Please can someone explain why motorhomers need these things? I can see they are ideal for tenters, maybe even for a caravanner but why for a motorhomer. We can fit as much fit and forget solar real estate on the roof that we have space for, we can lithiumise our leisure battery system to very chunky, We can install an inverter that will run the toaster or microwave oven, even a hair dryer god forbid, And NONE of this requires carrying about, its all in place ready to be used. So why would you want to lug about, find somewhere to store one of these lumps. Asking for a friend!!

hi every one yes i have portable power station lithium battery po4 500w been useing it 4months now should have got the bigger one 1kw it works 12v tv, 12v led lights all wkend fri 7.0am to sun 9pm and only use 40% power out of 100% full charge my 100ah battery only use for diesel heater in winter time both batterys charge for now with engine split charger solar panels are ready to fit after winter in summer will use 150w inverter run 240v mains 17 ltr fridge, and 240v mains,12v battery med size fridge freezer on longer trips up north scotland so my thinking was lithium po4 power station recharge saves power for 12v diesel heater on bosch 100amp battery to keep my toes warm the lithium batterys100ah are coming down in price now when my 2 bosch battery go faulty then will buy lithium battery which will be more a fordable in say year or 2 thats my own experience so for so good carry on camping
If I understand this correctly you will struggle to run a 240v fridge on a 150w inverter from my experience

Could you link to a power pack that can supply a 1400w air fryer for £500! I agree you can get a lot lower power air fryers than that and run them off a smaller power pack but then how often before charging. A lot seem to be going for a big power pack plus a portable solar plus the air fryer as I said very expensive if that all you want one for. I actually bought one for a guitar amp off grid it was cheaper than a battery amp with a similar spec but it wasn't a clean enough supply to work.
Assuming 1400w constant output (Query would it cycle as my Lavazza coffee pod machine does?) my Ecoflow Delta 2 available new at £549-£599 at the moment would last just over 30 minutes. But if buying together you would choose a lower output air fryer. A better example is an 800W microwave that you can run for circa one hour. Given that a ready meal for one cooks in around 4 minutes that combination works well. Even using an air fryer for the typical period of circa 20 minutes with a single solar panel or a morning's driving will have the Delta 2 full again next day for another evening's cooking.

P.S. All my 240V "must haves" are relatively low power drain. I could run them of a pure sign wave inverter but that would set me back the thick end of £500 to run of the leisure battery once installed or maybe more and then I might begin to feel my 100Ah lead acid was too low a capacity and so would add a 2nd for circa £100 or swap to lithium at more cost.

Just to put some prospective here I had 440w solar £230,30a B2B with mppt £185, 320ah self build Bluetooth self heating battery £300 (now less) 2000w pure sine inverter £160,good Bluetooth shunt £45 so throw in wire etc total circa £1k.So if you can self fit set against a £600 power pack and folding panel 200w £150 a lot more for a little extra but if you have to add labour and top price components a power pack would make perfect sense for many

I have a eco flow delta 2 with extra battery. Its main function is to recharge my leisure battery in winter as we only use cs/cs sites without hook ups.It is not a very efficient way to do this but it does mean we will have enough power for 3 to 4 days.Others think they are an unnecessary addition and a waste of money. My answer to those people would be OK don't buy one then!

For anyone (like us) considering Jackery - there's a £15 stackable discount code here https://uk.jackery.com/pages/referral-invited?referralCode=F2AI03 Have started shopping around trying to work out the best deal - using WELCOME10 takes 10% off & the £15 off voucher may work on top of that? Have read that warranty is best if buying direct & the Black Friday price on the Explorer 1000 V2 https://uk.jackery.com/products/explorer-1000-v2-portable-power-station with fold down handle (£489 or maybe £474) looks good & can see that a Funster or two have already opted for this. Considering adding the car charging cable & maybe the bag which are also discounted if bought with the power station.
Will add a separate more detailed thread shortly so as not to hijack this one any further!

I doubt they will drop any more. £549 and £599 for supposedly reconditioned Delta 2s but in reality seemingly new are likely to be the best deals going. Somehow they have got to climb back to a price of £899 post Black Friday. My guess is that they are going to sell out at those prices and the product will be on back order.

P.S. My supposedly reconditioned Ecoflow 160 watt solar panel arrived mid-week. It has all the hallmarks of coming straight off the production line with zero sign of damage to the packaging.
I tried to order Ecoflow suckers (£28) to go with the panel but they were sold out. I managed to source them via Ebay (My offer of £25 was accepted). That sounds expensive but it is a pack of eight and they are really well engineered. These panels are heavy so I can see I might need all eight to say mounted on the side of the van clear of the ground.

My preliminary thoughts are to aim to park the van front facing east and mount the panels overnight on the windscreen then move them round the van through to the rear for evening sun but I bet it will not be that easy!!
Meantime I am going to set them up on the interior of my sunlounge windows (facing south) and see how they do there attached to the Delta 2 out of interest and to collect some data over the next week or so.

The 220W panel might be quite a handful to set up given the weight (especially if, like me, you are doing it solo). I went for the 160W. At an overall width of 5ft and height of 26 inches and a dead weight of 5 kg I should be able to mount it on the windscreen facing east for morning sun and if I am very lucky on an empty aire or the like I can turn the vehicle occasionally to keep facing the sun and help keep the van cool at the same time! I don't really rate their system of mounting crosswise in the carrier bag but it is well made and excellent for storage.

P.S. Delta 2 still showing as £599 on Amazon and I managed to get my panel for £134.10 by joining their mailing list and buying direct from Ecoflow.

Good info for me, thank you
The £599 is the refurbished unit ?

Slightly more expensive for our lithium

280 ah lithium 700
350 watts solar 500 (including all necessary stuff)
3000 watt inverter 200

So 1400 quid gives me as much electric as I can use all the way round the van for a number of years (with the exception of winter here when I have no intention of using the van for extended periods)

Yes that is right direct from Ecoflow. The same unit was also on Ebay direct from Ecoflow at £549 a couple of days ago. Not sure whether that is also still available but the Amazon one definitely is.

The quality of their products generally is excellent.

hiya oldiesontour hope you are well & happy with reply think been bit confusing summer in camper have 2 bosch 100amp batterys + 355w panels + split charger when engine is running a 150w inverter which runs mini 17 ltr fridge 240v = 40w power it switch on & off all day long or can use 240v or 12v dc 25 ltr cool box fridge 26w or freezer 30w in power not both 1 or the other on long trips yes both be up and running diesel heater not in use in summer the power station 500w not in use lots of solar power in summer time

winter time i take 1 bosch 100amp battery out and replace with power station 240v =500w or 500w dc not both at one time one or the other winter dc only no mini fridge or fridge or freezer cool box use ice packs works well wkends the diesel heater works on 1 bosch battery only the power station works dc 12v 7w tv , dc 12v = 2w lights i am a positive thinking person and hope you now understand the set up as every person in the camper van world think differently from 1 person to the other person carry on camping 23/11/2024

We use the ecoflow Delta 2 with extra battery and the solar panels. the set up is ideal for use on our rally's when we carry 2 freezers. One freezer has the dogs food in it the other 12.5kg of bacon. It also powers the lights & ice machine in the marquee... perfect for keeping the 160L of craft ale at temperature.

Off grid it's also perfect for the laptop & cooling fans. Both the main unit & battery will fully recharge during 90 minutes of driving via a 12v lighter socket.

Domestically, more than once it's kept us going during power outages caused by the numpty Redrow builders a couple of fields away.

£27.99 for my 1,400 watt air fryer from Aldi lol (y)
We got the two drawer Dawoo one for £55 for home from Lidl. We previously had the cheap Aldi one and use it so much we wanted to have more space and switch the ordinary oven on less.

I have a larger Russell Hobbs air fryer at home but the small cheap Aldi one in the van works fine and is big enough for 2 people.
My friend travels solo in his van and uses a £20 air fryer from either Asda or Tesco.

MH sales brochures and magazine articles feature a solo MH parked by the sea, lake, mountain, but never packed together at a campsite, with cables, kids and dogs running everywhere.
It's all about getting away from it all by taking it all with them.
Some owners buy into the dream on the brochures/articles but then tie themselves to the kit of their life at home.
Then stress about Anxiety Panel displays, pumps that won't pump, chargers that won't charge, heaters that won't heat, fridges that won't cool, showers that won't drain, tyres that won't grip, awnings that won't awn, loos that won't flush............

That is rated at 1,500 watt max.
That would be running right at its limit powering a 1,400 watt air fryer.
It's never a good idea to run them flat out.
To power a 1,400 watt appliance really you want a 2,000 watt rating.
You're welcome to add whatever contingency you like.

I've run my ecoflow up to its rated output fairly regularly and it's still working fine.

We 'coped' very nicely with one lithium leisure battery and solar, mainly long weekends in this country, all year round, whilst rallying. Last year we bought a powerpack, which now means I can use a hairdryer and in winter can use an electric blanket. Little luxuries which are not necessary, but nice to have. We can also use it in the communal gazebos for lights and music etc. It also good to know there is a back up, which is separate from the Moho set up. We are pleased with our choice.

I have them in combination with a Clayton power set up, part of it was for ease of use/installation as I can run everything of 12v if I have too including the fridge/freezer but the other big plus is I live in quite a rural area and they are great for power cuts, I have another one in the house too

You have listed several things which I have not even heard of, never mind thought of having in a MH.

We have just done 3-months in Europe all off-grid relying on 2 x 85Ah L/A batteries charged by a B2B and 80W solar and one11kg re-fillable gas cylinder. FREEDOM!
Was it sunny there?
