Oops, damaged while parked πŸ˜³πŸ™

Took a drive out today in the sun , Bev even came for a ride 😁

What a nice firm to deal with DMS are πŸ‘ bears out reports on here πŸ‘

They have tidied up the sticky out trim, looks like parts required will be minimal πŸ‘ the trims for the side of the lower skirt are available separately as is the cover trim between door and skirt

DMS and Aviva are quite happy that we get the awning replaced by Rose Awnings πŸ‘

Now the awning is off we can confirm there is no damage , DMS have said they think the single long section of mounting section will have helped, most awnings they see are attached to a few shorter pieces

Repairs will be March / April , awning booked for 29th Feb, a mechanic mate is going to do the brake discs pads and track rod ends in exchange for our old log burner πŸ˜πŸ‘ saved me Β£100’s against Mertrux quote πŸ‘

If only medical issues were as easily fixed πŸ™

Hoping to get away next week , anniversary on Weds we have been away every year except 2020 when mum was poorly 🌈

Holiday will have to include Alde service and Rose awnings πŸ€”πŸ‘ but Bev doesn’t mind , she is definitely a keeper ❀️

Regarding what folks are saying with insurance.

Someone ran into the side of my 6 month old car a few years ago. She came straight out of a side street to hit me. All went through the insurance company with claim against the other driver. Come renewal time it shows as a no fault claim but had no effect on premiums, I wasn’t penalised at all.
Same thing with motorhome insurance, told them all about it and they said a no fault claim makes no difference.

Well lucky old you. We had some low life try to break into our parked first motorhome years ago on a short break in Brighton. Damaged the hab door (not available without the frame) scratched the offside cab ie passenger door and a very deep scratch to its window. Now bearing in mind we hardly ever went to Brighton in any vehicle either of us ever owned as it's not at all nearby why the hell OH got increased premiums pdq on every single one of his, ie Moho, car and also two motorbikes - whereas the car registered to me constantly parked either alongside the moho or t'other side of his car whilst moho not in use and every one of em except bikes insured for both us us to drive any time we happened to choose was more than severely frustrating to both of us. Since then we've deliberately chosen more than once to just not bother claiming for anything again really and just get whatever repaired where it suits us. Once by OH and a good biking mate, mainly actually outside our back door! Honda dealer reckoned the frame was twisted, don't do anything at all then please, just bring it back to me here asap - OH proved em wrong once he was physically capable of doing the necessary measurements. Mate had to test ride it for him though so all the checks were done again then so he could see OH was correct cos OH still had a broken, so plastered, leg. Good ole bit of local road, no speed traps and very little traffic at certain times in those days. We obviously all (his wife and both of us) heaved a sigh of relief when he came back on it, each in one piece!

I'm very reluctant to inform the Insurers unless either another party has accepted liability or its substantially above the excess

After my experience of no other party was involved I would not claim for anything under Β£2,000. The last claim, over 10 years ago, cost me more than that. It was a fault claim.

This ^^

Êither way it is nothing to do with you.Whilst it is in there'care' there insurance is liable & has to sort it out between themselves & the customers insurance.

It is completely different. A Tesco car park is a public space whereas the garage premises should not be.
Not sure about the Tesco analogy. A repairer/dealer is likely to have chosen where the vehicle is parked and where trucks are allowed to manoeuvre. But I doubt if mere possession of the motorhome makes them responsible - they have more of a duty of care than Tesco but there would still probably need to be some negligence or breach of another duty rather some form of strict no-fault liability. But a claim against the driver's employer should surely be straightforward.

So was it not possible to claim against whoever broke in? If not and you made a claim then it would affect your insurance

We are just home from a 12 night trip away in our damaged MH

Today was the first big change back to fully restored

Superb service as ever from Rose Awnings

Just waiting on a date for the lower quarter and rear panel repairs to be fully restored πŸ‘

While waiting for the repairs we got talking about air beam wind breaks, it would appear we didn’t know how much we needed one, well we fixed that as well today 😁 draughtproof gin awning now available at future meets πŸ€”πŸ™‚πŸ‘

No idea of their identity.
