Passenger Airbag Fault

Just phoned crashdata as they are having problems with their website. You might get an error message after the payment page. Nice lady says just phone them up for the booking number, she is trying to get issue fixed.
My booking and transaction had gone through.

Had the same problem earlier this year for the same van base but a 2013 model, having gone around the houses trying everyone and everything (trapped wires, flat batteries etc) an auto electrician gave the ECU prognosis. Apparently they are a sealed unit and cannot be fixed and it cost me £250 to replace.

Crash data in Liverpool are repairing them every day for £80.?

Riverbankannie Back on line.
Pleased to hear you've got it out and off to them.(y)
The first lady I spoke to (Jill \ Jane \ something like that) said safer removing both terminals however the second lady I had an online chat with (Linda \ or something like that) - you can tell I'm good with names!- said negative should be OK but as I had already removed the thing with both terminals disconnected .........
Online chat said 15 mins dwell but someone on FIAT forum said 30 mins so went with that and as Dorset Diver said that's how long it took me to put the kettle on and have a cuppa! I'm a better safe than sorry feartie!:whistle2:
Hopefully they can repair it however if it's non-repairable I think they are one of the cheaper "new" suppliers. Think I've also read that the new ones are a bit more tolerant of "low voltage" issues which is one of the main reasons for failure.
Well done perceivering and getting it removed and, hopefully, it's repairable.(y)

Had my codes read today by my mechanic. He got a code saying seat sensor issue and casing ground fault. So I've booked mine in with a local independent foat specialist for thursday

I had the same issue after my battery died in storage, but I bought the icarsoft and reset the code which has been OK since I replaced the cab battery (4 months or so) Today the same fault code come back up "front drivers seat belt buckle open circuit". Any ideas anyone? no chaffing of wires, but I did move the seat around a lot yesterday?
BTW the icarsoft has a bit of an odd menu structure if you have an x290 van, the menu option is Ducato other then the 2014 option.

I had this fault too. Diagnosed as faulty airbag ECU. New one installed at just under £500. I should have sent it off to be fixed at crash-data but didn't research it in time to know about them.

I was told that moisture/condensation from the windscreen travels down behind the dashboard and into the ECU, causing it to fail. I now put a flannel at the bottom of the windscreen to catch condensation and ensure I sweep any condensation away from the centre. The replacement ECU has been fine for the past two years so hopefully the flannel has helped.

Looking at the position pictures of the ECU, I'm not convinced the condensation travels down to it but the company who told me about this would definitely know about the cause of this problem. They are a big player in the MH accessories and parts industry.

Any views from those who have taken out a unit, inspected one, found water ingress as a cause or thinks one way or the other that ingress could/couldn't be a cause - would be a great contribution to this thread.

Ours definitely did not have a moisture ingress issue. Also, if it had, I would have expected this to be visible on the surrounding floor \ floorcoverings.

Had my code read as B0102-00
Crashdata say its knackered and cant be repaired!
They want around £350 for a new one, anyone found another supplier?

That’s gone up £50 since we had ours replaced last year, we had the same fault number. Corrosion inside due to condensation which I believe affects motorhomes in particular, rather than vans because of the heating we have on when parked up is very different to normal heating the cab whilst driving. During normal ‘Van like’ use it will heat up from the cab blow air, whereas in stationary motorhome use it will remain a cold surface for condensation to form on. I wondered if it may be a good idea to cover it somehow.

It is covered with a lower dashboard panel, and then, in our case with carpet. However still awaiting our results.

By ‘covered’ I probably should have said sealed from the warm air getting to it.

Just booked ahead for MOT in November and was recommended 5 year cambelt change and with that the water pump at same time £900 plus service £170 plus MOT £50. I wonder if all that includes VAT?
Car also booked in (dealergarage) to check all the warning lights (probably result of low voltage due to lack of use) and service. Ouch! Bank balance taking a hit this month as insurance and road tax too.

A lot of Peugeot base vehicles were supplied without the air con drain fitted ( mine hadn’t one) when air con was used condensation dripped from the unit onto the floor around the ecu. Mine ecu failed from corrosion. Only 2 months earlier I discovered water dripping from air con and fitted the missing pipe. Took 5 years to find pipe was missing as only used air con on hot days.

Grrrr ... took our 2017 X290 out for a drive today and the airbag fault warning light and seatbelt warning light both stayed on. The passenger airbag disabled light is also on. Loud warning bleeps, to rub in the message.

It hadn't been driven for 10 days but there was no indication of low starter battery voltage - engine started first turn of the key, just normal. Now wondering if these warning lights have anything to do with the recent 2 days of heavy rain.

I don't have a reader for ECU codes.

This code wasn't one of the 7! that came up on my test report from crashdatauk.
Think the cheapest I came up with for a new replacement (if it was going to be required) was Coastal Motorhomes.
Make sure you carefully check the serial \ part number as there are multiple versions of the airbag ecu that may not be interchangeable.

Ive contacted Fiat and asked for their help towards the repair. Ive told them as the van has only covered 20k and has had light use I think the part should not have failed. They have told me to get it in to Northern Commercials and get them to contact them . He said its likely they will pay for the part.

Just had update my module had a circuit board fault as well (B0102) which could not be repaired so new module for me.
Jean at Crashdata was very good in sorting out, thanks. Be aware though it appears another company is operating under name of Crash Data Reset in Waverley, this company is nothing to do with Crashdata in Liverpool, but looks sane on website
Make sure you are fully aware of the company that you are dealing with

Just got our unit back from Crash-data, error code BO100-49 High voltage 14.6.
We keep batteries charged with EHU in winter and rely on the solar and driving about in Summer.
We have an eddievanbitz fitted battery master.
Any ideas what could cause the high voltage reading and should we worried?

Pleased to hear it was fixable but no idea about your high voltage issue. Eddie will be the man to ask.

Sadly not! what comes out of the Battery Master is determined in what the Leisure battery puts in!

What is the Leisure battery voltage?

Sorry, had to go out.
Habitation battery reading 13.7 on the controlpanel but not been sunny last few days. Lucky I went out to check as showing a draw of - 1.0 amp and I found the washroom lights on.

The high voltage reading presumably pre-dates the airbag fault code which we first had back 30 March on taking the van out for a run.
I have occasionally noted the voltage readings of both batteries as shown on the control panel, and always between 13v and 14v. Usually 13.4v for vehicle battery and 13.8 for habitation.

If the leisure battery is an AGM then it should be charged at 14.7 to 14.8v. What does the battery master do during this? Does it send this voltage to the cab battery? Not looked at a battery master so have no idea.
