Payload

nice thought lenny, but no, its 60 ltrs alright....i didnt give the fuel tank capacity a thought till i brimmed the tank for 28 quid the other day from 1/2 a tank.. at the time i wondered if the gauge was faulty, it never occurred to me it had a tiny tank.

it has a 130ltr water tank, thats fine. so.. you say i can get a bigger tank for it ???

One factor nobody has taken into account is that some engines now give more mpg, which would partly compensate for smaller tanks in terms of converting the capacity to range.

Geoff
maybe since the 2.8 engine days, but i think most 2.3 now and will do 30mpg if your sensible i know my bolero did and im sure thee apache will once its run in a bit more, still a bit tight at 1800 miles

2019 Burstner 90 litre fuel tank just done 3000 miles around France avg 24 mpg.

The 90 Lt fuel tank I think is a standard Fiat option, a lot of the German converters fit them as standard. So should be possible to replace the 60 Lt with a 90 Lt.

again i agree lenny on the 90 ltr tank, i was shocked about the 60ltr... maybe a 90ltr tank next year, must be a few lying around...

your all just chiming in now to depress me. I saw a couple of 90ltr tanks for 100 quid, bloody annoys me, they are plastic tanks, so the only reason I have a toytown tank is to give autotrail a better theoretical payload, are we going to have future vans with 30ltr tanks so they can say it has a payload capacity of xxx to satisfy the payload monster and non c1 drivers?

Why does it anoy you?
Ducato's have had plastic tanks since 2006.
Most cars have had plastic tanks since the early 90's.

I think the annoyance was not about the plastic, but that they fitted a toy town 60L tank to make the payload look artificially better when they'd prefer a tank more appropriate to the size of the vehicle that doesn't need filling twice a day when on a long journey.

AT trick with there crap payloads you would think they would least fit the standard 75 Lt.

Perhaps they should quote a fixed volume of fuel, rather than a percentage of the tank capacity, so they aren't tempted to stick a 500ml water bottle in as the fuel tank.

correct, plastic is fine with me

250 miles in 3 hours ?? what ya got ? the millennium falcon ?????

My riot van would easily do this! Although I choose not to for licencing reasons!

I should really look into getting cruise control. This thing really isn't happy pootling at 70mph. I know a previous Zafira I had you could fit cruise by buying the stalk on eBay for £30 and paying a friend beers to enable it. (Of course a main dealer would happily offer to do the lot for you for £700).

Having looked at the 2017 brochure tank size is dependant on the motorhome. The Apache 632 &634 come with 60L, Apache 700 90L.

As Lenny says the fuel tank is easily swapped out and I suppose you won't really be driving around with 145L of freshwater (135 in the tank & 10 in the boiler)

All brochures back to 2003 are available on AT's website. the 2021 brochure is there now too.

I believe a big drawback with retro fitting a larger fuel tank is that the engine management system (ECU) will still the same size tank so that the fuel gauge will be under reading if that's so, and it was on a friends a year or three ago (2.8 engine). I suppose you'd learn to interpolate or pay £400 for a new ECU!

i was rather hoping the sender that would be in the second hand tank would talk to the ecu correctly, but i get completely the 60l sender would be wildly out, so as you say.. it might read wrong but im hoping not.

Why not, we would never leave home without our 160 Lt full, never know when you will next be able to fill up.

Yep i know that, thanks but I don't want to do any mods hence the original question, looks like I may be at max already then without mods!
You will most likely need an air suspension kit.
