Put me out of my misery

Much prefer the flat ones, trying to get the fried egg out of those ribs...........and it only toasts where it touches? :giggle:
I don't do fried egg - much prefer poached :)

It toasts all over but darker on the ribs like the electric toaster at home where the toast is a different colour where the wire supports touch.

No toaster is as good as thetford grill

err at the risk of stating the obvious - have you tried putting the bread into the slot sideways? This is what I do when I do my weekly 'toast duty' at Mum's. The toast is then toasted evenly across each slice.

One can even do a form of poached egg on a flat griddle.

Heat the plate, have a small metal covering such as a handless shallow saucepan, and a wet tissue.

Break the egg on the plate, put wet tissue near it, cover both with handless saucepan, trapping the steam and leave for a couple of minutes.

Remove saucepan, put egg on toast, Enjoy! :giggle:

As promised, the name on my griddle plate is 'Casty' and just had a quick buzz through their website but, as I bought mine at the VW BusFest about 10yrs ago, sadly they no longer appear to do a Cast Iron FLAT griddle! (my look was quick though.)

This is a pity because I have another, slightly smaller, that not only goes on top of the stove but also under the grill.
Just one word of warning, invest in a good pair of oven gloves with fingers, cast iron can get bl**dy hot!

I NEVER wash it up, when its cooled slightly after eating, with my flat metal spatula, (wallpaper scrapper :giggle:) I just push the few remaining bacon and bread bit left on the griddle, over to the side, collect and wipe it with Kitchen roll and again before cooking.
(never had any stomach problems (except it's getting too big), in case your wondering :giggle:)

Try putting Cast Iron FLAT Griddle in your search engine and I'm sure you will find something, Good Luck! 🤞

PS. Just seen the above post and I have never had problems with storage as, when it's cooled, I wrap it in a teacloth and store it under the grill instead of the grill pan.
many thanks

We just got a new air-fryer at home and the versatility is brilliant. I’m no thinking I’ll get one for the motorhome. A bit smaller perhaps. No more messy fry-ups. Sausages and bacon, no probs AND toast. If we stick with scrambled eggs in the microwave then job done.
