Possibly smelly question

Here we go!

cant you install your own drain into the septic tank by connecting into the drain that feeds into it? check if any of your rainwater drains also terminate into the septic tank (unusual if they do but not unheard of)

effectively all you need is to connect into the drains somewhere and put a gulley in where you can park the vehicle over when emptying. you also prob need a hose pipe long enough to reach for cleaning purposes.

it sounds simple, but it really is. the main issue being of course are distance and depth. push fit pvc fittings make the job really simple to install.

no more paying fees to dump your waste .....
In shirt - long way, BIG job and no drain to easily connect to otherwise would have done it - pretty happy with my compost solution now having mulled it over for weeks

Hi is Ammovit good for normal thetford cassettes and where can I get it, sounds like good stuff if it makes the smell go away as I can see all of us using our own facilities for the foreseeable future.
Get it from Amazon - I believe it is also known as Agrotex

Empty it more often on the way home?

Ah ha Ammovit its back in stock now as of 24th May last time I looked it was unavailable in the UK and I struggled to order it from Germany.

Might have to treat myself, well not literally ;)

Is your sceptic tank due for emptying soon? Could the tanker get near your van a well (they have long hoses) join the hoses with duck tape. The suction will stop any spillage.

We have a manhole/inspection hatch leading to our mini sewage farm... Like septic tank but glazed brick construction and two Chambers, big enough to climb inside and walk around when it's empty which it hasn't been for 20 years.
I invested in 4 x 4mtr x 100mm soil pipes and couplers.
Emptying the RV black tank was easy,
join the pipes and lay on axle stands to form a drop then open the manhole.
The rest needs no explanation.

In a previous life I used to be into selling agricultural buildings with asbestos cement clad roofs ... quite often it was a condition of planning consent that the building be sprayed with cow's sh1t :Eeek: . Apparently to promote the growth of moss and lichens and tone down the brightness.
Having built dry stone walls, one trick was to get the farmer to drive his muck spreader along the wall, this helps greatly with 'aging" the wall. As said above, it promotes mosses and lichens to grow.

Only empty it once a year.
I seldom arrive home with a full black tank as I general,y empty on the way home at a C and CC site. Just got caught out this time and it happens occasionally.

thanks again for the suggestions

When I had the R-V`s I had a macerator pump. 3" inlet connection, 1" outlet,it would pump in excess of 30M (level) and less if "uphill". On one site, with a full tank, I asked the Farmer/owner if/where I could dump. He just said put it on the field behind!, we are ploughing next week!.

i have looked into this and chatted to the suppliers. The connectors just don’t fit to the black tank outlet - the lugs are in the wrong position.
I have a solution I am happy with

Ah!. I did not have that issue. Mine was mounted on 3/4" Ply base and (suction) connected to a short length of Sewer hose. Wired to a socket in the basement locker.

You do not need to connect the macerator directly to your waste outlet. And by the way there are several pumps out there with options. Make up a short pipe connector with on one end whatever is the outlet from the van and the other to fit the inlet on the pump, then 1inch hose for 10's of metres to your manhole. I have been using this setup for years turning basic pitches into fully serviced!

Here is a good solution. It has 2 input connectors, ignore the hooked one that is for US RV connections. The threaded pipe connector is 1.5BSP I think so make up an option from the van outlet. My pictures above demonstrate the principles.

By the way glad to hear the good news about Ammovit and that my recommendation has been so widely adopted;). For those that asked, my mate was impressed so he tested a sample I gave him in his cassette and he bought a load. One caveat, you need a few days for it to "work" so daily cassette emptying will be a waste:giggle: of time!

Ammovit ?. I`m intrigued. but looking online the "instructions" appear to be in German and using Google on the text produces some "interesting" English! in translation.!. Any one got a "Potted" Biography?.

Here is the thread I started way back:-

Make sure the compost is left for at least a year if putting on food crops, unless you can ensure the compost has reached temperatures high enough to kill off any organisms.

Very interested in this thread. How much Ammovit do you need to use and do you need the usual (green) toilet liquid?
Many thanks

Reading Michaels thread linked above it suggest 2 table spoons but that is in a 300l tank so over 10 times the volume of a cassette, I think to be honest you may have to do your own tests as most user experience will be with large tanks, also as suggested regular emptying of a cassette may negate any effect as larger black tanks tend to sit a stew for a while before being emptied.

So, our motorhome is parked up at home and the Black Tank is full - C and CC sites are closed so can't do what I usually do which is nip to a site and pay a few quid to empty.

We are not on main drains so we have a septic tank - unfortunately it is a fair distance from the vehicle and I can't drive near it. I have probably 80 litres of black tank which has been treated with both the green organic chemicals AND also Ammovit. My first thought was, b**ger it - I will empty into a bucket and cary it bucket by bucket and pop it into the septic tank. 9 or 10 trips with a two gallon bucket should do it.

However, it then occurred to me that as my wife keeps 5 compost bins quite close to the vehicle I could stick a bucketful in each and it would be good for composting and save me quite a walk with a bucket full of dubious liquid!.

The Green chemical is clearly organic and the Ammovit says:

Ammovit is an excellent and proven agent for feces treatment, which is manufactured according to the unchanged special recipe. Ammovit can be used to process manure and liquid manure. Ammovit eliminates unpleasant smells, at the same time provides the soil with organic, potassium, phosphate and nitrogen fertilizers and improves soil soil through the formation of colloids. Ammovit is ecologically harmless when used as intended. Ammovit has no adverse impact on plant growth and the environment. The end products of the Ammovit application are valuable nitrogen fertilizers and natural soil components.

So what do you think before I undertake this jolly exercise? Septic tank or compost?

I want to have it empty so that when we can go out - even if it is for a day out at the beach with the dog, we can make our own tea and coffee, feed and water ourselves etc without having to worry about social distancing or using public loos etc. So, one way or another, it is getting emptied.

Thanks (expecting a few poo jokes but some serious answers would also be appreciated).
I’ve composted mine without problem and grown vegetables in it afterwards.

It will be at least a year - all relatively new compost heaps

So, my outlet is directly underneath the motorhome - straight drop. I have a hose with lugs that fit the outlet - what I then need is something to connect the end of that hose (or a shortened version of it) to the macerator pump in your link.
