Can't help, avoid cities like the plague especially large ones like Paris.
But I'm sure someone will be along soon to advise

many many years! since I was a kid
Other than a few obvious bits of architecture I really don't like Paris or may other big cities for that matter. The dirt, the smell and the ridiculous high cost trying to fleece the tourists takes the shine off. A nice site a short train journey outside would be my choice. Public transport in France and other European countries are so much easier than the UK

I was on an aire in Bergerac a month ago and a French camper was telling me about this place. I said I would never take the MH into Paris. He said he uses it often and it is very good. I like Paris, but always stay well away from the place and train it in.

We stayed at a nice Aire in Beauvais, which is about 40miles north of Paris. You can get the train into Paris from there.
its free to stay at (iirc) and is a 10 min walk to the station. The town is also very pretty and has an amazing gothic cathedral.
It's on Park4night (iirc).

Your memory is good. Beauvais was free about 3 or 4 years ago, but of a hill down to town but hardly Ventoux. Nice functional aire

When we went to Paris we stayed there, it was an ACSI site so cheap for it's location. We rode our bikes across the park to Paris and used them to get around so didn't have to do the endless walking from one attraction to another and saw a load of stuff in one day which would otherwise have taken several. If you can I suggest you do the same.

The French we met on the RL Stevenson trail this year were very negative about the Paris olympics and properly worried that the security would not be up to the risk.

Paris is a city I hope never to revisit.

I was listening to a guy on the radio the other day saying the Olympics wasn't turning out to be the cash cow expected in France.
Hotels, guest houses etc not getting the bookings and having to cut prices and scale back staffing requirements.
The security aspect must be a nightmare

I’m off to Paris on the Eurostar tomorrow with my daughter. I love Paris. Of course it’s expensive. It’s the capital. London isn’t cheap!

When we camped we also stayed at Maison Lafitte . Very convenient.
