I'm off work this week, not because there isn't any work, no there's a big job in Maidenhead. I'm at home because the hotels are extortionate. Like £1400 to £2100 for the 4 lads going

Obviously you are multi millionaires now going on what a lot of people think who have never run a business so don’t know what overheads are!!When we sold our site in 2013
Oh. Yeah, this time of year anywhere near London prices go mental. Tennis, Chelsea Flower Show is the reason AFAIK -> and Maidenhead is near enough it's impacted. June was only time of year I struggled when consulting in West London to get hotels. I had to go further out than Maidenhead and have a near two hour commute in for those weeks some years.I'm off work this week, not because there isn't any work, no there's a big job in Maidenhead. If you only have a 2 week holiday time frame , by the the time you add on extra fuel to drive all the way to Europe , travel and breakdown insurance , Eurotunnel or Ferry outward and return journey its not so cheap .Despite having a deferred tunnel booking from a Easter trip that didn't happen, we've pretty much decided we need to stay in the UK this summer due to serious illness in the family (one parent). It'll likely be short trips away rather than our 3 or 4 week mega trip.
I've always fancied seeing Pembrokeshire and SW Wales so looked at a few sites to find out the cost. Oh my, even mid July the cost is easily coming in at over £40/nt for 3 adults and a dog, and some of these are no more than grass fields with a basic toilet block. No wonder we prefer to head a cross the channel.
Totally agree!I understand why many people prefer to tour Europe and it is perfectly reasonable to extol all the advantages. However I don’t find it helpful when European prices are used to rubbish UK sites. The comparisons are often made with countries that are twice the size of the UK, have smaller populations, have different land values and different planning restrictions. I am a member of both the C&CC and C&MC because of their CS and CL networks but I am not a great fan of them or most of their managed sites. If I don’t like a site I don’t go back there and if I think the price is too high I don’t book it.
Not based on current forecasts which is why we don't ourselves book until about a month before in summer periods. Until the weather outlook is known it's too risky with the price of campsites these days.
When booking cheaper (£10-15p/n things we obviously do take a punt).
AND everyone who stays on Aires claim they want to support the local economy, seems to me a good way of achieving it?At the risk of being accused of repeating my self, have you all seen this site put together by a member on here, free parking on pubs, ok I know you will say it's dear if you use the pub, but you will have to eat wherever you go, and saving 40 quid is a good start to your pub bill.

Out of interest, how many pitches did you have?I dunno. I’ve said this before many times, I’ll say it again and I’m sure I’ll say it in the future. When we sold our site in 2013 we had to make an average of over £13 per pitch night sold before we started to turn a profit, selling about 10,000 nights per season. Thats all running costs, mortgages, loans etc and before taking into account any major repairs and capital developments. So at today’s rates that’s getting on for €16 per night. Sometimes out of season we outnumbered the campers.
What constant 🌧Why not holiday in June, similar weather
We have done it for £9 a night but absolutely out of seasonNot wishing to be argumentative BUT, I have never been able to stay on Haven site for 5 nights, (4 yes,) or had FULL ACCESS to ALL the facilities (including swimming pool )

£49 for 4nights BASIC is the best I've seen?
How did you manage it?![]()
I, too, love Haven sites and often use them.Just went on Haven touring and booked Weymouth next week Sunday to Friday 2 people with electric , full use of facilities £55 , no code, no special offer !
We had planning permission for 80 pitches but I felt the site was too full with 80 occupied. We would however go to this in times of high demand such a summer school holidays and bank holidays etc. This is when campers got the worst of value. A site that was really uncomfortably full and at the highest price. It also depended on the mix, 2 small tents taking up not much more space than one big one soon became 3 tents instead of 2, so pinching an additional pitch. However, a working average of 71 touring and tenting and 4 camping pods. So 75 in total. A season was usually around 235 days. So 235 x 75 is 17,625. An average occupancy of about 57%.Out of interest, how many pitches did you have?
As 10,000 nights a year sounds a lot.
They have done loads and spent hundreds of thousands on stuff you don't see such ad electricity cables, drainage etc.It has become madness in regards to pricing, a basic campsite just on the outskirts of Nottingham (previously Thorntons Holt - now called Nottingham - Camping and Caravanning Club Site) is £65/n or £55/n if a member, it was £30/n when privatley owned and from what I can see they havn't changed anything.. complete rip off.
Looks like prices are about the same then and nowhere near your guestimate, 5 nights less than 30 quid a night. Not saying its good value but hard standing and electric included. It has become madness in regards to pricing, a basic campsite just on the outskirts of Nottingham (previously Thorntons Holt - now called Nottingham - Camping and Caravanning Club Site) is £65/n or £55/n if a member, it was £30/n when privatley owned and from what I can see they havn't changed anything.. complete rip off.
This year?We have done it for £9 a night but absolutely out of season
Probably have had to put the price down now the barge is moored in Weymouth?Just went on Haven touring and booked Weymouth next week Sunday to Friday 2 people with electric , full use of facilities £55 , no code, no special offer !
