Remap Euro 6 Ducato

I have had a TuneIt box fitted to five Fiats, it was supplied originally by Essenjay Fiat in Poole and fitted to the older 2.8 to help get the best out of a Burstner 821 and towing a “toad”. It was then transferred to another 821 for a couple of years. It was subsequently removed on sale, sent back for a free update and then fitted to a Euro 5 /130 bhp and two years later to a 150 bhp motor. We were more than happy with the performance, both the torque increase and slightly improved fuel consumption.
Unfortunately it could not be updated for Euro 6b so they took it back in part exchange for a later model which had greater “ brainpower” Although we now have an Auto Trail V Line 635 (6.36mtrs) 130 motor and not fitted until we had done nearly 5000 miles it has made a vast improvement to it’s pulling power/torque but in this case hardly an improvement in consumption. Saying that, I do tend to drive this van conversion at the top of whatever speed limit is applicable, have seen ( in Germany ) over 90 mph on the sat Nav quite easily on a few occasions when
The TuneIt unit is adjustable, it has a dial that can be set set to different performance situations,1 - 9. It came set at number 5 and we have not felt the need to turn the dial up to increase power.
Now for the interesting bit, the original cost was £375 and when that was exchanged the replacement unit cost £275 ( not new but obviously exchange and refurbed ) The first unit was bought in 2005, the latest one in 2017 total cost £650 and bear in mind that I can remove it in a couple of minutes, either to sell if I need to or if the Fiat developes some problem and the ecu needs looking into, I am quids in.
I hope this information is a help, we have been motorhoming for 26 years, owning 13 and all bar one have been Fiats. The only Renault, Adria AClass was useless. We have not suffered one problem with the Fiats, well a gearbox mod and engine mount recall due to reverse judder, each one have usually had a “ toad “ behind most of the time and not sold until 20,000 miles.

Great response, thanks very much for information

I have a Racechip plug and play chip fitted to my pathfinder and it provides 8 mpg more and it picks up much quicker In all gears. I notified my insurance and was advised that as long as the chip did not increase bhp by more than 30 bhp then they were fine with it, they would not consider the chip as modification.
racechip will remap my box if I swap it to a new vehicle so I am seriously considering fitting it to my pvc after 15000 miles.

Speaking from experience last year I made the big mistake of buying a fiat autotrail new from a dealer who persuaded me a remap would be a good idea, fortunately I phoned fiats help line who told me it would completely invalidate the warranties so dealer took it off.
Having more trouble with vehicle in the first few weeks took it to a fiat commercial dealer as per fiats advice they immediately picked up the remap but did a reset free of charge but told me I no longer had any warranties and the garage said all warranty fiat look for any excuse not to honour a warranty if the vehicle has been messed with its in their small print. long and short of it was complete refund from dealer as along with other problems that was the final straw
