get bogged down so easily and are often towed with 4x4 vehicles. CL/CS's are usually out of the way, so some other form of transport may be needed if you intend to stay a while.
Aires are designed for motorhomes, usually hard standing, reasonably level, and provide somewhere to dump without using a bucket. You can also come and go as you please - no arrival/departure times.

As far as stats are concerned, it might be more interesting to compare the number of spaces available with the number of units trying to use them. Not easy to measure, I'll accept, but competition for the spaces available in France is nothing like as fierce as it is over here.

CL's and CS's are limited to five motorhomes/caravans. So based on 3,800 CL's/CS's, there are 19,000 'pitches' available.

I wonder whether there is a motorhome forum in France that's having a similar conversation - extolling the virtues of the UK's CS's/CL's: How marvellous that they are mostly in the open countryside, limited to five units, reasonable price, twice as many per sq. Km as France, no crime, lovely site owners etc.

Just a little update on this although nothing spectacular to report. I got a reply from my MSP's office today, although it does seem like a generic 1st reply it is a little bit positive.

copy and pasted:

Thank you for contacting Ash Denham MSP in regard to Motorhome facilities
