Rally POLLY AND DAVE'S (AUTUMN) MEET 30TH SEPTEMBER - 4TH OCTOBER 2021

There is no fuel at all around where we live so unless the situation improves considerably by Friday we won't be able to come. Don't even have enough petrol in car to get us to our motorhome storage. Hope to come as I'm looking forward to it.

Due to work commitments and changes due to this fuel shortage problem I wont be able to attend this time. Hope you have a great time.

We wont be able to attend the meet this year, The van will be at the dealers in Somerset getting fixed, and will probably stay there until the fuel pumps are back to normal.
Hope all goes well for those who can manage to attend.

For info: We’ve seen lots of garages that appeared to have fuel on route from Lincoln and only queues of one or two cars at each pump.

However Sainsbury’s Spalding was having a fuel delivery when we arrived for our click and collect and by the time we came out there was a very long queue that was about to cause all sorts of issues for other people coming and going. They had 3 staff on the entrance managing it.
 
Hi Dave and Polly, do you have room for a little one? Thursday eve arrival, not before 6:00pm, If EHU is available that would be helpful but could manage without although I would then have to brave the queues to find somewhere with LPG.

Garage at Sleaford where A17 and A15 meet had LPG. We filled up after queuing for about 5 mins. Passed 2 further garages on A17 with fuel one of which had LPG on the price board.
 
Dave, looking at the weather and contemplating putting the Quest up. Will there be enough room for it?

We are going to have to cancel Steve needs dental work and the only day they can fit him in is Friday so we won’t be able to make it

Don’t know if we will make the rally, we are broken down on the A17 Near East Heckington. I’ve been on hold to RAC Arrival for over 30 minutes without getting through. I’ve also tried using the online facility to report the breakdown, but that won’t accept my details 🤬. Finally got through using the car breakdown phone number but was told I needed to contact commercial because of the motorhome. Explained about being on hold for 30 minutes and was told he would forward our details internally, but to expect a 4-5 hour wait 😳
 
Scratch that - Jeff has got us running 👍
 
Getting Diesel was not the problem. Getting stuck in a half hour plus queue with the plebs so I could get to an LPG pump …. Thanks Sainsbury’s staff Watford who opened it up (y)

Looks like lots are leaving today so we’d just like to say a BIG thank you to Polly and Dave who work so hard to make the rally fun! It’s our first here but I’m sure it won’t be the last.

We especially loved the quiz, bingo and Simon’s gig, it was such a good night and it was lovely to get to know some people a lot better.

Hopefully see you in a field again sometime.

While I appreciate some had logistical issues ( fuel etc ) I do think those that cancelled at the last minute should offer a payment for their pitch as Dave and Polly ended up having to work out a deal with the site owner for all the pitches that were booked and left empty

And I would also like to thank Dave and Poly not only for arranging the meet for us but also the substantial donation made to air ambulance even though they were left out of pocket

It would be the honourable thing to do.
 
I feel that we should wonder over to the bar and drink copious amounts of booze to help out. Should I ? 🤔😆
my liver is hinting i have already done that bit :drinks:

Made an early exit (for us) as we have a click & collect in Spalding. Thanks again Dave and Polly!

Have to agree with John Jaws that the amount of late no shows shouldn’t put them out of pocket.
 
Thank you Dave and Polly for all your hard work this weekend. The weather could have been a bit better but it didn’t stop me having a good time. The surprise was yesterday’s weather turned out to be a lovely sunny day.

Just to re-iterate what others have said, thank you for organising this weekend Polly and Dave. You didn't need the hassle that you got.
